first start and oil change of my 82 XT250 in 2 years!

My 82 xt200 has a sight window. Same side, down low towards the front of the motor.

very nice man, i got me a 1981 xt250, i just need to order a oil filter for it, had my local bike shop look into it they couldnt find out what type i needed for the year n make.

We used to use the pinky dipstick on our bikes. Just stick your pinky in the hole and if it just touches oil, its good to go.

Sounds just like mine except mine is the white one also did you know the white xt250 is the same bike used in the movie first blood the first Rambo movie lol i call mine the Rambo bike they actually use a 2 stroke bike sound in the movie 😮

They are no Phillips head screws on Japanese bikes. The Japanese had their own standard called JIS. Google it.If you use Phillips head it destroys the slot. Get a JIS screwdriver.

That's a nice bike! I had a 73 yamaha dt3 250 that was in almost mint condition street legal 2 stroke. I rode it everywhere then decided I needed something a little bigger so I traded it for a 83 Honda shadow 500 that I still ride. That top end clatter is pretty normal wouldn't hurt to run through the valve clearance

How do you like the air filter box system on this bike and have you tried talking the carborator out yet

great bike buddy ive had mine 30 years love it just done a clutch change on it but i havent put it up on my channel yet but there is some other stuff on the XT .just bled two screws one on head and the other on top of filter housing ,i noticed you dident bleed yours ? worried about it seizing , im a worrier it will be fine but the law of sod follows me about lol hope your still enjoying yours ive just come across you .Ant from wales UK . ps might be cam chain rattling might need a little adjustment . subscribed

Do you by chance have a part number for that oil filter?

There’s no dip stick because if you look under your foot peg there’s a little glass window that lets you see how much oil you have
