The real symbolism of the confederate flag is having a rebellious nature against the government. It existed before the civil war to some level of notoriety but today people just see it as not wanting to be told they couldn't own other people, but that's not why people hold on to the concept of it. They hold on the concept of not being governed by rich people they don't know. I'm not someone who cares much about the flag. Born and raised in NY, but I've had friends who do relate to it and they are the FURTHEST thing from racist.

Actually it’s not about racism. Got to understand that the flag was flown by the south for many reasons and we don’t wear or fly that flag in being rebellious. Civil war was north and south being against ideas. North had their flags and south had theirs. To tell each other apart flags are flown so north wouldn’t attack their own and south wouldn’t attack theirs. Rebel flag is a southern flag and got to remember rebels didn’t all die after the war, they just went home and the flag was for years as a remembrance of those who died. Every flag all over the world to some represents honor for country and loved ones and people who gets blindsided by hate will make false claims and false rumors. To me it’s a remembrance of Americans who died over ignorance because all this land no matter what people say or do became land of free men and women. Free from tyranny, overruled by kings and queens and dictators trying to gain power over the weak, freedom of speech and deciding what’s best for ourselves and our loved ones. Hate will stay and spread if you and others allow it. Racism will stay and spread if we all allow it. A house divided will not stand and words only hurt those who allow them to. We should be united but yet we can’t break from division which seems like our government and schools are preaching. We are united if we if only we help and work together.

@@briandailey9464 I agree with most of that. I believe in American ideals and if you want to fly your flag proudly, I support you for it.

I am one of those, BORN and RAISED in the SOUTH and WE were taught AT HOME that it was being a REBEL against the TYRANT GOV and that was in the 70's & 80's.. BUT people NOW DAYS speak on what they have been TAUGHT by the COORUPT GOV INSTITUTION called EDUCATION SYSTEM and NEVER DO THEIR OWN homework/RESEARCH...

Much respect from Philadelphia for listening to ACAL and the messaging with an open mind. I’m a firm believer as someone who grew up extremely low income that it’s not about black vs white. It’s about poor vs elites / government vs the people. And we the people need to unify. The government is terrified that the largest armed society in the world could actually come tougher and unify against them. That’s why they work so hard to keep us divided, I promise. And if you see someone flying a confederate flag, it’s symbolic of anti federal government today, not anti black people or culture.

I'm British who enjoys learning history, I see the Confederate flag as the flag of the secessionists, and has been adopted by those who want to see themselves as Rebels. As the lyrics go in The Dukes Of Hazard while they're driving the General Lee, 'some day the mountain might catch us but the law never will.'

Great discussion. As an old white guy born in Calif i never really grew up around black people so a lot of my impressions was from what was shown on the TV news and threw music. It really wasn't until i started following people reacting to Tom MacDonald's music that i realized that my perceptions were warped and that we have so much more in common. Thank you!
@yolandatorres4370
@yolandatorres4370 5 месяцев назад
Wow, love your comment. Not too many people now-a-days are willing to be open minded and then go one step further like you did and say you now realize your perception of black people was wrong. Honestly no one can blame you for having that perception to begin with because as you stated; between the TV, news and music that's what you knew. NOW, lets take it even one step further and flip it the other way. A lot of black people also had their perceptions warped about white people by what they grew up watching and hearing. Plus of course the stories from past generations of family that experienced slavery and/or segregation. I am so grateful for artists like Adam, Tom, Upchurch and others that are now using music to unite people instead of cause more division. I myself am Hispanic and I am embarrassed to say but Hispanics are some of the most racist people I have ever seen. So unfortunately I feel we still have such a long way to go to end racism.

I always felt he's just saying that yes, there are the stereotypes of each races, but that's not the whole of each, and its used to pin us against eachother.

There’s a Ken Burns documentary on the Civil War, that’s interesting and touches on some of your thoughts and the imagery. One the union had caught a confederate soldier. Poor, didn’t have slaves, no use for a constitution, asked why he was fighting, he said because your down here. $300 got you out of the union draft, owning 20 slaves got you out of the confederate draft. Rich man’s war, poor man’s fight, on both sides. Going through Pennsylvania, ultimately to Gettysburg. The southern army had stopped and local residents had come and asked a slave that was a confederate orderly what he thought about the countryside, rolling farm land and such. His answer was that it is beautiful country, but it doesn’t stand up to home in my eyes. It’s a really well done, and interesting documentary. Anyway good video, difference’s it perspectives will never leave you with less to think about.

The incest stereotype is actually a real thing in a lot of cultures especially on island, middle east and rural white area in utah. Probably Appalachians down south but i personally don’t know about that.

BLM is a tough and delicate subject to cover. On one hand, I want to believe what they stand for. On the other hand, those donations they received, the message against nuclear families ...they have several stances that I do not agree with and I haven't seen them do anything to help the violence in inner cities. There's so much more I'd like to say but a comment subject is too small to cover it.

3:12 I would suggest you react to Lil Jon & The East Side Boyz - Bia' Bia' (feat Ludacris & Too Short) (Official Music Video) As they repped the Rebel Flag. Unfortunately the left has rewritten history quite a bit. JS

Or what you know what it means to the true south. Not what a movie or what the media tells you. That flag means God, flag country and the first13. Its all about god

It was a great reaction, personally I think you may want to learn just a hair more about Red Necks and the Rebel (confederate) flag. It’s not common at all for red necks to have sex with family, well other than husband and wife. 🤣🤣🤣

@bybshenanigans they did during pride month biden had the pride flag on center mass raised above the American flag when I seen that it made me so angry because my grandfather defended that flag for 35 years that he was active in the military he retired srgt major and was even called up to join desert storm at the age of 73 18 years after he retired but he declined the offer he put old glory out everyday and lowered it every evening folded it up and took it in never letting it touch the ground and taught me the importance of such now we don't say the pledge of alligence and teachers have replaced it with the flag of homosexuality a flag I don't understand why it exists anyway why did we give a whole month to celebrate who they screw and there's nothing brave about who you choose to love nobody cares if they want to show bravery they should actually put their lives in danger like go March for your rights in all the Muslim countries where they put gays to death without a trial and to teach children gay sexual positions before they are even 10 is disgusting the only time in a child's life to even think about this would be 7th grade in sex education when they learn about puberty like we all have and the agenda to have kids take puberty blockers without telling the parents transitioning should take place after the child turned 18 or 21 to wait till the brain is fully developed because having the want to wear boys or girl clothes examples my mother was a tom boy if she was like that now they would convince her she must be trans and have her destroy every ability to procreate and then I would never be born but if this continues there will only be republican left in the United States because the left aborted all their babies and the rest are all gay and will finally provide them evidence that no men cannot get pregnant 😉
