Aahaha, I love this song and I was happy to see your reaction! Another Miike Snow song with a similar vibe, and the same dancers/ actors in the music video, that you should check out (for yourself, at the very least) is Pull My Trigger. They're fun videos.

The maniac doesn't want to kill his good counterpart, because without him, he would have nobody to compete with. He enjoys being in battle with Bond, instead of just winning. Like the joker in "The Dark Knight" who doesn't want to kill Batman, because Batman "completes" the joker and without him he would have nothing meaningful to do.

As you spoke more about the ghengis khan and possesove relationship...it finally clicked how this could be a song from the wifes perspective? Like 'dont know where u go at night' because idk if he would really tell his wife his real job or what he does so keeping it secret from her but just going 'out' and is 'back' now and now that hes fallen in love with another she cant take it.

my ideal bf/gf would have none of my interests so we can spend a lot of time apart. used to think i'd love having someone with my interests, or somebody clingy, but it's very tiring having to share everything. maybe it isn't for some people, but man, i don't even want to see my best friend every day
