The Light Behind Your Eyes was written for Gerard's daughter, Bandit. He was away from her on tour for essentially an entire year, and during that time, his mental health hit a new low. He thought that he would kill himself before he got to see her grow up, so the song is his letter to her urging her to keep going. That's where you get lyrics like "Never let them take the light behind your eyes / I'll fail and lose this fight / Never fade in the dark / Just remember you will always burn as bright"
Listens to a Pop-Punk record, "Anyway, let me recommend some noise rock and metalcore" Yes, Brad, that was exactly what I was looking for when listening to this record
this 'album' was made throughout different times of their career, meaning each if the songs came from different years and projects if theirs, mostly dd, their for the outdated sound of some of the songs. Most of these songs were recorded in 08/09. This album isn't the best, cause it's basically scraps of other albums. Also i highly recommend listening to the original version of the world is ugly, definitely better than the 2nd version 🤘.
@@jichaelmackson1958 nahhh mate I know what I'm talking about, also i meant they were written and pre recorded in 08/09, before the final recording and release in 2012/13, so other than that what's incorrect??????
Eliana Hapner Thats not what the guys have said about it. Happy to change my mind, but they have always said Conventional Weapons: We’re No Match for Them was a full project, which was scrapped after they recorded Na Na Na
Brad, you should react to The Brobecks’s Violent Things or iDKHOW’s 1981 EP. They were both made by former Panic! bassist Dallon Weekes and, in my opinion, are better versions of Fever and Too Weird respectively.
@@bubonic_plague_arah747 what the hell are you talking about dude, there is meaning to everything Dallon has written. He's always written like this. He likes telling dark stories and critiques of society, and if you think it's edgy pandering nothingness then like. work on your analytical skills? Because there definitely is meaning. Also. I don't think you know the difference between throwing a bunch of long words together like a middle schooler and actually just being stylistically articulate by nature.
Why do you act like this album came out this year? They wrote this in like 2008-2009 and scrapped it as a true album because they knew it wasn't their best work
liyah R you would think that if you were to review an album, you would at least research when it came out/when it was made. especially if you’re gonna call it “dated”
Apparently the band agreed with you about this album not matching the rest of their ambitions, because this whole thing was legit recorded in 2008 and after they were finished tracking, Gerard basically said fuck man I hate this and then they wrote Danger Days. This came out after but it was recorded a year or two before and I assume if they didn't break up it may have never even released.
It's actually about a girl who try to ended her life from overdose and she was a mcr fan. Gerard called her and told her to stay alive and he made this song for her. She promise to stay alive.
ah, the light behind your eyes. the sheer amount of times i listened to that song to imagine it was being sung to me. god. what a time in my life, i was doing really shit lmao. i'm glad things are better now goddamn. still love the song tho, honestly
Yeah, I would consider Conventional Weapons a writers block compilation of sorts. Just like a “These are the songs we wrote when we couldn’t figure out what to do next” kind of thing. Thus why a lot of the songs don’t have much discernible and/or compelling direction, because besides the self analyzing ones talking about the band’s position at that time, they didn’t really know what songs they were trying to make either
some of the songs you hated, like kiss the ring, are some of my favorite by mcr, but i respect your opinion. also, you should listen to the black parade b-sides!
omg thanks finally someone that doesn’t like kiss the ring and make room that much- honestly the vocals ruin the entire thing kiss the ring doesn’t sound anything like gerard and make room is just..... meh its great live but the vocals on the studio version ruin the entire thing but uhh... burn bright is one of my favorite mcr songs... that kinda hurt ngl
This isn't an album, these are discarded songs for (I think) Danger Days. Good critic tho but I wouldn't judge it like an album, and in a first time, I wouldn't ask for a reaction. They're just what they are, discarded songs.
They're not discarded Danger Days songs (That's the DD EPs for ya), this is from an album they tried to write between Black Parade and Danger Days, but evidently, scrapped.
oh and this is why my list goes like this: 5. Conventional Weapons 4. Bullets 3. Danger Days 2. Black Parade 1. Revenge if they put out new music, please let it be The Paper Kingdom...
If he didn't like the fuzzier vocals here, he probably won't like them there. Although maybe they match the tone of those songs better because he embraced the more Brit-pop feel, so who knows?
@@elisavet8946 Yeah, I just feel like Frank's vocals are a bit of an acquired taste. I personally love what I call "waily" vocals, but I know a lot of people who can't stand them.
Would you ever react to music videos? If so, please watch the ghost of you mv it really makes the song have a bigger meaning. I was in the middle of watching the three cheers reaction so I moved to a newer video so maybe you’ll see it and consider. Thank you!
the light behind your eyes is actually a song he made for his daughter cause he was afraid someday he'd start drinking and doing drugs again and wouldnt be able to be there for her
I still like Conventional Weapons, but yeah, the fact that it’s pretty much Danger Days outtakes definitely shows. I genuinely love the first two tracks, Ambulance, Gun, and even Kiss the Ring (although it could really do with better mixing and more unique flavor to make it feel less like generic garage rock)
the light behind your eyes is gerard singing to his daughter cuz he thought he was gonna die of relapse so he wants to give her something to remember him by
Please react to Frank iero solo music. Pencey prep, leathermouth, death spells,Frank iero and the celebration,Frank iero and the patiences, and Frank iero and the future violents.
Oh als I'd suggest you listen to some of Frank's solo music, I think you might actually enjoy it (maybe you'd hate death spells but idk) but Barriers or parachutes or even stomachaches are really good and loud and more Rock than later mcr projects.
I know I'm late here, but this album was recorded between Black Parade and Danger Days. They scrapped this album and said they would only release it when they broke up.
as far as i know the light behind your eyes is about killjoys, fans of the band, who have taken their life. it makes sense for the song to be more slow and sappy, it's like he's mourning what happened. this song always make me cry and it definitely means a lot to me, but i totally respect your opinion since we all have different taste in music, just thought you should know the meaning.
FYI they made another album following TBP called "The Paper Kingdom" which was a theatrical album like TBP and even darker than TBP. In fact it was so dark and depressing that they burnt all the work and it was never released. Now that they have come back, maybe there's a new album which is similar to TBP.
The Light behind your eyes, is about a fan who was in the hospital, for attempting Suicide, her Mom contacted Gerard, and he sat with this girl, and promised to write a song to her. At least, that's what I heard-
I hated this but I listened a couple more times and now I really like it, yeah I do agree it's just kinda background music but further listening has made my ear really enjoy the sounds on it
I love all my chemical romance songs but I think we can all agree that nothing could live up to what the black parade was. Truly a revolutionary album.
Your reaction to the Black Parade is one of my favourite reaction video ever. But you DO know ,I hope, that this album they actually scrapped because of everything you are saying. Gerard Way commented on all theese songs in a long ass fck tweet session, lol. But one thing I think you should know is that instead of continuing working on this they flipped totally and made another concept album. And I know u don't like Danger Days, lol. But atleast it was very consistent and fairly brought together. I loved it. So all is good, record company wanted to release Conventional weapons, like you said,2 tracks per months, and this 5 months before MCR announced breakup,so artist has a say, but only to some extent as you are very aware of. Anyways, big hugs from Sweden and this is my longest rant ever on RU-vid so congrats for making me feel smthng, lol.
I swear to fucking god if he doesn't like the light behind your eyes ok we good, but he thought it was about the breakup/ band members or the audience I CANT
i don' t like this album at all and always felt alone because i saw manyyyy fans always stood up to this album. Not so alone anymore now, thanks brad lol
Brad I know you’re extremely sick of people recommending My Chemical Romance things, but I share a lot of opinions with you, and the B-Side Black Parade songs are really good. My Way Through is You is one of my favorite my chem song, so if you’d like too I really recommend reacting to the b-sides 👉👈
