There is i think one or two of the concert videos that have great audio, other wise I recommend he just listen to studio audio, to hear the song properly in all it's glory.
L'Enfant Sauvage is one of my favourites, especially the 2013 at brixton. I love how simple their music sounds at first but there is so much going on and small details that do a lot. They really manage to create the kind of emotions I like in music.
Cool reaction again. Love the detail you add. Gojira are at their best Live. If you react to Where Dragons Dwell then you must do the Live at Hellfest 2013 video. Also, the drummer Mario Duplantier is widely regarded as one of the best metal drummer around at the moment. His brother Joe is on guitar and vocals. All round a great band with a unique style.
Love when brothers play together. I played with my brother in my band and it was awesome. Helps with songwriting and chemistry. Appreciate the support!
I saw these guys live at Knotfest last year in Toronto. I was checking out their catalog prior to the show to get a feel for them. Damn. Hearing them live is next level. They sounded amazing!!! Fan for sure afterwards. I'll be keeping my eye out for them coming back for sure!!!
You do a really great job with these. No hype or meme-y nonsense, just intelligent, thoughtful commentary and a very nice speaking voice. Subscribed. For your next Band-Maid reaction I would like to see Daydreaming music video or Dice MV.
So my man Chase 5 sec into the main lead jumps in and explains that Joe is actually tapping and also how its done. This !!! its things like this that make me love this channel. Awesome reaction and insight as per usual
This was the song that got me started on Gojira, too! I followed Silvera up with "Stranded" and then "Into the Wilderness," myself. If you're looking for something that you may never have heard (maybe?) before - Folk Metal. Eluveitie is one I have a feeling you might like (they had some band/sound changes a few years ago, so a newer song "Rebirth" is a good example of their current sound while "King" for their older stuff). Since I see you're enamored of Nightwish (as everyone should be), also check out a symphonic metal band called Epica - they tend to perform with a full orchestra and chorus ("The Classical Conspiracy" concert in particular is a great example). As with your earlier videos, love your analyses!
Every song is good in my opinion. Been listening to music for years. Missed out on Gojira till this year. It’s because I wasn’t ready for it till now. It’s been said there’s “life before Gojira and life after Gojira” it is true!
You can't escape from Gojira. I discovered them 2007 I think and since then I'm a big fan. As a guitar player I also bought a guitar exclusively only for Gojira songs 😁 And they are so easy to play even for a medium talented player like me: The simplicity of the guitar playing in context with the music and Marios often super complex drumming makes the magic. You don't have to be a virtuoso when you strive to do extremely good music, you must have the "sense" for it and Gojira is almost perfection! Thanks for the reaction and keep up the good work! Cheers from Germany 🤘🎸🍺😍
I'm loving this channel! You continously point out and explain details, thanks for that. Details is what this kind of music is about (for me) but without the musical knowledge it's hard to explain to others. Now I just have to refer them to your vids 😀. Also love that we seem to love the same bands! Nightwish, Jinjer, Gojira, now for some Opeth, Leprous, Apocalyptica and Caligula's Horse and I'm in heaven ...
Had tickets for their concert in Brussels in June, but obviously that's postponed 😿 Love their earlier work, songs such as Flying Whales and l'enfant sauvage. Worth to check out! Also thry are stms dubbed eco-metal, since they often sing about ecological themes.
Great reaction! These guys are extremely good. One of my favorite bands together with Nightwish, you can also try Toxic Garbage Island, Magma, Mouth of Khala, Stranded, Pray, Only Pain, Oroborus, Flying Whales, The Gift of Guilt, The Art of Dying, Global Warming, Explosia, and two extremely heavy songs: Backbone and The Heaviest Matter of the Universe, if you like this one, you will probably love the band. Some of their songs have absolutely stunning outros, like Explosia, The Art of Dying, Mouth of Kala, and Pray.
Gojiras a great band cool you had them come your way! Personally i like a little more melody and dynamics in vocals which keeps them from cracking my favorites but heck yeah I always enjoy rocking out to them.
if you like this sort of technical metal the rest of gojira's discography is a stellar listen. There is also a band similar to them, Rivers of nihil, their latest album's single Where Owls Known my Name is a trippy listen, very cool stuff. Slugdge is also similar but it leans more heavy.
Cool reaction , silvera is one of the most radio friendly song they have , they’re more chill now (they got a bit older ) they were more pure death metal back then ,remembrance from the link alive or the heaviest matter of the universe live at brixton , it’s another story.🙂 and yeah one of their style is the repetition , minimalist rift , but so catchy and well played technically that it’s awesome, one of the best metal live band of the world and one of the most influencial of the last decades and mario duplantier the drum is,one of the best metal drummer as well
Lol, if I need cheering up, I don't typically turn to Gojira. Their vibe more reminds me of the ending of "The Mist". One of my favorites though. You should check out their song "The Shooting Star"
Their breakdowns and riffs are among the best in modern metal. Joe (vocals) and Mario (drummer) are brothers and have really good chemistry musically and songwriting-wise. Please check out Oroborus, Toxic Garbage Island, and Flying Whales. Great review and analysis!
Gojira are one of the best for sure. Would be interested in what you make of Kardashev - between sea and sky .... and Vintersea - The Host and/or Illuminated.
Born in winter from Gojira is a very good song, check it out man! Subscribed, thanks for the beautiful work when talking about music, I study aesthetics in my philosophy bachelor and I see a lot of what I study coming out of your mouth when you talk so passionately about music, thank you so much for that!
There's a ton of fantastic Gojira songs, you really can't go wrong with any of them, but you should do "Born in Winter" for your next reaction of theirs since it's another gentler step into them... then do "From the Sky" for something heavy. Also looking forward to some Tool reactions!
@@ChaseCarneson, I tried to reply and it appears to have not posted, so if this shows up as my second reply, I apologize. There are too many good Tool songs to even know where to begin, but one of my favorites that doesn't get the love it deserves is "Jimmy". Thanks for the reply by the way and keep the quality reactions coming.
Very cool review....appreciate the observations..... In the way the intrumentation here kind of teminds me of Band Maid in a singwriting sense in that they are very good at arranging the segments....doing the basics extremely well and in a creative way... structure?
In first time, sorry for my English and very good job for all your's react video. If i have only one wich, i'll very happy if you can see and react for "Global Warming" Live at the Silver Cord Studio....In my opinion, it's the very best and intimity version of the Gojira's product. please let's go to see this video and enjoy this music. You not regret it ! Continue like that ^^
Many people here recommend more technical brutal songs from their earlier era, but i think you would enjoy way more songs where they have interesting songwriting for example Oroboros, Stranded, Low Lands or L'enfant sauvage
Big fan of your analysis and breakdown of the music, would love to see you delve into the lyrical aspect as well from time to time! Not sure if you feel you have more to often from the musical side being a musician, but you're clearly a smart dude and I have no doubt you'd have any interesting take on the lyrics! Not sure if it's been requested, but would love to see your thoughts on Spiritbox, either their track Rule of Nines or Blessed Be. Lastly, I know you're currently in the UK, but where in SA are you originally from? Lekka boet!
Thank you for the support and comment. I definitely lean more to the music side, but definitely been thinking about brining more of the lyrical analysis into the reactions.
You should go to the beginning and listen to a song by Gojira called space-time I hope you check your comments on older videos. I believe that you will be pleasantly surprised with this track. Gojira is a very interesting man technical melodic Groove metal. Their old stuff is f****** nuts
If you do have any interest in some of those bands that are absurdly heavy and fast, for some reason this track makes me think of "Manufactured Extinct" by Cattle Decapitation. They're a 'vegan deathgrind' band with a lot of socially aware and environmental themes in their music, perhaps that's why Gojira conjures them for me. May not be your cup of tea, haha (suffice to say they have a somewhat bleak outlook), but might be worth checking out. Maybe even not on the channel, as I don't think they really do music videos beyond just promo slideshow type stuff from the label. Love the channel, cheers!
As a side not, from what I've gathered, this is a song about animal abuse. • _"No other blood in me than mine"_ • _"Time to open your eyes to this genocide"_ • _"When you change yourself you change the world"_
I'd love to see you react to Suldusk, my friend's band. Emily is a multi instrumentalist mixing dark folk, post rock and atmospheric black metal Solus Ipse is an amazing song Aphasia is great and has a video
Yeah that sounds amazing. If you could send me a link (or email one) whichever works for you (Email is in about section) I'd definitely take a look at that.
@@ChaseCarneson Suldusk - Solus Ipse ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-bC8qksTMNjQ.html Sure these tracks are different to what you are used to but hope you check them/one out
gojira is awesome, i dont they can make a 'bad song'. this one is nice easy listening but has lots of complex flavor tossed in here and there, perfect song to convert non-metalheads over to the dark side
soooo.... when is the next Gojira reaction then??? 🤨 i would say The Art Of Dying should be the next! it's "one for the musicians" as you said on a previous video 😎
Dupplantier brother are as awsome as their name sounds. Look up to the drummer routine. His daily routine worth an entire normal concert amount. Just go to his Instagram acclunt
Analyse intéressante. Tu as pausé le morceau mais pour dire de bonnes choses Get ready to be blown away by Gojira. So many awesome songs. Live its even better. They're metal gods. Check the gift of guilt or flying whales live at brixton Academy. + oroborus live. The heaviest matter of the universe, the art of dying, l'enfant sauvage, explosia, low lands, the cell, born in winter, stranded, the shooting star. Global warming live at the silver cord studio, backbone, where dragons dwell live at hellfest etc...
