Been on a septic my whole life (60+ yrs) use pretty much all the brands and have never had an issue. We get it pumped and inspected every 5 to 10 years no problems.
Unless you're around Dallas area HEB is a great grocery store to shop at. They have great quality foods and things you just can't find anywhere else. Any Texan would agree with this. Glad you're here! ❤ 🤠
We have a septic tank too and have always checked the back to make sure the brand says septic safe. I put up the temporary paper accordian style blinds from Lowe's with the adhesive strips at top (very inexpensive) and you can cut them to fit.Worked well in our new house and house instantly cooled down when we hung them and can't see thru. Still have a few up years later in bedrooms we don't use much. If you have Big Lots close by another good place to look for window curtains.
If you have Ollies that side of TX go there ... if not go to Big Lots, Ross, Marshalls, Bed Bath & Beyond and of course all the SuperTargets! 😁 Tell hubby to go check out Harbor Freight (and you will love it too!)
Moving does have its advantages. It’s the one time you can leave things anywhere and not worry about cleaning up. The excuse, we’ve just moved in, is good all year 😂
Glad you made it safe and sound. Moving is so much work. I wasn't thinking it would be that much.We have had septic our entire live and never have had any issues. Enjoy your new home.
Yay!!! Glad you made it to TX safely. What a great haul! Now the fun begins. I'm so happy for you and your family, such a beautiful home. Wishing you many blessings and happy memories to come. Try to get some rest too!💗
Congratulations on your new home🏡 Val and family! When we moved into our new home we bought paper accordion style shades from one of the big box home improvement stores like Lowes or Home Depot. You stick them up and they stay really well and give you lots of privacy and even look really nice. That way you can take your time picking out curtains and rods. Try to enjoy the process, it's not often someone moves into a new home and gets to pick out all these new lovely things. God-bless and keep cool!
I know things are expensive but I wouldn't have thought it was that much. Enjoy your new home. Take your time it will all come together. Blessings to all.
Finally getting to watch this after being away all weekend, beyond excited for you and cannot wait to follow along as you decorate the new house :) (Is it weird that I'm already excited to see what you'll do for Christmas decor? Lol)
So exciting!!! 😁 I’m curious, I know you decluttered a lot of your everyday home decor, did you do the same for your seasonal and holiday decor or did you keep all of that?
Every season I get rid of a little. donate, and rotate is what I call it. I keep what I love sell or donate what I don't or donate it. But I did not go through my bins except for Christmas since we knew we were moving. I knew this home would need bigger pieces so I did sell ALL our furniture and 80% of my non seasonal decor.
Welcome to Texas. I’m in Waco. Hope you like the heat. Seems like we might be in for it for a while. And the humidity right now is awful. Hope you are settling in and ready to decorate that beautiful home!!!
Yes, Florida has been having Beautiful Weather, but the Dew Point(Humidity) ramping up along with Rain(which we need because it's been so Dry)! 🔥🌡🎇🌋/🌧⚡🌬☔
Congratulations to the family on the move and the new home Girl! We buy Kirkland’s 🧻 and we don’t flush it. We’ve been in our 1st home for 7 years now and we never have had a issue with our septic. Have it serviced every 3-4 years. It all depends how big your tank is like 1000 gallons.
Glad you made it to Texas safely, always fun traveling with a dog who does not like to ride! About the septic, we have had three different skeptics at three different houses and never had a problem with TP. I use HEB soft brand. If you have an HEB grocery store near you you need to check it out. The store brands are awesome, and the meat is excellent. Welcome to Texas looking forward to seeing your house as you decorate.
I have the industrial curtain rod and love it. Prayers on moving in, it can be so fun and so horribly stressful at the same time! Can’t wait to see finished home.
Yah!! How exciting!!.. U got yur keys!!.. I was going to guess $1,000, I was close.. Love all the stuff u picked up.. I’m so excited for u and yur family!.. U are a natural beauty, u look so pretty w/out makeup.. TFS... Take care, have a wonderful weekend, and God bless.. 😉
So glad you got here safe & sound! Let the fun begin! But let me tell you something about TX stores, if you see something you like, get it. I don’t know if their stock is low or just because there are so many people (4 million in Houston where I am). I hope you’re in a smaller locale AND away from hurricane zones! ♥️
Congratulations!! Decorating your new home will be fun🤗 we had our home built a little over a year now, and I loved decorating it! Good luck, and happy home shopping 💕
So glad that you made it to Texas safely! When we moved we probably spent that and more to get everything we needed for our house- but totally worth it! Welcome to your new home! TYFS and have a great day!
U have a lot of things to get used to! Humidity hit us when we moved from Ca! The bugs! BEWARE! We had scorpions n Norco! Even tarantulas n the wide open spaces! There r snakes too! Moved to a new subdivision and built a house! There are copperheads. Rattlesnake! Our 80 lb dog hot bit 5 times! A little dog like yours was about at the vet one time. It’s face swelled so much at almost suffocated! SO ALWAYS LOOK AROUND N THE GARAGE, around plants, etc!!! Be safe! CONGRATULATIONS on the move! It is exciting to b so far away from the familiar, but realize PEOPLE R PEOPLE EVERYWHERE! We ARE ALL THE SAME!!! That’s how u was raised!!
Actually the weather is not too unseasonable right now. This is pretty normal heat and humidity for a Texas summer in June. We’ve actually been blessed to have so much rain in April and May that the temperatures have been unseasonably cool until this week.
If you are in Central Texas, you should really check out H-E-B if you haven’t yet 😊 they have seasonal stuff sometimes too (but not too much since they are mainly a grocery store.) Welcome to Texas!
Welcome to Texas! I need to find your WalMart, mine is a tiny one in a smaaaaal town❤️. I have had a septic tank for 25 years…. Always use Charmin and never had any issue at all!
Everything is hard to come by. Here in FL 3 or 4 weeks wait for any appliance. Its awful... Looks like you did well. I always used dollar tree dishwasher packs until recently. They have been leaving a white film on our dishes. We now use those packs from walmart. They are great.. Congratulations. Beautiful home..
Thanks Staci! Yes when we were here in November all the locals told us to bring our appliances. I guess there is a long waiting list. We want a new fridge but ours will work just fine until we find one.
I think maybe 1500 for it all. I am glad for you in getting your new house. Lot of work ahead but it will be worth it. Stay safe and have a blessed day.
Val, I have always heard regular use of anti-bacterial soaps with a septic systems can mess with the “eco-system” of the septic process. I noticed the dish and hand soaps purchased were anti-bacterial...so you might want to check that out. Septic issues are so poopy! I did a quick Google search and that seemed to confirm what I have heard previously...but maybe check out the specifications suggested by the septic system in your new home. Congratulations on becoming a homeowner!
Oh I am sure you where close to a 1000 bucks. When we moved from Atlanta to San Francisco in 2018 we too had to do that shopping trip. We had a couple of different items like an inflatable bed as our furniture was not coming for a week. Also little things like a can opener and a couple of lamps as our apartment had no lights except on the kitchen. It is amazing how quickly it adds up! So glad you make it to Texas! I am so glad for your new opportunities and so excited for you and your family!!!
It's so true! I did pack one small survival box for the kitchen and the bathroom we brought with us along with some sleeping bags. I could have easily spent more.
Moving to Texas right at the start of summer, yikes at least you'll get acclimated. Hope you are in a less humid area and enjoy your new home and area.
Just an FYI anything antibacterial isn’t good for your septic system, avoiding antibacterial products will extend the life of your system. Also be sure that your cleaning supplies are septic safe also.
FYI: it gets really hot and humid in TX. Also, for Independence Day, most cities ban fireworks within city limits with exception of professional displays.
I’ve lived with septic systems for nearly my entire life...we’ve used Cottonelle ultra and my mother lives with us and her favorite is Ultra Soft Charmin. We have never had any issues with TP.
I'm so excited for you guys. I was thinking about a 1000.00 everything is so expensive. We have a septic system too and I sure didn't know about the toilet paper, thanks for the info. Glad you made it safe. Now the fun begins! Can't wait to watch you decorate. Get some rest, have fun and don't flash the neighbors! Lol
You did really well with your haul. FYI - when my partner and I moved in to our new house we bought Dollar Tree table cloths and just thumb tacked them on the windows for some temporary privacy until we got our window treatments up. Hang in there.
Septic- Are you on aerobic septic? If so, you should not use any antibacterial soap. I learned this this past year when we moved to the country in North Texas and we have an aerobic septic system in our new home. Can't use any antibacterial soap because it will kill the beneficial bacteria that helps the matter to break down in an aerobic septic system. I'm not sure about the leach-field septic systems but I assume it's probably the same. Also we use Kirkland brand tp from Costco as well as flushable wipes and they both break down very well in our septic system.
Welcome to Texas I live 50 miles south of Houston I would of said every bit of 1000.oo always so expensive when you move you have to replace so much that doesn't work in a new home .
It’s hard to guess because I don’t know the price of things in Texas. It doesn’t take much to have it add up:) We are on septic and they have never told us what kind of toilet paper we can use except for we have been told not to use liquid hand soap’s in the bathroom it’s not good for the system. When does your furniture arrive? Can’t wait to see how you set up your new beautiful home:)
Glad you made it safe and sound!! I would have guessed $800....guess I'm a little under....Target will be your new friend!!.... Furniture soon???....♥️🤗
And that is just the beginning amount. Every time you leave the new house and walk back in you will hear the Cha Ching sound. I feel your Coo Coo happy many states away.
LOL it's true! with more distance to travel between places I find my self going out to many places and spending more because I want to get it all when I'm in the area!
I love Ross they always have the cutest things🤟🤟🤟🤩😍🥰 I like everything you got at Walmart to yummy you really got a lot of nice things thank you for sharing
