Keelhauling is a particularly gruesome form of execution. You're pulled (hauled) under the length of the ship's hull (the keel) and the barnicles rip your skin off as you drown☠️
The point of the rope is to fish him out behind the ship again and start on square one. So you get cut and you drown then you get fished out and thrown in front of the ship again so the salty water can get into your fresh wounds. Not quite the happy times.

Keelhaul is when you bind someone to a massive rope and haul them, down through the water, around the ship. Often they'd break their neck on the keel and die but if they didn't it's torture worse than waterboarding and *then* they'd force you to walk the plank with a bottle of Rom and a pistol with one shot. When it comes to pirate metal i REALLY prefer Storm Seeker. Alestorm is a lot more of a party band IMO. Highly recommend Storm Seeker - look for either "The Longing" or "Row Row Row".
