When Layne wanted to take over the vocal percussion when VPs Scott Porter left for an acting career, Geoff helped him get started. Layne just ran with it - he has become a master beatboxer. If you are interested, Geoff and Kathy did a video discussing her profound hearing loss and how they dealt with it. You'd think it would be pretty much a bummer but there is so much love and joy between them that you just want to hug them.
Anything VoicePlay does is just great. I still think you'd really enjoy VoicePlay's cover of "The Lion Sleeps Tonight". They had a great time with the computer on that one. I don't know anyone that didn't just smile the whole way through and many laugh out loud at the computer antics.
Geoff started letting his hair grow when his wife was pregnant, then with a baby. then a toddler, now a little kid, he left it long. I'm assuming that Kathy must like it. Their Boy Bands in Five Minutes is fantastic!!
In one of the BTS or chats, it was mentioned that it was long and he wanted to cut it but Kathy talked him into waiting after the wedding to cut it. He looks so young with it short.
Thank you for reacting to this. I don’t know why but there’s something about this song that I just love. And I love that it’s the high tenor and the low bass together. Must’ve been very interesting to arrange for it. In the behind the scenes that they put out for the patrons, Eli who is the tenor 2 did the camera work. Geoff pointed out that it was appropriate since Eli was going to be married in a few months. In the behind the scenes you can see his (now) wife Ashley in the background rocking out to to the song and pointing to Eli with a big grin on her face. It was pretty funny. They are just one big family.
Layne was the baritone originally. The original beat boxer was Scott Porter when the group was called 4to5. He came back to do the Halo theme with VoicePlay. If you react to that one you may need a box of tissues for the material after the song finishes.
You commented on how high Earl went near the end. Did you notice it was three part ? Earl center (lead), Earl right (harmony), and Geoff left of center (baritone) (Geoff far right is bass, far left is percussion for clarification.)
Have you had the chance to see VoicePlay's Road Trip video? It's an older video; a bit longer, and a bit different than the usual music video, but when you really need a smile and a laugh, this is one of the best choices. It's so relatable, and VoicePlay make the scenario so clever.
This one doesn't get the attention it deserves but I love it . Earl sound so different here from how we normally hear him. Another two man video is Geoff and Eli in Love Yourself, with Geoff again showing off his various skills.
If you want silly, you should react to Drunken Sailor. They had a great time with that one. This is off the topic of VoicePlay, but I’d be interested in hearing your thoughts on Eosinophilic granuloma. My cat was diagnosed with it several years ago, but it only got worse when taking steroids. Three specialists, four CT scans and several biopsies later, she now has two holes between her pallet and her nasal cavity. And the skin is too friable (?) to be considered for a skin graft to close them up. My vet and everyone else here that have seen her are at a total loss. I’m not asking for a free consult, but would be interested to learn your thoughts on the condition and I don’t believe you’ve done a video on that topic.
Hmmm I’ve never seen anyone recommend this one lol Everything they do is great but I think you’d probably enjoy songs you are familiar with even more. Maybe? I hope you’ll keep reacting to them! ❤
It's so tough because I want to expose myself to songs I'm not familiar with so I can expand my 'go to' music play list... But there's also something to be said for songs I already know and love!!!! Yes, I absolutely intend to keep doing mental health breaks! There are some weeks (like this one) where I simply did not have the time/energy to research/write a script/film/edit an educational video. These videos take 30ish% the time of an educational video so I definitely take advantage of that when I need a break! 💜
