@@MichaelCH2007 there's some things missing, like the float yeah, and Peter flying his way up to duel Hook, instead of just climbing the ropes. But they're kind of minor things to me. I'm just happy to see this back.
I like the more restrained special effects and lighting in the intro. 2017 fantasmic didnt let the element of surprise or anticipation build. Not interrupting that intro with mickeys voiceover as well was the better way to do it. He still comes in later. There are a few examples of this throughout the show that make it feel more like 1.0 and I welcome it

Pros: • They reused the old choreography from the original version like the intro and the flower during the jungle. • The fountains were finally fixed! • Peter Pan segments has returned and they added the Lost Boys! • New pyrotechnics including Mickey breaks through the mirror instead of red flames and Maleficent burst with green flames like the original version. • The original exit music has replaced the Imagination song after the show. Cons: • The animatronic crocodile didn’t return due to the height when it’s too big to fit into storage like cavern. • The Magic Carpet didn’t return because some people believed that it was damaged during the incident. • The dragon animatronic is temporary unavailable ever since the incident from last year when it was on fire. They edit the version for a battle between Mickey and Maleficent. • More characters needed to fill in some empty spaces on Mark Twain like Pinocchio, Stitch, or Roger Rabbit. • Still need Lion King characters to be added in between the jungle scenes and the finale. Final review… 10/10
I rather see the Evil Queen transformation into old Hag returning instead of keeping Mickey breaks into the mirror in this version. No offense for me, giving that prior to 2017 revamp and still used at DHS version, this segment was the one of most favorite segments aside from the dragon battle with Mickey. Once the new animatronic dragon was unveiled, i think, it's time for Disney to remove Mickey breaks to the mirror part and reverted into Evil Queen transformation sequence, despite it had tangled at the princess segment.
I’m glad that Fantasmic returned to Disneyland, after being absent due to dragon malfunctioning. Glad that they brought back the Peter Pan segment to the show. Even though I loved Pirates of the Caribbean, it really didn’t clicked for me. It felt like a Fantasmic 2.5, mainly because they brought back the scene. I kind-of disappointed that the dragon wasn’t present, it’s not the same without it. Also, agreeing to the other comments - there are fewer characters at the end of the Mark Twain.
Now, if I was in charge of the Walt Disney Company, here’s how I would go about to improve Disneyland’s version of Fantasmic: - First, I’d bring back the Heartbeat of New Orleans show as a new pre-show entertainment prior to the main show. - Add in some new technology that wasn’t available to show in 1992 and 2015 (LED lighting, laser projection HD imagery, aerial and aquatic drones, stage robotics, etc.) - Remove some of Mickey’s “ooh’s” and “aah’s” along with the awkward added dialogue. - Improve the show’s soundtrack to make it sound more complete. - Bring back the projections and laser effects leading up to Mickey’s appearance. - Bring back Mickey’s original conductor choreography in the intro, like he’s commanding the fountains. - Have the spotlights on the tower do the 360° spins, like they used to. Add more lasers and color overall. - The flowers should’ve left after the Lion King segment. - Add in Timon, Rafiki and Baloo in the three barges during the Dixieland medley of the Jungle segment. - During the “Pink Elephants on Parade” segment, bring back the performers dressed as elephants on the island. - To help create a better transition, add in segments featuring Toy Story and The Little Mermaid prior to the Aladdin segment. And as for after the segment, add in one featuring Beauty and the Beast, where Luminere is singing “Be Our Guest” to Mickey. - Add in a new giant Tick-Tock Croc figure to the Peter Pan segment, with an alarm clock wrapped around its tail with spinning hands (spinning clockwise for a bit before turning around and around going counter clockwise). - Bring back the magic carpet that Aladdin and Jasmine were riding on. - Bring back Snow White to the Princesses segment (replacing Tangled). - During the “Poor Unfortunate Souls” segment, bring back the Flotsam and Jetsam skis. - Add in two new villains to help the Evil Queen take over Mickey’s imagination, Scar (from the Lion King) and Dr. Facilier (from The Princess and the Frog). - This may sound a bit bold, but hear me out. When “Night on Bald Mountain” plays, it would be cool to see an animatronic Chernabog summon spirits from Bald Mountain - aka, Harper’s Mill. - Add in a new version of the dragon that’s fire resistant. - Increase the number of characters on the Mark Twain riverboat. - Bring back the original choreography that Tuxedo Mickey had in the end. With these changes, I think that this new version of Fantasmic will definitely become the talk of the town for years to come.
It not the same without the dragon. I was thinking they could use drones to create the affect. Drones swirling around maleficent to create the dragon would be pretty cool.

Thanks for showing us the new Fantasmic show that debuted last night. My son Tristan is looking forward to seeing this. He has a sorcerer Mickey hat that we bought him when we visited in 2021. He's been waiting 3 years. 😢

Yes, elements are missing and needed. But in time, they'll work out what works and doesn't, and eventually bring back Murphy (Dragon). The show still looks so rad, and glad its back at Disneyland.
Great video.. great to at least have the show back but you can tell it needs so much work. I can’t tell if the changes were just budget cuts or they were actually trying to change the show for the better.
In regards to just the finale (after Maleficent), it seems less busy. Which to me is a good thing. It feels more epic rather than chaotic. Though, I do think they can add just a few more things. Super glad it’s back though. I’m happy Peter Pan is back for nostalgic reasons even though the Pirates of the Caribbean ship looked cooler. Dragon definitely needs to come back in some form, though.
The revised score feels very incomplete in sections. Almost as if some of the sound channels accidentally dropped out. Entire instruments are missing during the opening sequence.
Nice to have the show back - and agree with the other comments...there are fewer characters at the end on the Mark Twain too...missing are Chip and Dale, Alice Mad Hatter, White Rabbit, Green Army Men, Jessie, Marry Poppins, Dopey, Perl and Suzy... be nice if they add them back, and even some old schoolers like Rogger Rabbit, Three Little Pigs, all the dwarfs, Tigger and Winnie the Pooh
Chip, Dale, Alice, White Rabbit, Green Army Men, Jessie, Mary...those were all back for nights 2 and 3. The reason there were fewer on night 1 was due to a costume change issue. Pretty much the full complement is back (32 characters on nights 2 and 3).

So what the hell do we call it then? Fantastic 2.5 or Fantasmic 3.0? Mainly because It has a recycled scene, which I’m very happy they brought back, but I don’t know if we can call at 3.0, mainly because of that. This is tricky. This is work Fantasmic 2.5 or something.
Saw this live last night, here are some of my thoughts: First, I’m so happy it’s back! It definitely filled the Fantasmic shaped void in my Disneyland loving heart. Coming from a college near the OC area, I knew some cast and crew that were laid off or relocated after the incident, so I’m glad they got to come back. I like how they brought back snippets of 1.0 such as the sky light shooting up at the beginning, and some of the old pyro cues, and mixed it in to the new version. This may sound a bit blasphemous but I’m glad they didn’t just bring back 1.0. As good as a show it was, I really like a lot of the improvements that 2.0 brought (new lighting, projections, revamped score, etc). That said I was SO HAPPY TO SEE PETER PAN AGAIN! It’s such a classic and it brought me back to when I first saw it as a child! I do wish they improved the lighting and maybe added projections to the house like they did with the old POTC scene to make it fit the feeling of 2.0, but it was still nice. The final battle I’m not too stoked about. I liked the added pyro effects and it was kind of clever the way they skipped the old dragon raise blackout, but it was no dragon. Then again, I know all too well why they didn’t have a dragon. I just hope that this ending is a short term fix for a bigger solution, and I’m optimistic that this isn’t the final battle we’ll be stuck with. I’m just glad we have the show back for now. Let’s hope we see it grow even more in the coming years
Ummmm, ok not gonna lie I’m kinda let down just about every change I spotted both compared to 2.0 (2017-2023) and original: 1) the tiki torches on the Jungle Book raft/float/barges weren’t lit 2) did Hook miss the mark for the end if the Pirate scene or are they not having him swing along the back of the ship trying to evade Tick-Tock? It looked like he was holding the rope but just didn’t swing for some reason. 3) Tick-Tock as a projection leaves much to be desired compared to the old float. Wasn’t one of the reasons they switched to Pirates in 2017 because the old Tick-Tock was too tall to fit under the train? 4) Aladdin and Jasmine dancing on the stage is fine but if they didn’t want to bring back the magic carpet, I wish they would give them a 4th float/raft/barge (maybe there isn’t room in the storage marina for another one?) 5) with no carpet it would have been nice to get the Evil Queen’s transformation back as that was so good. 6) I think Maleficent’s “B-mode” projections were more climactic than what they have now, I really hope a new dragon is being worked on and just wasn’t ready to debut this summer. 7) there were definitely less characters on the Mark Twain than in previous years. Last time I saw it the bottom level would have had Goofy, Minnie, Donald, Chip, Dale, and probably Pluto, the top row would have had Alice, White Rabbit, the Tweedles on the side and Buzz, Woody, Jessie, and 2 green army men on the back. Middle row had Genie with Jasmine & Aladdin, Dopey with Snow, and probably some more that I’m forgetting right now. There was a lot more empty space on the boat than in the past though.
i completely agree with you, i also think that they added some more projections to the background, but just adding some projections won’t cover all of the amazing physical effects that were lost, now, i don’t even care about the dragon that much, i just want the crocodile and the carpet back.
There are rumors going around that a new dragon is currently being built by a British company. Also, I don't know if this is true or not, but the dragon may return in time for dl's 70th anniversary. Other than that, I think the torches on the barge not being lit is a technical issue. It may be fixed in the next few showings or so hopefully. Afterwards, the carpet probably burned down. They're likely trying to renovate the pit at this moment and remaking the carpet, so expect it to return possibly in a few months or so maybe. I'm just glad this show is back after a year and a half. Hopefully Disney continues to update this show to make it better.
These seem to be just minor show show changes with big removals. I know the floating carpet effect was often problematic and we know about "Murphy". Maybe removing them was an additional cost saving measure? The Peter Pan scene was developed years ago so that was not to tough to insert. Question: Why did it take so long to bring this show back? This show just has some elements removed and a well-known Peter Pan scene put back in. It didn't even require a new orchestra recording or any real studio or sound work. I would guess this show has a lower nightly maintenance cost over the last one? I dunno,...this feels like a "Fantasmic Light" or maybe "Diet Fantasmic".

I was never on board with the Pirates of the Caribbean replacement. As for the Maleficent moment, I don’t hate it, but it feels a little…. historically inaccurate. Like doing a remake of Mulan without Mushu! 😏🤣😂
Points to Fantasmic for not using repeated footage for the Chernabog ghost sequence. The lack of dragon, I can understand. It kinda feels like a glow down without the Pirates of the Caribbean segment.
I feel like they could use Disney World because they still have their head mold and they have the money to make another one of Disney World so I feel like in the future they could do that

Why they dont rebuild the dragon with non-flammable material? Like the dragon at Festival of Fantasy parade. They rebuild it after burned down during the parade.
The dragon fight is sad. The part where the build up music cuts to the part where the dragon is supposed to be revealed feels awkward, and now the dramatic climax of the song is just kind of “ oh no, the pillar she’s standing on has reached its maximum height”.
I was there last night and my takeaway is that the "standby" guest gets the shaft again. So much space is taken up by people who purchased various "Fantasmic! Dining Packages)" that all of the good spots were instead reserved and taken up by people who came in just minutes before showtime. Maybe there should be ONE designated area for the dining patrons BUT there was so much lost space for the regular day guest that people were furious at the loss of real estate. At least they don't require Fantasmic! reservations anymore. That was really harsh.
Why didn't you Brand New Murphy the Dragon Returns size 50-Foot-Tall Animatronic Dragon from Fantasmic Preview 1991, and Disneyland Fantasmic Commercial 1992?
There was a Pixar program (limited run) right after Fantasmic ended on the Friday 930 show. Many people had departed once Fantasmic ended so, it was a bit confusing.
If they weren't going to bring the dragon back (which is understandable), they should have swapped out the finale for a different villain and made it something spectacular again. Let's have some imagination instead of the backup show from 15 years ago.
The ONLY reason you got away with no dragon is because you were gone for OVER a year and thus got the sympathy vote, but it won't last, it MUST have the dragon, any alternative is just not the same and won't resonate the same magic AT ALL! Give us the dragon!!!
20:40 Watching a drag queen on stilts is what people have been waiting an entire year for in this updated version of Fantasmic, which is the B-Mode that occurs whenever Murphy (the dragon) wasn't working. Since 1992, I've witnessed the changes, and I must say, it's thanks to people like you who still go and endure the crowds that I don't have to waste money on a downgraded experience. Disney had a whole year to improve, but they kept it in B-Mode. It's disappointing that they couldn't invest in a new dragon, especially considering how much money we spend on sodas alone. It's a slap in the face, but not surprising since Disney doesn't prioritize creativity anymore. They're more like financial engineers than "Imagineers." If they can't even fund a prop for a historic show, it's clear they don't care anymore and it took the dragon burning down for them to finally fix all the fountain nozzles, lol. Disney doesn't prioritize creativity anymore. ALL the money they get, they give it to their exes and cut departments like Disney Imaginary that Universal is beating them in theme park industry. Hell, there new drone show Disney Springs was pathetic compared to what the Angeles (Anaheim baseball team) did for May the 4th Be With You.
There is no such thing as “B-mode” on a show of this complexity. There are, however, over 100 contingencies for unexpected events to keep the show going. This version of the show probably took months of reprogramming and installing new effects around Maleficent.
repairing everything else that got damaged and melted up by that big accident. It affected stuff all around the island, not just itself. You need to meet a safety standard and a standard of presentation to be able to reopen.

They had an opportunity to REALLY revamp the show and make it better but without the dragon and replacing with Maleficent just standing on a podium fell flat and a missed opportunity to add new effects and a new climactic scene/villan. Oh well...another flip for Disney
A great show that still made me very sad. The last time I went to Disneyland was in April 2019, before all the woke madness. I think the Chinese virus screwed with some people's minds. I can't look at Disneyland anymore and want to go there. Maybe I'll turn hypocrite if I have 6 months to live, but probably not. My reasoning: Is it insane to hire a man to dress like a woman in the little kids dress shop? I think yes. They destroyed splash mountain for being too white. And they're changing Haunted Mansion because the ghosts are too white? I live in California, and I assume that the crowds make up a majority of the lunatics here. The only reason Disney stays in business.
