I don’t think Philippines or any Asim country can replicate the taste of American food due to the ingredients. Glad to see you guys collaborating. When I come back home I would love to visit Subic ane Vigan.
Yup, very true! It's hard to replicate it exactly but they've come a long ways and some places are very close. Oooh, yes, Vigan is one place I definitely want to check out. All the best and I hope you get a chance to come back and visit soon. Cheers! 🍻
Hey there, Joseph! So good to run into you today and thank you for taking out the time to chat with us All the best and hope to see you around town again!
My husband and I usually stayed there when he was still in active duty. Never been back eversince. Looks like very different now unlike before. It used to be US Naval Base. Would love to go back there and shop. Enjoy and be safe.
Thanks for sharing! Yeah, I'm sure it's changed a lot since it was active, but they're actually planning on reopening the base soon. Will be very interesting to track future progress and development here at Subic. There's so much potential and beautiful nature all around.
it was the americans which developed nearly a century ago after they defeated both the spanish and filipino defenders.-U.S. Naval Base Subic Bay In 1900, the General Board of the United States Navy made a thorough study of the naval base building program and decided that the American fleet in the Philippines could be easily bottled up in either the Manila or Subic bays. They instead recommended Guimaras Island, south of Manila, as the most suitable site for the main American naval base in the Philippines. Admiral of the Navy George Dewey and Admiral George C. Remey, Commander of the Asiatic Fleet, disagreed. They thought Subic Bay held the greatest potential. The Navy then called for another study with Remey as the senior member. This board then decided that Subic Bay was the most suitable and practicable place to build a naval base. A board of officers under Rear Admiral Henry C. Taylor was then appointed to develop a plan for the naval station. Extensive plans for fortifications, dockyards, drydocks, workshops, a hospital, a railroad linking Olongapo with Manila and storage facilities for 20,000 tons[vague] (18,000 metric tons) of coal were drawn up and submitted to the Congress. The board requested an appropriation of $1 million ($27040000 in 2022 dollars) to begin building the naval station. President Theodore Roosevelt, a strong supporter of the establishment of a naval station at Subic Bay, issued an Executive Order establishing the Subic Bay Naval Reservation.
There is an area in Subic where i would like to travel. I saw it on a yt video by a retired GI. It was quaint and eerie with nice big homes ,but with no people walking around. There is a resort there called White Rock. Stayed for few days in the early80s before you were even born. Still has photos of them.subic is one of the cities i would love to retire. However, many foreign expats are more attracted with Dumaguete City and wants to be near with them.
Ohhh interesting, we didn't get a chance to check out White Rock this time around but went to Kamana instead, which is quite nice too and away from people. So far, I'm loving Subic! 🥰
Subic was once a US Military Naval Base ( until the US military got kicked out due to abuses and not paying enough for the rent ) especially during the Vietn War, so you being a Vietnamese-American in the Philippines and in Subic, it's like youre going back to the past haha 😂👌 Also, it seems the US Military is coming back under the new Marcos Administration with EDCA or Enhanced Defense Cooperation Agreement. Mostly as a deterrence against china in the event Marcos diplomatic efforts with china fail.
Love your vlog with Jenny .You guys are I good pair & complement each other. Is she your girlfriend or in a relationship? She is a decent & educated Filipina girl. You are blessed & lucky guy to find her. Stay safe & keep the good work.💕EMY from Florida
