Wonderful, thank you for taking us along. What a jump, straight from your test pass to the biggest adventure bike out there (well, all most). In any case it's remarkable and your quite right this is the first illustration of someone coming straight from getting his licence to jumping on a R1250 GSA on RU-vid, incredible thank you. As you mentioned as long as your responsible and very careful you'll be alright. Please let us know how you get on. Wishing well.
Srećno i pamet u glavu.
Hvala ljepo!
Here's a pro tip... always keep one or two fingers on the brake lever, never ride just twisting the whole throttle with your hand. It's both much safer and gives you a lot more control. Try it out and you'll never be able to go back.
@@muhamedtoromanovic6188 how is it going for you now ? I am getting my license soon and am going to buy an all be it older 2006 gs1200 how has it been for you so far ?
Hey awesome video! I couldn’t find any video like this so thank you ! I started riding on a 1250 gsa as well! Please make more video and share your experience ! Ride safe friend :)
I want to record the same tour again but now I have a bit more experience (1500 km in total). It will be interesting to compare those videos. However, I still ride much slower than the average rider, so the video might be a bit boring :P
This is excellent thank you. My instructor is also advising the same bike for me which surprised me as I expected him to say start with a smaller bike such as the F750GS. However when I stand next to one in the showroom it seems very intimidating.
This is the kind of video I need to see. I’m going to get my license and this is the bike I’m going to buy. I want to see you make more videos of your experience with this bike
Congrats! Generally any bike in this class (this heavy, engine size, power etc) are not considered a beginner bike, but that being said if you are a responsible rider who practice well, understand the bike, take things slow and study, learn and adapt to it gradually then any bike can be a beginner bike. GS being a very well built, engineered and balanced bike it can very well be a beginner bike if you respect the bike and learn with it. There is no hard and fast rule for a beginner bike as long as you are a responsible rider. I owned and rode singles and twins under 800-900cc max for a long time. This year I bought a brand new BMW S1000XR M. Its a totally different, very powerful, relatively big and heavy super bike derived super sports bike. I took it slowly for first few weeks and now I am comfortable and did many 400-500 miles rides solo as well as with other riders. Its a matter of time to get used to it as long as you take it slowly, seriously and well!
Thanks you for sharing your experience. The big downside of the GS is its weight. I allready dropped it once but luckily it did not take any damage :) But the good thing is that it has many security features, most importand ABS Pro and Traction Control and both systems take your lean angle into account. This might safe you when you for example do a panic break. I feel much safer now as at the beginning. Maybe I should record the same tour once again so I can compare the videos and see my progress. In the end everything depends on your responsibility as a rider. It is importand not to overestimate your skills and to be realistic and honest to yourself. Lukily I am 45 years old, sometimes age brings also advanteges :)
@@muhatoro6205 Same here. Late 40s with lots of experience since I am riding for almost 30 years. Most new bikes have good security and rider aid features and they really help. My XR also have all these and I opted all additional and optional packages to make sure it doesn't miss anything. Dynamic ESA, ABS Pro, DTC, Lean angle, Wheelie control and you name it! Yes the most important thing is to understand the bike, understand your shortcomings, adapt, learn and gradually master it. These bikes are well beyond most of our capabilities, so try to reach there patiently. Here is mine - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-D4OwhDU8m98.html
@@muhamedtoromanovic6188 Sure :). XR is a special bike. I was done with all these twins and needed a change and wanted an inline 4, high revving bike. Its the best bike I ever owned. Its basically a sport bike you can take it to the track, but with touring ergonomics. Try it sometime later when you get bored with that boxer, it would give you another level of fun 😀
@@ridingdreamer Sounds interesting. Maybe I can ask BMW to rent me one at my next service, should be in one year or at 15000km. I have had my first service at 1000km and they game me a G 310 R but for me as a beginner even this was an interesting experience. But in one year or after 15000km I could be ready to give it a go :)
Hi, how's it going? I'm getting my driver's license and thinking about my first motorcycle. I'm not sure the R 1250 GS will be good for me. Can you write if buying this motorcycle as the first is a good decision? What are your impressions after 11 months? Can you advise something?
I passed my test in 1986 here in uk i first rode honda c90 i had many bikes all small upto 125 upto 1990 then went to car i passed car test in 1987 i had a long time away from biking but i had a trigger moment in 2006 and bought a gsx600f 1988 reg. I have had many bikes since then ti name a few zzr600. 2 blackbirds z750 z1000sx cbf1000 bandit 650 oil cooled and 650 watercooled 2 r1200rt 2005 models. Rsv mille x2. Tuono gen 1 2022 s1000xr first new bike didnt like it i got that ex display in april this year. last week i traded that in for same as yours. Its truly the best bime i have ever owned its git a bit of everything. Its heavy but its so well made and well balanced the gs and gsa are a legend. S1000xr quickshifter was able to be used with care on all gears not so on boxer twi. So i have started to ignore quickshifter on 1 2 3 just use it further up. My bike has no led headlight due to semiconductor shortage. I have the voucher for having it fitted when available. Did you get the none led headlight
I have the LED headlight, my dealer told me that it was one of the last bikes with LED due to that shortage but with the voucher you should get the LED headlights and I would definitely upgrade if I were you. Strange times, we can not order per configuration, you just buy what is there or you leave it. By the way: Nice list of bikes, you have a lot of experience with different bikes, this makes you appreciate your new R1250GSA even more. I think I should rent some different bikes from time to time just to grab some experience for comparison.
@@muhamedtoromanovic6188 just go to dealers and get test rides. As you said i should get the led well i have a choice get led when they are available or spend £500 in the motorrad shop aha no way my bike is called vikki and she will be getting the adaptive led headlight in due course. Keep riding and posting my friend incidently which country are you in
@@austinmatthews347 I am in Germany, near Stuttgart. So you do not want to wait to use your voucher instead you would pay 500 pounds for the lights? Can you at least sell the voucher or get some sort of a refund? Any chance to find out how long you would need to wait for BMW to get the LED headlights?
@@muhamedtoromanovic6188 there is no way to know when bmw will get semiconductors but i have no worries because my voucher states i will get the adaptive led headlight the one that mives up and down and side to side. Or i can spend the £500 i wont spend the £500 because my bike is destined to be like yours. Its just a temporary issue.
It's entirely your choice and your business, but in my opinion it is utter madness for you to purchase and expect to ride a bike of that size and expect to stay upright. You haven't got the experience as yet by your own admission, so why risk your safety and that of others by getting on a bike that basically you can't ride competently. Sorry just opinion
Well, I can ride it competently withing the speedlimit, mostly 70km/h or 100km/h. As long as I keep it inside the limits of my skills everything is fine. Whoever wants to ride much faster should leave the public road and go to the race track anyways. I can have fun without maximazing cornering speed. Just ride along and enjoy the landscape :)
@@muhatoro6205 Not a crazy choice at all... The GS feels much lighter than its weight because the center of gravity is low (unlike, for example, an Africa Twin or even a Tenere 700), it's very well balanced, the telelever front suspension makes braking much safer, you sit not too high but with a commanding position, the engine is very linear with great torque so you're not tempted to rev it up. The main challenge is getting in and out of tight parking areas where you may have to push it (because of the weight) so you need to think ahead when parking. It's worth doing some advanced lessons to get more confident on corners and slow speed maneuvering. Ride it carefully and it's safer than a scooter ridden recklessly.
A bizarre choice. After a lifetime of riding motorcycles I cannot understand why anyone, least of all an inexperienced rider would chose an overweight monster like that. I hope you get to enjoy your new toy but I think that you could have had a lot more fun on a smaller more practical, more capable bike at the fraction of the price. We can probably put it down to clever advertising and the clever use of RU-vid influencers.
