Adam's first bike drop! And it's my bike.....
Sorry for the lesser quality on this film- damaged my GoPro and sent it back for a replacement!
Adam and I lived together at Uni. He is keen to get out there and have some proper adventures but has never ridden an adventure bike on or off road. Here he has a go on my 890 R on a nice safe field. I wanted him to drop it to get past that initial fear.

Great to see the bike from a complete newcomer's perspective and to see the mistake that led to the drop. Hopefully now Adam will have more confidence for the off road experience day although he will find the AT is very top heavy.

I have dropped my 2021 890 ADV-R 9 times so far! I am gimping around from a bad knee now. Five drops were in deep dry sand (bike is too heavy for sand, in my opinion). The other 4 drops have been my fault- exacerbated by the fact the seat is so high I can barely plant the balls of my feet on the ground both sides at the same time. I put a lower seat on from KTM (20 mm lower) and that has helped but by the time I get my foot firmly planted on the ground- she's going over and it's time to bail! (Remember my knee?). I carry an Eastbound ratchet jack to help stand it up (especially loaded with 50 lbs. of camping gear). There are times when I wished for a lighter bike (like my mountain bike or Honda 300 crf) but now I try to avoid sand if I can. I am really enjoying the bike-love the power and technology and have not had any problems in 6,000 miles.

Dropped mine a lot- probably 25+, though it's getting much less now. I also find it's a struggle to keep it up on tip toes and once it starts going it's almost impossible to stop.

The Honda OR experience are a great couple of days - I did it when deciding what to buy and opted for the 890 due to the AT being really top heavy - KTM Sweetlamb are def the place to go if you want to learn how to ride an 890 properly off road

Thanks Rob and looking forward to it. Spent a weekend at Sweet Lamb in September last year at the start of my off road journey and booked in for the Silver course in August. It’s a brilliant experience there. The Honda OR was just much closer to home for Adam.

@@advnoobie6061 I did my silver just over a week ago you'll love it!! - wait until you do the downhill off camber skid turn with a drop off - certainly made me sweat a bit!! There this weekend with the Baja.

I agree and stick by this 99.9% of the time but risk assessed a flat field as OK and it actually felt quite nice :). And he probably drive his lawn mower faster 🤣
