This was actually one of there later videos and Freddie was ill at this time. He was getting dermal fillers to make his face look less gaunt and the shirt tie and beard he was sporting were to cover up the skin legions that were starting to appear on his body and his thin appearance. It doesn’t seem like he’s ill at all because of the energy he was putting out in the video but according to Brian(guitarist)it was very difficult for him to do this video and he was squeezing every last bit of energy out of himself.
I think they only did four more videos after this one: Breakthru and Headlong were both in colour, and then I'm Going Slightly Mad and These Are The Days Of Our Lives were in black and white because by then Freddie was very ill. EDIT: Oh wait, and I think the Invisible Man was after this one as well. EDIT2: No wait, what am I talking about? They did seven after this one!
Thank you, I just commented the same thing. Don't know if you've listened to "Mother Love", but it was recorded about a month before Freddie's death (the last song he ever recorded actually), and it's amazing how good he sounded, so close to the end. But he couldn't bring himself to finish the last verse, so he decided to stop and record it another time. Well another time never came, and Brian actually went back after he passed and sang the last verse. Heartbreaking.
Annoying Me Freddie Mercury also quit smoking. He quit smoking around 1987 and he gave up alcohol sometime the last 4 to 6 months of his life. He drank long enough to get and through their last album and video, and when he was at home he had pain medicine. The last couple years he was on Hydromorphine.
This was actually in 1989, two years before Freddie's death. His vocals were still godly all the way till the end. Try reacting to "these are the days of our lives," which was Freddie's last video recording with queen
YES!!! 👍🏻👌🏻 💙💚💛🧡💜❤ It is such a Sad 😌😔😕😢😭 time. It was Freddie's last appearance in a Video!!! But, it is one of the most Beautiful Videos, ever!!! 🌟⭐🌟🌈⚡🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Bless Freddie’s heart. He was so sick but the forever professional. Miss him everyday. Freddie went to the button down dress shirts because it hide not only his weight loss but the skin lesions on his neck.
How to age Freddie Mercury: Long hair, no facial hair: 1970-1976 Shorter hair (still shoulder length), no facial hair: 1977-1978 Even Shorter hair (medium length, think save me video), no facial hair: 1979 Short Hair, Handlebar-type mustache: 1980-1981 Short Hair, normal mustache: 1982-1986 Short Hair, no facial hair: 1987-1988 (early) Short Hair, rough beard: 1988 (late) - 1990 (early) Short Hair, gaunt appearance, no facial hair: 1990 (late) - 1991 (until death).
He had a beard till late 1990 because in the headlong video that was on the 23rd November 1990 and he grew another beard after he retired from music but the others are correct it's that little bit
I first heard this song on the radio in May 1989 when I was six months pregnant with my poor baby and she had to listen to this and I’m surprised he wasn’t born deaf 😂😂 I was so excited to hear a QUEEN Song because it had been 2 1/2 to 3 years since they released anything and three years since the last toured. When they did tour in 1986., they only toured 26 or so shows throughout Europe and it was a huge tour. Brian May, lead guitarist & vocal, said on the night of the final performance at Knebworth, Freddie Mercury and walked off the stage with him at the end of the concert and looked over to him and said, “ I don’t want to do this anymore”. Every tour of the band had, they had an end of band party. Queen parties were known to be crazy fun!!! They spent more money on their parties and basically it was for the people and not them because they liked to entertain all of the time. Freddie Mercury was so damn generous with everybody & Soo many people took terrible advantage of him. Brian May said that Freddie Mercury was totally wiped out after that concert and he decided to go back to his room & rest. Freddie Mercury was too tired to party! You know there’s something up there. Of course the guys and even the crew knew something wasn’t right with bread but they didn’t know what in July and August 1986. They thought, “ oh it’s Fred.. he’s tired and he’s worn out and he just needs a break”... it’s kind of like deep deep down they had this suspicion that they thought with his sexuality that there was a possibility he could have HIV, But unlike what most people think, Freddie Mercury was only human like anybody and he was not immortal. I Love this!!! ❤️❤️ this album is the miracle and one of my favorites. The kids they used in the video for the song, “ it’s a miracle” is absolutely adorable🙏🏻🙏🏻 those four boys dressed up like like Fred, John, Brian and Roger are the cutest thing and they play the instruments and then at the end of the video the guys came up on the stage and they performed together. It’s absolutely beautiful and points out Martin Luther King‘s one true vision.
Thanks for playing this. I never heard the studio version. EVERYONE just KILLED this track!!!! Freddie,Brian killed the vocals. Let’s talk about Roger. That guy plays the drums with so much PASION!!!!! His vocals are CRAZY!!!! He does NOT get the love he deserves. John plays the best bass lines I have ever heard...He needs to get more attention that he also deserves. EVERYTHING AMAZING!!? I’m so BLESSED that I grew up listening to this. I feel like It’s in my 20’s hearing them for the first time.....Long live 👑Queen!!!
The absolute best perfect Queen song was " The Show Must Go On" but "it's a miracle" is the most enjoyable video they ever made and it will make you smile ear to ear lift you up. In fact I challenge you to try to watch and react to "A Miracle"without laughing, great time. Love your reactions and I look forward to more. Please do these two for me.
That's 2 years before he died. The shock of seeing him in 'these are the days of ours lives' was devastating. I remember watching it in the sitting room when it first aired, I called my mum in & said look at Freddie, she was very upset & left the room, she loved him, being in the UK we all did. The greatest front man of all time
This is why I love Queen! All four members wrote music so they had every kind of music and they smashed it all. Each member played/sang at the top of their game, every time. This was closer to the end actually. I love the effect of Roger smashing beer off his drum heads.
Did you know, that this is actually one of their last music videos with Freddie? Because allthough you thought this is one of their earlier vids... it’s actually one of their last ones
They did seven more videos after this one: The Miracle, Breakthru, The Invisible Man, Scandal, Headlong, I'm Going Slightly Mad, and These Are The Days Of Our Lives.
At the beginning and at the end Brian May leaves me speechless, he is an excellent guitarist and musician, applause 👏 It's wonderful to hear him play along with the other guys, unbelievable, I love them all.
Freddie was amazing! He gave his best to us, right up until the very end-- just like Elvis did! Both their talents were God given! They each gave us such wonderful performances with a spirit that never quit! I don't think the world will ever tire of listening to the music of the multi talented members of Queen enhanced by Freddie ,as their lead singer ! We will continue to want to listen to Queen, as time marches on, just as we continue to listen to Elvis! We will also continue to miss Freddie & Elvis the same way because listening to them now is divinely comforting! May they rest in peace! May they keep rocking in Heaven!
That was back when people could actually play amazingly on real instruments and could sing without all the electronic tricks to change their voices. Freddie was completely amazing!!
At age 56, I can say: "You guys missed out dearly". Based on almost all of the reactions to Queen be it video or live, I can not imagine how boreing your music and concerts must be today. Experiences such as STEREO and interaction with the crowd were the "norm" for us. It was that "energy" you are talking about. Fun and exciting. I AM glad this music is available to you now though. Live was best. But, since that is no longer available, old video is so precious. Keep listening and enjoy!
I just love the growl in Freddie's voice, his passion and his attitude; in this song!! He hits some amazing notes in this too! Hard to believe he was so sick at the time. The entire band is just so amazing! R.I.P. Freddie!!
This song is still played today in snippets on Foxtel. Cable TV in Australia. This gives me chills every time I hear this! Freddie and Queen will go down as one of the best bands. Still can’t get over how we all lost Freddie way too soon! Freddie will live on our hearts ♥️ forever!
This was 1989. Freddie was diagnosed in 87, two years before, but they kept it to themselves. Even though Freddie wasn’t as skinny as he was in 90-91, he still was getting sicker, then he started to lose weight in, like 90, and they he ultimately passed in 91, and they released one more album in 95, which I guess was stuff that Freddie did in the studio that they didn’t use and the band play over it.
that is an all time favorite! Since i was able to think, i loved that song! The whole album is just: WOOOW! Its called: News of the world, and also has we are the champions and we will rock you in it! I think that was around 1977
Oana Serban according to Mary Austen and the band members, May 1989 is when Freddie Mercury told them that he had AIDS. Two years earlier he had lied to Mary and told her he didn’t have it. his doctor called her because Freddie Mercury was not answering Dr. Atkinson‘s phone calls. He wasn’t returning his messages because I’m sure deep down he didn’t want to hear what he knew he was going to hear. Dr. Atkinson called Mari Austin and asked her if she would please get Fred to contact him. Mary asked him about if he was ill and if he had anything in particular because she was well aware of the AIDS pandemic, and some of Fred’s acquaintances dying from the disease. He lied to her and told her he didn’t & he was just exhausted etc.. Told her he had an infection and not about the Karposi Sarcoma & when he told them in 1989, Mary Austin said her heart fell to her boots. They were all devastated but Mary Austin said they all had to stay strong for him. People had to be strong around Freddie because if anyone showed a lot of sympathy or tried to coddle him, he would push them away because he needed people to be strong. I can understand that and it was his business for not telling Mary the truth. He should have because what if something would’ve happened that would’ve required her to step up to the plate, as she was his accountant.
Next Queen suggestion...live version of "White Queen" a night at the Odeon Hammersmith. Early Queen. So good! Freddie kills the vocals and piano and Brian's guitar....just wow!
Livia Lima I agree! Queen live in Montreal 1981 “ somebody to love” it’s absolutely incredible and shows how this band is live- exceptionally awesome! That performance also shows how awesome Roger Taylor is on the drums and as a vocalist. ❤️❤️
PLEASEEEE react to Queen, White Queen Live at the Odeon 1975. Its a much more mellow joint but it's pure Fire, especially the middle Paino/Guitar solo. Also, unfortunately this song was at the end of Freddie's career, he never got to sing this song live. He wore baggie clothes to hide his major weight loss and grew the beard to hide the lesions on his face from Aids.
You should react to Queen "Breakthru" and "Headlong". Both songs, like "I Want It All", was recorded in 1989 - 1990 time period were Freddie was too weak to tour but he still gave it everything he had in the videos. "Breakthru" was set on a moving train (the Miracle Express) because the beat reminded the boys of a locomotive plus, boys with toys, how could they resist. FYI- the girl in the video is Debbie Leng, Roger's companion at the time and mother of 3 of his 5 kids. "Headlong" is set in an industrial setting sort of and if you listen to the lyrics it is really kind of naughty. "He used to be a man with a stick in his hand Hoop diddy diddy - Hoop diddy do She used to be a woman with a hot dog stand Hoop diddy diddy - Hoop diddy do" First time I heard "Headlong" on the radio, I thought they were saying, "Put your Russian hat on" instead they were saying, "And he's rushing headlong...' LOL
Hell yes! Rock reactions! Didn't know you did this! Thank you for bringing this gem out and dusting it off. Try reacting to disturbed - the sound of silence. It's a balad but it's so good. #firesquad
PASSS....this is what I grew up on My father was a musician from 1974 to abt 1990...his bannd covered alot of Queen...so this brings back memories 😊💜🔥#firesquad
The song was on the Miracle Album - 1989. The story is that Brian May wrote it for his wife - Anita Dobson. She is an actress, and stood in the crowd at a Queen Concert and witnessed people going crazy for the band and she "Wanted it all, and wanted it now"
OMG you don't have to, you NEED to watch Queen's Live Aid full set! It's about 20 minutes but you will be transfixed! A lot of people bill it as one of the greatest live rock concerts of all time!
Once they got big and started touring, I feel sorry for anyone who came on after them. It's almost impossible, no matter music generation, to follow Queen. They just had such a sound, such power, every song was an anthem.
Not so, The Miracle, Headlong and Breakthru were all filmed after this video. I'm going slightly mad followed on Innuendo and finally These Are The Days of Our Lives. (According to Wikipedia Headlong was filmed after I'm Going Slightly Mad in December 1990 - not to sure about that myself .)
No. This was his 4th to last video appearance. But he was in 3 others after this. "These Are The Days Of Our Lives " being the last one. "I'm Going Slightly Mad" being his 2nd to last. And "Headlong" being his 3rd to last.
The miracle, breakthrough, scandal and invisible Man, all in the same album came after I want it all then you've got headlong, I'm going slightly mad,and these are the days of our lives off the innuendo album
Huge respect for what you are doing. As someone bought up on rock music, you make me question my own inherent prejudice about R n B and hip hop music, which is a great thing! it needs to be challenged and i need to open my heart and learn to appreciate and respect other forms of music. It brings people together like nothing else after all!!
I so enjoy watching your Queen reactions and your enthusiasm over them. It would behoove you to react to more of their music as they were and will ALWAYS BE THE BEST BAND EVER....FREDDIE LIVES ON THROUGH THEIR MUSIC! (MISS HIM SO)
This song is awesome and it may of been in a commercial. I remember it coming out around May or June 1989 in the USA. I was about six or seven months pregnant with my daughter. Music was full blast all summer and I’m surprise my baby didn’t come out singing that song. 😂😂 they Hatten been together in about two years and then they got together in the summer fall of 1988 and started writing songs and playing again. I think Freddy knew he was sick and John Deacon was so stressed out at the end of their 1986 tour, &. John had also had too much to drink and he smashed hihis bass the end of the concert. They decided after 16 or so years together that they would just take a break & they needed it because they had been one hard-working bunch of guys and a family on their own. They came back together and did the miracle and it was immaculate!!!
Queen were the Kings of transitions. They did it so damn smooth while switching up things all the time. This song is such a feel good song. When I was in my 20s I used to listen to this and Don't stop me now to get me in a good mood for dates. There's nothing like jumping out of the shower listening to I Want It All. All the energy, it's crazy.
Fun fact: the title is something Brian May 's sweetheart said - she wanted it all and she wanted it NOW. He was married to another at the time, and went through a hard time. But the song is great.
This song was recorded in 1989 and Mother Love was the Very last Song Freddie recorded, he wasn’t able to finish the song, he passed away before it was done, Brian May sang the last verse and recorded, it was released 1995 on the Album Made in Heaven, real hard hitting song, his last and still so strong 😢
Pink Floyd, Led Zeplin, Poison, Motley Crue, Aerosmith, The Who, Lenard Skinner, The Eagles, Rush, Gretta Van Fleet, Black Sabbath, Kiss, Credence Clearwater Revival, Nazareth, The Guess Who, Bachman Turner Overdrive, Neil Young, these are just a few of my favorites. Pick one and react. This is my favorite type of music, and I enjoy seeing your reaction when you first listen to what I listen to everyday. Excellent job.
Do Freddie Mercury featuring Montserrat Caballe- Barcelona Definitely different than anything you’ve done yet. Extra culture for ya lol. Opera with Freddie’s style, of course
Queen - White Queen - (A night at the Odeon Hammersmith1975) The nastiest solo of all time. Plus Freddie Mercury was drunk, and killed it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Haha your face at the beginning of the second verse, pulling the face of a future winner about to to smash the world up! Great band, great song, great reaction!
the reason why they looked young was probably because of the lighting. this was recorded pretty close toward the end. freddie looked heavier here because they had taken a two-year break from performing and probably also because he had learned that he had AIDs. anyway great reaction!!! I was WAITING for this!! :D
"No Particular Place To Go" by Chuck Berry. "The Wanderer" by Dion "Highway Star" by Deep Purple (the album version) "Across the Border" by ELO. thousands more.
This is where it all started for me. I remember being about 5 or 6 years old and my dad listening to it and me running around the house singing it haha. Thanks bro
This WAS when Freddie was ill. For a better example of his energy and vitality before his health began to wane, I like "Another One Bites The Dust" LIVE performance at Wembley! Freddie was a powerful singer and had a great connection with his audience. Must see!
You should react "you take my breath away (live at Hyde Park 1976)" or "in the lap of the gods (Hammersmith Odeon 1975)" I my opinion queen live go to another level. But you can react "these are the days of our life" (last Freddie video) and mother love (last Freddie song - last verse is with Brian May voice)
First off I LOVE Queen; grew up with throughout my highschool years till 1991 when Freddie passed away; this song by Brian, was close to the end of their careers 1989.~~you wanna try country~~Skynyrd~~my fav. is JJ Cale's Call me The Breeze; or Sweet Alabama, Free Bird, Simple Man. RIP Ronnie, died too young~
ANY AC/DC video from the "River Plate Concert". Heart - Barracuda, Magic Man, Crazy on You. Metallica - Whiplash. You want to talk about having "different energy" from a rap artists.... try giving one of those a try and you will see how different it can be. Especially when you bounce from AC/DC's "concert crowds" to Heart's Acoustic/Vocal focus to Metallica's "heavy metal" sounds.
Queen. Prophetic name. They are global rock royalty to this day. Freddie no longer with us but Queen still touring after 40 odd years. I'm seeing them at the O2 in June with Adam Lambert.
Thanks Layedbak. This is my 3rd favorite Queen song (behind '39 and Somebody to Love). This song is from 1989. Queen had stopped touring by this time. Freddie was sick and the story goes that he grew the beard to hide the lesions that were starting to appear on his face.
Heya Layedbak. I don't know if you knew this, but Freddie did a version of 'Under Pressure' with David Bowie singing along with Queen. Freddie kept hitting higher and higher notes, to the point it was said that David just stood there, jaw dropped, unable to believe what he was hearing. I think the one I am referring to is from Queen: Greatest Hits Vol II, 2nd track. enjoy!
