When you want to go further on the path of our 1.83m (6ft.+) tall Dutch Valkyrie Queen Floor Jansen, here is some background information on the best and most versitale female singer of our time. Floor joined the band 'After Forever' in 1997 at the age of 16. Here are some of my favourites: ‘Energize me’; Monolith of Doubt’ and Dreamflight’. Floor attended the then new Rock Academy in 1999 and graduated in 2003. She also studied 2 years at the Conservatory (1 year Music Theatre and 1 year Opera). 'After Forever' disbanded in 2009 and Floor started her own band 'Revamp' from scratch. Here she experimented with different vocal styles within one song from full operatic to death growls in seconds. Here are some examples: ‘Misery’s no Crime’, ‘Wild card’ and ‘Disdain’. Besides managing a band on her own she also did a lot of vocal coaching and as she is a perfectionist, she wants to do everything at 100%+. Eventually she had to pay the price and got a burnout. She had just recovered when end of september 2012 the call came from Nightwish to fill in for the remainder of the North American Tour at first as their second singer Annette got ill. Floor had just 48 hours to learn the whole setlist. There is a documentary made of this world tour: ‘Please learn the setlist in 48 hours’ Floor joined Nightwish after the iconic Wacken concert in 2013 as permanent member of the band. Floor continued to perform with 'Revamp’ also, but it was clear that she could not combine the two for much longer, so 'Revamp' disbanded in 2016. Floor did a side project called 'Northward' where she dived into the Hard Rock scene. The song 'While Love Died is a must see. Her stunning performances on the Dutch TV show 'Beste Zangers 2019' gave her at last some more recognition in her home country where she was relatively unknown until then. There are numerous guest appearances with other bands to find on RU-vid. To see how to get a crowd of metalheads silenced and in awe watch her featuring with the band 'Epica' and the song 'Stabat Mater Dolorosa’ and to see her in full opera mode, watch her rendition of 'O Mio Babbino Caro' from Puccini. As live concerts were cancelled and home isolation due to the Covid situation, Floor discovered RU-vid in these years. Mindblowing covers, chats with her idols and other singers, vocal masterclasses, personal insights and so much more. She even made a video reacting to herself singing Ghost Love Score at Wacken. Floor Jansen is one of the best voices in music today. There is literally nothing that she can't do. I would suggest that you take a look at the band Nightwish, of which she is the lead singer. The song Ghost Love Score, from the Wacken 2013 concert is an excellent starting point. You will get a good idea of just how versatile she is.
She's not that tall. Only somewhere between 6 ft. and 8,5 ft. Depends on who you aks. 😂 In reality she's 6 ft. tall without heels. Beste Zangers is a Dutch TV show. Which roughly translates to Best (or dear) Singers. Nightwish just released an album on Sep 20th named: Yesterwynde. If you're more too fond of metal I can recommend the song: Lanternlight. Which is a ballad, and the closer of the album. But mostly the song Ghost Love Score (live from Wacken 2013) is recommended. But it all depends on your musical taste. Personally I think you would like songs like: How's the Heart or My Walden from them.

The Netherlands is not in Scandinavia. It is standard, run-of-the-mill Western Europe. Beste Zangers is Dutch music show featuring Dutch artists. She lives in Sweden, which is a Scandinavian country. She is lead singer for Finnish symphonic metal band, Nightwish. Finland is not a Scandinavian country, though it is Nordic.
Married to the drummer for the Swedish band Sabaton, Hannes Van Dahl. She has two daughters, Freja: Born on March 15, 2017 and Lucy: Born on October 20, 2023. Floor Jansen .. the J is pronounced as a Y .. so .. "Yansen" (similar to the way that Germans pronounce "Ja" as "Ya". She stands 183cm in bare feet .. 6'1" in American.

@@k17reactions Scandinavia is defined in different ways. In the narrow sense, it is only Norway and Sweden, because only these two are on the Scandinavian peninsula. But along with Denmark, they are the heartland of the Vikings, which is why they are also included. You can also include Iceland (because it was settled by the Vikings) and Finland (because it belonged to Sweden in the Middle Ages and Swedish is an official language alongside Finnish). The Finns see themselves as Scandinavians because they fit in culturally with these countries.

The concept of this Dutch show "Beste Zangers" - which could be either translated as "Best Singers" or "Dear Singers" - is that a group of professional Dutch singers come and stay together in a resort. They record episodes with one of them in the spotlight, talking about their life and career, while the other singers either sing one of their own songs back to them, or a song that has special meaning to the singer in the spotlight. When Floor Jansen was included, she was pretty much an unknown to the general public as her style of music didn't get much airplay and was very much a niche style with a small but loyal following. Her performances on the show - ranging from Operatic, through (pop)ballads, Dutch-language folk, and musical theatre (Phantom of the Opera) blew the audience as well as the other singers away and finally made her a household name in her home country.

Since this show is your point of entry, lets stick with it for a moment and at the same time get a bit closer to her regular genre, which is Symphonic Metal, a hybrid music genre in between classic/opera and metal. Will that even work? Yes it wil!!! This show brings singers from different genres together, singers that might otherwise never meet. Every episode one of them is in the hot-seat and the others sing a song to that is of special significance to the person in the hot-seat. The old guy is Henk. He has played The Phantom in The Phantom of the Opera musical for decades. At this time Henk does not know yet, Floor has been a fan of him since she went to see him when she was only 13. At this show Floor sang two songs in relation to Henk: His mother used to sing the German song "Vilja Lied" from a German opera to his dad when he as a little boy. Floor is 6' 1/4 " & typically wears a 3 to 4 in. heel. My I suggest checking out her other performances from this show. There are 6 or 7 total , she's sings in 4 languages on the show, English, Dutch , Spanish & German. Beste Zangers is Dutch for best singers.

'Beste zangers' can be translated as "The best singers' or 'Dear singers'. Because it isn't a competition i would go for the latter. Each singer sings songs of the others.
Hey Jimmy. I tried to get a sense as to your musical taste, and like mine it encompasses quite an eclectic array of artists - or at least ones that are being suggested to you. I picked Shallow because I thought it was an excellent example of Floors control over instrument, where she can reign it back and seamlessly transition into a controlled belt. I also loved her take on the song even though it was set up to be a duet. She does do a couple of duets on that show, the one most viewed was with the older gentleman, Henk Poort, with Phantom of the Opera, a part he sang many times in the production. Beste' Zangers, Dutch for Best Singers. Floor is 6'1". She is also the featured singer of the Symphonic metal band Nighwish (think movie score music in style). One particular performance of theirs happens to be the most reacted to video on YTube. You will get recommendations/suggestions from her fans who come visit you to check it out. I don't know why the "fair use"copyright text is displayed. But Floor Jansen (pronounce Yansen) is a European artist. This video is from Europe, so US Copyright laws do not apply. Beste Zangers means Best of Dear Singers, both translations are correct.
I have a normal process I follow when I do my video editing & the "fair use" is part of that. I can tell you that the last thing that happens when uploading a video to RU-vid is a copyright check & this song shows to have a copyright. I know that songs from a number of European & Filipino artists have US copyrights. I assume that's to prevent somebody from the US from using their music for personal gain. I'm just speculating on that. Also, thank you for the correction to the way I pronounced her last name. I checked the pronunciation after I did the reaction instead of doing it before. That was stupid on my part. Thank you.
"She looks tall" She's 6ft and a bit. A normal length for Dutch people. Floor did The Rock Academy and 2 years conservatory after (1 yr belcanto and 1 yr musical theater). She started singing with 'After Forever' at 16 yrs old, followed by ReVamp and Northward and worked as a voice coach for a few years. Took over the lead singer position with the Finnish band Nightwish in 2012. She's married to the drummer of the Swedish band Sabaton and has 2 children with him. They live in Sweden. She has a solo career next to Nightwish and also regularly works with other bands, like Ayreon, Epica, Evergrey and Sabaton Her range is C3-F6, 3.5 Octaves.
@@k17reactions Dutch men are 6ft and a bit and women 5'6 on average, but that includes the many short immigrant's children who drag the average down. In reality most native people are taller than the country's average. I'm 61 yrs old and a bit over 6ft and I'm not especially tall for my generation. Young native men are much taller than I am. I'd say between 6'2 and 6'6, but over 6'6 is no exception and no one looks twice at guys of 7ft+. For native women you can take 4" off. On the other hand we have a lot of immigrants and their kids that struggle to reach 5'6 (men).

Good one take a look at the Wacken 2013 NigtWish show where/when she was introduced as the new singer, any song the whole show was/is excellent. Ghost Love Score, Story Time, Ghost River, Song Of Myself etc. That performance of Shallow was from Beste Zangers 2019 Dutch tv series which is also worth watching to see more of her.

I actually do know where the Netherlands is (I'm a geography nerd), but what I didn't know and made myself look stupid about is not knowing which countries were considered Scandinavian and Nordic. I assumed but was incorrect & made myself look ignorant in the process. I also know that Holland is Dutch but forget that Holland is the unofficial name for the Netherlands. Sometimes, making myself look ignorant is a good learning strategy. People will correct me very quick. I usually will not make the same mistake twice. So which countries are considered Scandinavian & which are Nordic? Thanks again!!!
