You might want to add a foot valve on the water supply line so it holds a prime, which you have to do with the hand pump. You know these things whn you grew up without the modern conveniences. we had a big copper kettle in our attic to supply the toilet water and hand sink in the bathroom. Love your new cottage..
love all your videos What I love most is how great parents you both are that goes above and beyond everything. The places u go are epic and love the new cabin Best of luck with it
my favorite thing in the video, is the equal partnership with you and Tori and the strong family bond that all of you have. And it was nice seeing Tori catch the biggest fish!
Wesley sitting up by himself. Wesley playing games with the family. Wesley’s beautiful interaction with Hudson. Displaying that bond between Hudson and himself.Hudson catching his first fish. Hudson helping clean the fish and Hudson carrying logs like a big boy was the best part of this video. I wish all children could experience the good life that your boys are living. 🎩 👒 off to you Jim and Tori for great parenting 🤗
That’s the way we all should live 👍 I do BUT in a camper on my homestead coz electrical fire in the middle of the night two years ago took my house and everything in it including some of my pets 💔😪. Vet told me they didn’t suffer, it’d be like they just fell asleep. BS!! I couldn’t get out, and my dog wouldn’t jump with me. My son pulled us out the window. I KNOW what trying to breathe in all that smoke is like - my furbabies were fighting for air and I KNOW it. ANYWAY , I was gonna only stay summers and plant my gardens BUT ♥️🤗😊 I’m STILL here. Little tiny camper set back in the woods beside a burned house. I’m working at it spring and fall. Summers too hot and winters too cold but they want $15000 to knock down what’s left. 😯😳 yep, I’ll just write ya a check sir LOL. Talk about kick ya when you’re down. The solitude and stillness is THE BEST. I’d love a pumpkin like they have though.
Jim and Tory, this video makes us smile so much. Fifty years ago we bought a rustic log cabin on 40 acres of western upper peninsula wild land. It was a spur of the moment decision. We had snowshoed through five feet of snow to look at the camp. My wife was pregnant with our first child at the time but didn’t know it. We have many fond memories of our times there. Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy your camp as your kids grow.
"Whatcha doing, Dad?" over and over again from Huddy is one of my favorites. I was especially impressed when he picked up one end of the the canoe to bring it ashore. Some useful skills there. Loved Tori's grin when she was outfishing you! I thought this cabin would just be another set of chores for your busy family, but absolutely loved seeing all of you able to relax and enjoy your time there.
Well I would say my favorite part was just seeing the smile on everyone's faces and having a good time. The kids are getting so big and huddy is so helpful. He's such a little gentleman. I can tell there will be many more fun times had and lots more memories made. So very happy for you all. And Tori excellent job on the fishing.
Well thanks very much for that and for taking the time to tune in too! Tori crushed it on the fishing! I know there will indeed be many more times. I can’t wait for them.
Huddy 👏🏿 is the Man... so Adventrous, i can see him on "ALONE" in 20 yrs. When he said thats dirty & threw the bucket out, oh my 🤣🤣🤣 & caught his 1st Fish. Oh oh "go back to new house" He Stole the Show.. Big Boy Wes is Chilling w his Beautiful Hair. Extraordinary Children. Just ❤❤❤ watching the kids. TORI you cool, Jim you alright. Great Family.
When our son was six months old, we traveled the five hours to the camp in our Bronco. He was in a card board box between our seats. During that trip we decided to return to camp via a rude trail from the nearest town which was twenty miles away. It was June, black fly season. The trail was through swamp. Five miles in we encountered a beaver flooding. It was a hundred yards to the other side. I locked in the 4WD and crept forward. The water was above the floor boards. Somehow we climbed out of the flooding with the water flushing from the vehicle. Had we not, it would have been a bug bitten several mile hike to the camp. Good memories. Carry on.
Jim! This video was a complete gem from start to finish. What a family treasure and just imagine the memories that await. You both earned it!! Huge congrats on the new property and can't wait to see more cabin content. WELL DONE!!!
I throughly enjoyed this video. Hudson is so delightful he's a sponge and loves impressing you both. Wes is a lovely person. He's really enjoying the interaction with you all. I'm so glad he has a loving family. ❤
I’m so happy for your family that you have this wonderful little camp in the bush to enjoy with your family for years to come. Praise God. May you always be blessed. 🙏
I watch and love all of your videos, but there is something so special about this one. Both of the children look so happy to be there. Thank you for sharing your family adventures and memories with us.
@JimBairdAdventurer This was another awesome video to watch from start to finish!!! Little Huddy is such a character especially when he said, "You have to cook it first." Always appreciative of your content. God bless to you family.
so happy for you guys with this new cabin!!! wanted to share WESLEY'S SMILE LIGHTS UP THE WHOLE WORLD. He is such a delight and lil honey keeps me laughing...you guys got your hands full....lil honey is such an old soul. thank you for sharing your kids with us!! and Jim - best thing you did was have the kids & tori included in your trips. you both are such excellent parents. THANK YOU!!!!
Hudson is honestly so smart and more advanced than almost all kids I have seen his age. It’s a testament to the way u guys live. Clearly is better for a kids development than the typical modern day life. Someone needs to do an in depth study on your family and the benefits long term for kids. Contact a top notch university to look into that.
Thanks very much, it’s true that people don’t believe he’s only 2. He is learning more all the time too! I do think that all this stuff helps and that he is going to be capable.
Couple of recommendations. Get you 3 or 4 #40lb propane tanks to replace that big one. Carrying that thing around will get old quick. Another idea is set up a couple of rain barrels fed by a gutter from the roof. Then you can just stick a short piece of pipe from your hand pump right to the barrels. Easier than trying to prime 30 feet of pipe. Lastly, bring one of your small portable electric generators w/ solar panels and leave it there. Then string LED lights in the cabin. Propane lights are miserable to use when it's hot.
My fave videos are you and your family. Seeing Huddy and Wesley smile makes my day! Epic cottage adventures ahead! Waterfall so cool! YYYYEEEAAAAHHH!!!!
Hey folks thanks for bringing us to the cabin it's a beautiful place love the waterfall I am so happy for you all , Huddy is really chatting up a storm now and wasn't he cute with his first fish. awww , Awesome to see Wes so happy there ,& very epic that he can enjoy going into the lake as well both kiddies are growing so very fast. I look forward to many more adventures at your cabin. thanks folks.
Well, what a haven you have bought into, it is like a resort is beginning, nothing like family time, this brings back childhood memories, on land and sea,,, wow,,, abolutely beautiful,, great fishing both of you and Huddy you did it,,, fish#1,, great job yahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh,,,, and Wesley chilling in the water and then taking on a game with the family,,, love it stay safe
Hey Jim, next time you cook corn on the bbque try it with the husks on, just soak them in water first that prevent them from catching fire, 10-15 minutes they are usually done, time may vary. They steam in the husk, lots of flavour. Your way is good too cheers!
Congratulations on your cabin! Your youngest is gonna be just like you, i bet. He's such a little helper already and doesn't seem to be afraid to try anything.
Beautiful place Guys. Hey Jim you need a foot valve to hold the water in the pipe. Then fill the pipe full from the kitchen sink. Watch that guy who sunk a well by hand, Mr. Dave Whipple. He's like Red Green. You know the saying 😅...
I love watching your videos…. Beautiful family! ❤️Love being able to see the boys learning new things. It’s fun to hear Huddy talk and help with the chores🥰
Thanks a lot and I need a foot valve but I think that’s the same as a back flow preventer. Couldn’t find one there so it’s on the list plus the pup leather flap needs to be swapped out.
@@JimBairdAdventurer yes sir, foot valve is another better name. Yeah, the seal is dry I bet!!! Good luck to your family putting loving touch on the Cabin!!
I had seen it before, but I am watching it again, the cabin and the boat are wonderful. Greetings to Tori and the children, Jim. Thanks for your videos and Ted's 👍🛶❤️🛥️
You're living the Canadian dream guys! Enjoy making thise summer memories. You both work so hard and you deserve it! Hope you had an awesome Canada Day!

You guys have a beautiful spot there, and your own private beach!!! Heaven on earth!!!! Could not believe how much your boys have grown. Enjoyment here for years to come. I know u will find lots of work to do around the cabin and the grounds, just pick away it, don't let it interfere with your fishing or swimming. :) Will watch for the next one. From Nova Scotia
Lovely video Jim, family times like this are real treasure, I thought for a moment you were going to keep playing the music while cooking the fish but you cut to the sizzle in the pan just at the right time😂 😂😂😂😂😅
Wow ! you can just see the fun in everyone’s eyes! This is a great spot to have the kids and enjoy time together. Thanks for taking us along! ClaudiaSJI
Great video, Jim ,Tory can't thank you both enough for bringing us along on your family's outing. Wesley has grown so much and Huddy pretty strong. Jim that hat you had on is perfect for you. I got a chuckle out of it I had a hat like that and wore it all summer long for years. They just don't make um like they used to. Small mouth bass are tastier than large mouths for sure. Definitely looking forward to more of your excursion into the wilderness of Canada.
Oh man. Beautiful! I would love to come out just to hang with your kids! Wesley is leaps and bounds. And the other one is… well outta this world lol. I feel proud for you guys!
Congrats guys. I was looking forward to the first video at the new cabin. I have property on Bright Lake and can't wait to spend more time with the family there. Propane is a good option since it is already set up and working but look into dc fridge and lighting for the future with solar. Looking forward to future videos at the cabin.
Great episode. The beginning of many happy family memories for you all. Thanks for sharing the joy. Reminded me of our family off grid cabin in Muskoka. We also had a propane fridge that I remember my Dad often had to tinker with at the beginning of the season. Usually involved removing the burner and cleaning out any built up soot. The pump as I recal had a foot valve on it which allowed the water to flow up the pipe and not backwards thus losing the prime. Also acted as a screen for unwanted particles. Have fun figuring it all out.
This might have already been suggested, but did you prime the pump? You have to pour water into it and pump for quite a lot as the water has a long way to be sucked up.😘
Jim, I’ve pumped water from the lake my entire life, you need a check valve on the end of your line , I’d also recommend a cage and bag filter at that end to keep sediment, bugs and fish out of the line and your check valve. You’ll need to pour enough water in the pump to fill that line which can be a chore as the line wants to float. You sure have a good helper there with Hudson!
