He was great because first of all he was able to swing ball both side with same action and same speed, secondly he had full control over the ball, he can bowl exactly where he want to bowl.thirdly he not only just bowls his bowling was a piece of art, he use to bowl with proper planning and proper setup, and a different plan for each batsman. just like he explained about Kumar Sangakara dismissal, he bowled out swingers for 40 minutes and very last ball swung inside, batsman was already thinking that it will go outside so he left it and hence got out.
He is so underated. What an exceptional bowler he was but unfortunately he had a short lived career with so many wrong decisions. he would've been the best of the bestest 💔
6:23 He's describing how he set up that Batsman. Basically manipulated him to fall for his trap. What he said there was that for about 30 minutes before lunch he Bowled the Balls that were only moving away from the Batsman (Out Swings). But the last Ball just before lunch he Bowled the Ball that moved inwards (In Swing), the Batsman now just wasn't expecting that & thought this too will be an Out Swing so he decided to simply leave it since it'll be lunch right after he didn't wanted to take any risk of playing a shot & getting Out. But the Ball was an In Swing, for the Batsman it unexpectedly came in & hit the Stumps knocking off the Bails Ìi̊Í
He was probably the best bowler Pakistan have ever found after Wasim Akram and even also cricket have ever found 🔥 Unfortunately he got involved in some fixing issues and more broken to see no one not even our board tried to support him and made him comeback in the team like Amir 🥺 if he was in the team today I strongly believe Pakistan would have been the top team in all formats
all the greatest batsmen on the planet and all the bowlers agree to this that he was truly a magician with the ball no could understand his way of bowling
Traditionaly a bowler either swings the ball in the air or move it after hitting the pitch. Asif did both and sometime in same delivery, thats why he was magician.
to swing the ball like him is a matter of skill, craftsmanship, he could bowl faster but slowed down a bit and you saw the result. He worked on his action.
He was the only one in cricket history who can do out-swing and in-swing as a fast bowler . World has not created a nother like him so far. He was a real artist.
The background voice in the first few secs was of Shoaib Akhtar the fastest bowler on earth who described Asif as an artist and an ordinary bowler to himself as compared to asif. he was truly a magician.
when they were found in spot fixing the Cricket board wanted to make an example out of them so other new cricketers never go that path...its sad but I think they did the right thing.
Yes he did blunder with his career and life but no doubt about his ability . He was from other planet in the bowling point of view. We can not compare any bowler with his bowling technique.
He was considered as a magician as he finds out the batsman’s weakness from his bat & his pad area & there he switch the bowl accordingly & let the magic happens! Currently he is bowling coach in USA. He reads the psychology of batsmen & trim it accordingly & then generate a weak point or weaker decision & then use it against the batsmen & got his wicket! Also strangely ICC convicted him in a bookies case where 3 Pakistani cricketers were sentenced of ban for 10,7&5 years but no other was convicted. No one knows who actually was asking them to do the spot fixing! Those cricketing gems Salman Butt, M Asif & M Amir were convicted but the illegal racket of bookies was never uncovered till today!😢😢😢 System safeguards the powerful ones only!
If he was not involved in these controversies he would be bigger than great wasim akram in bowling he even make god of cricket sachin tendulkar kneel infront of him
A little known fact, when he got banned because of spot fixing, he was the #1 bowler in test matches simply put he got retired on the absolute peak of the world
To put this into perspective, there were still bowlers rivaling him for that spot for the likes of Brett lee, James Anderson, dale Steyn, Muhammad Amir, Umar Gul, Mitchell Johnson, Ntini, Malinga, Morne Morkel and some other extraordinary bowlers. And this is just the fast bowlers lineup he was competing against, now add the spinners.
A true legend by talent and skill but wasted himself for money. A shame for cricket, shame for the country and countrymen. But example was set for others and made other cricketers careful.
Hahaha So asif was a shame?😂😂Plzz research bro! It was a Plot to get him out!! He was Clearly a danger for everyone!!!!He is still the pride!!!Dont you dare to Say anything to him.
@@hamzachuzi7933 Regardless, Asif, Salman and Amir had their intentions to involve in such illegal activities. So intention matters and made it a shameful act..
I am from Pakistan. Asif was great bowler. well during England tour , He told us when he went to sleep he think one wicket is must of (Peterson) but what other wickets i have to take . He was 200 percent pretty sure about peterson wicket.
Asif was and always will be regarded as the phenom of his generation, we (Pakistanis) were angry with him and Amir for throwing a huge chunk of their career down the drain because these 2 were the unplaybles of their time
Asif is the classic example of an "Undisciplined Artist". Naturally gifted but lacked discipline to make him truly great Swing bowling is all about angles. So if you watch any good swing bowler you would see they deceive batsman on the natural angle. The best explanation is his Sangakara wicket at 6:30, right handed bowling to a left handed batsmen naturally would go away based on the angle they bowls to them (a straight line in most cases), but once the batsmen was convinced that this is how it will always go he was able to bring the last bowl in and the batmen had already made up his mind that this will not happen and got out. This is why he was considered a magician, he smart enough to play with their minds this way. The problem was he was too smart for himself, all these drug and fixing controversies were like it seemed like he just wanted to have too much fun too quickly, I only wish he had a mentor or some guide who had guided him appropriately.
Can't play Indian leg spinners like kuldeep and bishnoi. He was not out in 2021 wc because the ball wasn't turning and there were no leg spinners and swing for Indian pacers. We saw what he can do in Australia T20 wc and asiacup 😂 solid technique itseems, home country highway bully tuk tuk Zimbabar.
@@malikahmad64 he wasn't in his prime. He was out mostly trying to be over aggressive and hitting it straight to the fielder even though he middled it. But in babar's case it's mostly lbw and exceptionally well bowled decieving deliveries
he wasn't on no steroids, look how skinny he was. the cricket authorities (English and Aussie) worked hard to tarnish exceptional players that teared through their teams. all the players took recreational drugs. if they don't try to shaft them for an illegal action, they set them up for spot fixing or ball tampering. Waqar, wasim, shoaib, murilitheran, ajmal, saqlain, asif, amir, the list is endless and they're mostly Pakistani.
