Phish is really a prog rock band disguised a jam band (especially with their older stuff). They were hugely influenced by Zappa, Yes as well as Talking Heads, Bowie, Velvet Underground, etc.
Super fun song. Simple and great. The gospel/blues riffing is just enjoyable all around. Phish is fantastic. They can play loads of different genres, all within one single show. So, it can be a little divisive...
Glad you enjoyed Julius. Just as a side: A lot of their albums, such as Hoist, are meant to be heard from start to finish. And of course, seeing the band live will blow you away. Hoist, Rift and Billy Breathes are three of Phish's greatest albums IMO but there is sooooo much to listen to. If you like what you heard here, I would recommend just taking a break and listening to this album in it's full length. You seem to appreciate all types of music, so I can guarantee it will not disappoint. Check out some of their live performances on RU-vid as well!
The album "Rift" is one of the tightest, mindblowingest albums ever. People don't give them enough credit for their studio stuff. I recommend "It's Ice"
@@AqueousMantra that is by far my favorite Phish album. It plays out like a dreamscape…a night of dreaming. I was lucky enough to start seeing them around Picture of Nectar/Rift era. They were smoking back then.
The song features backing vocals by Rose Stone, Jean McClain and the Rickey Grundy Chorale and horn instruments by the Tower of Power Horn Section. Go to a show and experience the bliss for yourself! It cannot be described.
This song is all about Julius Caesar. The Aquitani were a tribe in the Pyrenees. And Caesar was involved. Here's the link en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aquitani
Do you want to be my new best friend? You are jammin' to my favorite band. They have a very dynamic selection of music/genres. Can you play bluegrass and then funk into some classical? It's ok if not...lol. these guys are fun. This request may not be a good reaction video, but look for Split Open and Melt. I love this one. Very much a Frank Zappa jam. Thanks for checking out, Phish, brother!
2021 to 2024 has been some of the best music to come out of this band. They are firing on all cylinders. Jams have never been more explorative, new songs are great. You're missing a lot and this is coming from someone who went to 35+ shows before 1996...
