Forgot to say that 4Minute never had an especific sound or a concept that they were known for. Back then girl groups were either cute and innocent, badass or sexy. 4Minute did a bit of everything! It wasn't like nowadays that most girl groups tend to do something different, concept and sound wise, with every comeback~ A lot of the groups that went on longer would eventually change their concept as the members matured, Girl's Day is an example of this. They started with a cute and quirky concept but moved onto something more sexy as they grew. Apink as well, cute and innocent first, sofisticated and mature now 😊
4Minute is a great 2nd Gen group, you definitely need to check out all their songs if you are interested in K-Pop, it's a staple, just like 2NE1 and Girls Generation.

It's the age old debate of the older generation not fully accepting/appreciating the newer group's style,sound, or concept. I would never say they seemed "amateur", since it's all subjective, but the people who came up with the 1st gen Kpop groups might feel the same way about SNSD, 2NE1, 4Minute, etc... I just appreciate everyone's style and as long as they seem to put forth the effort, I support them!
@@V3actions its not the not accepting. its the not stepping up and filling huge shoes thing even after so many years. if they can't step up the game, they aren't really gonna get much farther. but sadly nowadays people only care about views and looks. most of us who are telling BP to step it up are those who enjoy watching kpop for the talent and music, not the views and looks. they don't live up to most other groups. but their fandom is big. its because of visual appeal. their talents are average, imo.
@@V3actions as a person who has been a fan of kpop since 2005, i can say for sure the second generation STEPPED UP the game from the FIRST generation. so its a let down to some of us when new groups can't live up to the names that brought them where they are today. (examples of extreme talents nowadays: NCT, Stray Kids, A.C.E, SF9, Monsta X, ETC)
@@j2kay93 I understand! I only ask that people remember that music is an art, and all art is subjective. Some people may love the newer generations over the older, or even think the second generation isn't even worth watching, and that's their preference. Some people hate me already because I said I don't care for BTS, even though I said I like them, I just rather listen to groups like EXO, and I'm 100% fine with them feeling that way! 💜💜

Comparing them to other groups isn't fair to begin with, but from my understanding, YG doesn't give them any creative freedom, so judging them is outright wrong, if everything from their lyrics, videos, and even stage appearances are determined by someone else. They shouldn't have to worry about filling someone else shoes; they should be trying to make their own mark in history. While I respect your opinion, I would have to disagree with your point.
