Minimal parts list:
- Biostar A68N-2100 motherboard
- Parallel port to IDC cable assembly
- TB6600 driver (generic)
- NEMA 17 stepper motor
- Parallel port cable and breakout
- Bench power supply

This was definitely not what I was searching for about LinuxCNC, but I appreciate that it's quite a nice introduction for beginners

Thanks! First man on youtube who put an actual name of this generic driver in his video on LCNC.

thank you thank you thank you - I am an utter idiot with electronics+pc's and needed a slow monkey see monkey do style explanation for this(until I grasp the concept) thereafter I am normally quiet capable to do things myself, it's normally just the beginning of things I fail to grasp, once grasped I am usually fine for the next step

Thank you for the video, I really liked it. There are others on the topic, but I think they are very specific or sometimes they don't say much. With this, I now know what materials I need to start testing LinuxCNC with something connected! Thanks!

The parport tester is included in the standard LinuxCNC install, in the config-picker look under "apps" in "sample configs" Another thing to check if using a DB25 cable is that not all "printer cables" are fully wired. Many have only enough cores inside to drive (some) printers.

Good video. I'm running Linux for a Sherline CNC mill. The X axis only runs one direction regardless of which jog button (+ or -) I click on. Is there a fix for this within Lunux ? Cables, and pins appear to be all correct.

Literally what I satrted from 2 years ago.(Dragons Ahead!-I thought than :)..) I think it is sometimes better to mention why so much is not important and its only example for testing. Great video looking for more ant subscribed ;)

Hi Matt I have been watching your video First Steps with LinuxCNC. I am a complete novice but want to try build a unit. I have located the Biostar A68N-2100 motherboard but I know I will need a power board, hard drive and fans. Would it be possible just to let me know the model numbers you have used in the video. If I use this Motherboard can it be used going forward to build a more complicated CNC? Paul

Sorry for the question, linuxcnc work only with parallel port?
@migueld6851
@migueld6851 Год назад
No, it also works with Ethernet cards like the Mesa ones, but they are expensive and rarely in stock. I'm quite new to this, but I've noticed that Mesa cards haven't been available in stock since 2021. If you're new, like I am, consider starting with testing and experimenting with serial communication."
