How awesome... you needed some alone time and we all get to come along! That's my kinda Spring day. I could get used to that, ;-) Keep on rockin' on... so long as we get to follow along.
I know Theo probably went nuts when he saw the fossils and that half-green jasper. :D I myself am just freaking out over those giant agates. I can't wait to see what Drogon makes of them.
Tempat anda banyak sekali batu akik, seandainya saja dekat tempatnya ? Akan saya habisin tanpa sisa,,hahaaa Terimakasih perburuan yang sangat menyenangkan
Great video, definitely understand the need to go rock hunting alone in the peace. I enjoyed watching your video, really loved the green conglomerate. One question about the slices, do they ever break in the tumbler. Hi from New Zealand.
@@MontanaRockMom I don't have a vibe tumbler yet, but we have been slicing up small slices of stones, I was a bit worried about putting them in my rotary. Your huge Drogon saw is really cool.
Thanks for another inspiring video! I'm just starting out in my rockin adventures and just got brand new mini dragons to slay rocks with(14" HP slab, 6" HTD trim saw and a 8" cabking)! Hehehe I live just south of lake Michigan in Indiana and am planning a trip to Montana this summer for some of those Montana agates to play with! I would love to go on a rock hunt with you while I'm out there! Until next time, rock on! 💚
Man you are so freaking blessed! Yellowstone has got to be THE best river for gravel bar rockhounding. The creeks in Missouri are good but… not as good as what y’all have! I hope you enjoyed some time to yourself and thanks for bringing us along. Sometimes I go to the creek and just leave the camera and phone at home 😅 I get it! Chopper is an EXCELLENT rockhounding dog though I was just talking with my wife Ashley this morning about the video where he found your hammer. I totally get it though I’m sure it’s an ordeal and that nose is just as good at finding stinky things to roll in as your rock hammer 😂 I’m sure he needs a thorough bath every time you go out hounding and I don’t blame you at ALL for leaving him out this time. Just between you and me… I like Chopper better than some other famous rockhounding dogs… 🤫 don’t tell anyone else I said 🤣
* I Love your 6.5 I # Agate.. the bands are AWESOME . . You don't need a dog, you need a pack mule to take out the Big ones.. LOL ~ OH, I want that blue/green conglomerate.. Really Nice.. ~ The first one you sliced needs to be sliced thin to see if it is an Iris Agate.. with a rainbow in there..
I have to admit I was having MRM withdrawals welcome back 😊😉 Ice usually plays a part in cracking up rocks especially fossils. The water gets in cracks and ice pushes them open. You found some more bubbles and smileys.. you got your rock on woohoo.
Hey Rock mom, I'm a new subscriber. Looking at your video's, I can see you like rock hunting a lot. I do as well. If I can only get the wife to do more exploring with me. Lol. Any ways have you ever here of Mud fossil University? Well any ways there's a guy by the name of Roger that has figured out what these stone's we are finding really are on this planet. You can agree or disagree that's your choice my dear. But too look at this planet out of a different lens is great. And if we the people start learning more about our planet, then maybe we will learn to respect it even more. I've watched some other's videos on rock hunting Liz creator out of Australia is my favorite. She's so beautiful within, big heart and loves too go noodling as she calls it but it is so much better than using explosives. I love all you guy's that just simply go noodling for rocks. Or should I say a fossilized being, just string your chords, lol, go check out (Mud fossil University) and just listen, do not be quick too comment just watch and study the human anatomy, this is going too blow your mind. Much love and let use work together out of the love for our planet. My thoughts, maybe it started dying the minute our love for it decreased. Bring light too the people, all of the rock hunters of today. Let's show the the world true love, threw loving our planet.
Oh wow. The fossils , and the ammonite. So cool. And the petrified wood. And holy agates. As to the needing solitude i think all of us rock hounds like it. Give us our time to let our minds wander and relax and dream. Spring is coming along here slowly in Saskatchewan only been a few degrees above 0degrees Celsius but its coming. I cant wait to be outside rock hounding and in my garden barefoot. Nature rules. Thank you for taking us on your trip and adventure Kim. 😀👍
Your enthusiasm is contagious. Your treasures are almost as beautiful as you. I would love to be able to rockhound but I'm not physically able due to back problems so I live vicariously through folks like you and Theo. Thanks for sharing.
I don’t know if I like the fossils or agates better. I need to make a road trip. Lol. Glad you are able to get out and hound. I need to find a good wind mike that Bluetooths to the phone as well so don’t need to do voice overs.
Just one more Lady a little specs and reading for those interested. Fossilized Wood, by James Parkinson - Devonian and carboniferous fossils of Yellowstone National Park- The Petrified Forrest by Sherwood Robert Emmet. Books can really enhance your hunting and identification skills
Your beautiful eyes and smile are a perfect way to precede your video... imho. I was on your river at this time last year and had hoped to come back this year with my kayak until gas prices got so crazy. I have permission with a private ranch owner around Forsyth/Miles City area that has a couple of miles of river front and a beautiful access/take out point. I took out 202 lbs of agate/pet. wood/jasper last year just walking his gravel bars. It was so much fun! Would you and/or Theo be interested in a kayak trip sometime? I live in SW Missouri and have traveled quite a few places for rocks but love your river and the people of Montana!
OK Kim, we need to talk. It's really not cool that you put up a video and I didn't have time to sit down and watch it when I got the notification. You were doing so good up until now. I'll pass it off as a fluke.😄 Seriously though, good to see you back up and out, congratulations again on the 5K subscribers. That first MT agate you sliced may not have had as much moss as you were hoping for, but it was nice and fracture free. Everything was great as always, thank you.
it should be illegal to have a hunt that good! that greenish conglomerate was so cool! that last slab at 17:05 looked like a mountain limned with a forest fire. just over a month before i get to hunt the yellowstone myself! can’t wait!!! hope to maybe see some of you Billings folks at the rock show too! Rock on Kim!
Using the sun to find agates is definitely not cheating. It's making the most of your resources!😃 I did the same thing while hunting for geodes that were weathering out of the hillside behind our campsite. The late afternoon sunlight was just the perfect angle to light them up! You found some amazing agates! I love seeing what they look like cut and can definitely imagine some made into jewelry!
You are spoiled. I'm on the Spokane river where the Missoula floods deposited miles and miles of river gravels. The problem is that I'd take home most of the rocks that SURROUND the ones you pick up if I saw them here. I'm jealous of your river. Spring on the Yellowstone. Ya...you're spoiled.
Nothing like tuning in on a Sunday morning and hearing "HOLY, HOLY AGATE!!!" blasting from my laptop! Don't need no church today! Another astounding discovery session, and I know what you mean about just "having a day"! I can imagine that Drogon burped after consuming that load of material! Thanks, Mom!!
Glad you had a great day My favorite is the blue conglomerate. I'd love to see it cut and polished But I'm also wowed by the last slices with the clear pockets! 🤩
Super fulfilling walk along the yellowstone. Yes there times when you just NEED a day alone. I can't believe all the beautiful rocks you found. Big ones, medium one and various types. Take a deep breath, sit on a rock and enjoy the beauty around you. Now, get out of the wind and warm up. Your saws await. Keep the goodness coming, we need your wonderful you leading us around. Be happy, safe and stay healthy 😷⚒
I get that. We worry our dog will find a rattler or a skunk! He gets his snake shot yearly. Plus he gets overheated easily. Hope to have something to show you soon. Love seeing your videos and being inspired! Take care!
It's good to see that Drogon is well nourished. Thank you for letting us come along while you hunt for his food. Quite the bag of groceries this time! I'm so envious of your incredible green jasper, and the baculites are really cool! I'm glad you got to have some time on your own. Take care.
Where abouts do you rock hound? My family lives in Libby, so when I visit I try and Rick hound off the Kootenai and certain new creeks. Any tips would be welcome!
Wow, what a beautiful day out there, so many wonderful finds. Great video, thanks for inspiring us all. Love the agates, jasper, petrified wood and super cool fossils. Thanks for sharing your passion and hard work Kim! I'm only lucky enough to go out rockhounding once a week, everytime I'm about to go it snows in MI.
I'm over our snow as well. I have a feeling we may get some spring snow surprises soon. Thumbs down on that! Bring on summer! I love cooling off in the river.
