You may have already seen this, but I posted a link on ScubaBoard to these videos. The author of the Deep 6 regulator maintenance manual, Jim Lapenta, commented that you did an excellent job.

l watch both video, 1 & 2. Enjoy them immensely. l was hoping to see you do a Magnehlic (vacuum Test) and see the breathing effort., on the 2nd stage regulator.

Hi i just saw your videos, I'm from Mexico, it's really good tutorial congratulations, I have one question, what's the brand from the digital magnehelic that you use once you calibrate the second stage? Thank you so much

This was a very well put together video, l was hoping to see the Rebuilding kit, and what it contains. Possible where to buy it, and who manufactures it.

Thanks for sharing your knowledge. Is HOG D3 servicing similar to this one?
@maxdiver9038
@maxdiver9038 Год назад
Thank you for watching! Looking on Hog D3 service kit and it does looks similar do Deep6, the owner of Deep6 is the same person who designed Hog regulators. I also heard that both produced at the same factory. I would recommend before servicing to measure IP to know what to adjust it after the service. I would not be surprised if IP is 135psi same as Apeks DST and Deep6 Signature.

Great video! question? I see you used Tribolube-71 for the o-rings does it matter whether or not in the specs say to use Christolube?
@maxdiver9038
@maxdiver9038 3 года назад
Thank you for watching and your comment! Technically both should work just fine. Tribolube 71 is a newer product and suppose to be less harmful to your metal parts. Please see quote from Tribolube response on one of the members of Scubaboard community. "There are a few manufacturers that Irradiate the PTFE then Jet Mill it (air milling), It makes the particle friable or more brittle so the PTFE particle will fracture into a smaller particle that is irregular and jagged in structure for more surface area. The Irradiated particle can be heat treated to bake off the residual. but if that is not done there is the possibility for it to react with freshly rubbed metal surfaces(aluminum, titanium, and magnesium). This can release LEWIS ACID which in turn can produce hydrogen fluoride gas. I can't tell you which ones use this PTFE but they are. AS THE CONSUMER YOU SHOULD ASK THE SUPPLIER OF YOU O2 GREASE AND FIND OUT. I can tell you though that the PTFE we use in Tribolube 71 is grown in situ as a crystalline form, and is absolutely not bombarded with gama radiation as a part of the manufacturing process. So it is non-corrosive."

Excellent video. Why do you like to use a polyurethane o-ring vs. a Viton for the DIN to tank connection?
@maxdiver9038
@maxdiver9038 3 года назад
Thank you for watching! Polyurethane costs a bit more but is well worth the price as the only reason I find I have to replace one is when it falls out and I lose it. My experience with this o-ring is that it is nearly indestructible. If it's leaking, it probably just needs to be cleaned. Polyurethane has excellent oxygen resistance and is very abrasion resistant.
@jeffworst9939
@jeffworst9939 3 года назад
@@maxdiver9038 The only down side of polyurethane that I know of is that it is sensitive to sunlight. But, if your 1st stage is either connected to a tank or covered by a dust cap most of the time, then this shouldn't be an issue. I also use Deep 6 regs (1st and 2nd stages) and have found them to be durable, reliable and easy to repair. I have about 250 dives on them. Looking forward to more of your videos on SCUBA gear maintenance.

@@jeffworst9939 Thank you. Yes UV sensitive , as you said it is always covered from light anyway.

Q: why not grease the DIN retaining Wheel NUT interior ?
@maxdiver9038
@maxdiver9038 2 года назад
That nut has a lot of play and not a concern to get seized. Also we do not want to grease any external components that get exposed to element as grease will attract dirt. Thank you for watching!

Q: Are you going to service also Mares or Apeks 1'st and 2'nd stages ?
@maxdiver9038
@maxdiver9038 2 года назад
Apeks first and second stages are the same as Deep6, it does have extra adjustment on the second stage in the knob, which helps get fine tuned the tension on the spring and low pressure seat. Mares looks very simple compared to deep6 this is what I found ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-HEe_eVlCErg.html&ab_channel=%CE%9D%CE%B9%CE%BA%CF%8C%CE%BB%CE%B1%CE%BF%CF%82%CE%A0%CE%B9%CF%84%CE%B1%CF%81%CE%AC%CF%82
