This will be my 3rd year with tenacity…..it’s completely transformed my lawn ……two best things I’ve ever did ….1)tenacity application in the fall 2) stop mowing grass so short. in my opinion….those are the two BIGGEST things

@jeremy I’m in NY too, Long Island. It’s like a weird microclimate… I’ve been mowing year round at about 2.5 ( but my mower is electric so it’s really light, so it may be “floating” some). Some tenacity and a good split app pre emergent really made the biggest difference! I had exactly 2 crabgrass plants this year. My only nemesis is bent grass, and poa in the spring. Gonna hit the fall pre emergent this year for poa.

I'm in the middle of this process myself. I wish i knew about that Andersons weed and feed before now. I did tenacity at the start of summer in a blanket treatment that took care of some of the issues. In the last month I've done 2 blankets of momentum 4-score that has nuked almost everything that isn't grass, it even hurt the common Bermuda creeping in the fescue. Now I'm planning on tenacity with overseed and a spring preemergent.

This is a great video, this year my yard and weeks went way overboard. I am usually ahead of it each year, but this year I was hurt and had back surgery, so couldn't do my normal yard work like i usually do. So next year, this will really be a game changer. The only other question i have, this year moles showed up in mine and my neighbors' yards in droves, do you have any tips on clearing them or killing grubs and such to get them out? Learned so much from your channels, thank you!

I’m in the process of swapping my Bermuda grass with horse purse lane. It’s so thick and springy and only needs water once a week or so in southern Arizona. It’s insanely drought resistant. You can mow it. And it’s really hardy to being tread on.

First, I didn’t know I had dallisgrass! And didn’t honestly know about that weed before this video and had assumed it was all crabgrass. Thanks for the detailed and straight forward guidance! Another excellent video.

No problem glad it helped. Dallisgrass is a perennial too so its defintiely something you want to get rid of. At one time dallisgrass was believed to be a good plant for animals to graze on but ended up being toxic to them. So it isnt really good for anything these days

After this dry Summer here in Mass I'm applying Tenacity, then a Core Aeration, followed by Jonathan Green Black Beauty Ultra. Hopeully in a month I'll have my lawn back. BTW...yours is looking spectacular.

Jeff, Ihope you have better results than I did last September. I’m in Massachusetts as well. I killed the weeds with Tenacity, core aerated, Same seed as well as JG starter fert, then top dressed with peat moss with a roller. I have irrigation and got barely any grass. I even skipped the pre-emergent this spring hoping for more germination. I’m left with a huge lawn full of weeds again. Back to the drawing board!

Another great video. First video I have seen someone talk about andersons post emergent product. Everyone is always about their pre emergent. Anderson makes great products too. I know pre is best in spring and sometimes late summer going into fall for us warm season grass folks. what I like is you made a video for someone who just moved into a house and have to deal with the weeds now. So what would be a good strategy to use for the pre and most emergent products in a full year calendar? TIA

Excellent video. I bought the surge fertilizer in video because I have a lot of weeds on my lawn. I also plan on aerating my lawn and adding more seed. What order would you recommend? Can I aerate and then use surge fertilizer and seed afterward? Thanks!

From my experience Scotts weed and feed granules takes twice as much product as what it says to get only mediocre results. Its only worth it when I get a bag on clearance. Your original lawncare video from years ago along with some special products for southern soils, weeds, and grass was a great source to improve my lawn.

I have a clumping fescue dominated lawn. 13,000 sq. Feet. Should I just kill it and start over in the spring? Any info would be great. Been a sub for years and love the information you give us.

Silver, I’m in zone 7b. Backyard is about 1200 sf and a mix of fescue but mostly weeds. Prior owners never took care of it. Thick weeds. I need to seed now. I do like Anderson products. So I van weed and feed with their product and then seed with tall fescue? I’ll get tenacity, but have such a large area of weeds to kill. Thank you for your tutorials. I’m going to take pix along the way and I’ll tag you on IG since I’ll be following your advice. Lawn is half full sun and half moderate to most shade.

You are my lawn guru😂. Please, please, please post or send me a lawn maintenance schedule. I live in NY and I never know when to seed , weed or feed. Every year my lawn looks great for 1 minute and then overtaken by weeds, dead or bare spots and just awful the next minute. HELP!

I surprised this wasn’t mentioned considering how thorough Silver usually is. Tenacity is also a pre emergent that is safe to use before seeding. That new bottle is much better. That syringe it use to come with was kind of a pain in the ass.

Why not use a tow-behind sprayer (Northstar) and blanket spray tenacity along with another broadleaf herbicide like Speedzone? Wish I'd heard of Andersen's weed and feed before so I could've bought that instead. Based on your results, you obviously hit the nail on the head.

Can you suggest to me which is the best lawn type for me? I live in an area that is classified as BSh according to the Köppen-Geiger climate classification. In other words, it is considered a hot semi-arid climate. the average annual temperature is 27.2 °C | 81.0 °F. Precipitation here is about 511 mm | 20.1 inches per year.

Question the blue dye will that stain anything that it gets on i.e. stone, driveway, harscape, etc? I was just wondering before I started to spray as I have weeds in cracks in the driveway, in some of the stone garden bed and patios and did not want to end up with blue spots where I sprayed. So was just wondering as then I can just avoid those specific areas and just use it in the yard proper.

my yard is probably 85% weeds so the surge most likely would be best for me (based on your recommendation) however the seed i bought already has fertilizer. would you recommend using a different product or is it okay to use the surge first before seeding with what i’ve already purchased?

I sprayed Meso4SC before, using the right concentration and surfactant (Drexel Hum-AC 820 Humectant Surfactant) before, and it didn't do that much in terms of killing clover and crabgrass. I read that Meso4SC is the same as tenacity, so I'm wondering why I didn't get good results? Maybe the surfactant that I used is not the proper one? I'm not sure what to do anymore, as I can't get rid of clover and crabgrass on my lawn. Any ideas?

I have two questions: can it be used on lawns in the southeast? I know some broadleaf herbicides can’t, and I can’t find anything on the Amazon listing that says either way. Second, can it be purchased in a smaller bag? My yard isn’t large and spending $90 on such a big bag seems like a lot to try it out. Is weed and feed product okay to use in earlier season? early-mid march. I'm in the south on 2 acres and I'd say 85% weeds the rest is bermuda. Not sure what the best route is for this time of year to kill everything. I've used tenacity before on smaller property and it worked great, I just don't think it's practical/economical to use on 2 acres of almost all weeds. Any tips? Thanks!!

Yes, fortunately these products will not hurt new seed at all. You could seed the next day, I am planning to overseed on Tuesday myself and will share a video soon after. The only thing these products cant be used on is new grass (sprayed on it) that has started growing for the first 6 weeks. But before that new seed is just fine.

It rained exactly two afternoons here. Not even a lot. Every storm didn’t materialize over my house. The tote has been empty since June.

I'd love to see a video on how to seed an alternative to the monoculture lawn that doesn't need fertilizer, herbicide and frequent maintenance but still looks nice. A meadow like lawn with hardy plants like microclover, perennial Rye Grass, Roman Chamomile, some fescue, English Daisy etc

That's easy, just don't maintain your lawn. Those plants will have no problem coming in and colonizing your yard.

i have used 2 applications of week and feed w/surge and it hasn't killed any weeds... used a heavy application both times. applied 36 hours after mowing and watered 12 hours after application.... grass has gotten greener but so have the weeds and none are dying. pretty expensive product for not getting any results... might have to just stick with the tenacity.
