She started writing at a very young age to deal with things bothering her, and never intended becoming an artist. She turned down the offer at first, but her mother talked her into trying as she thought she should share her music. Really good and meaningful lyrics, and a perfectionist in the studio. Her albums are great, but she really shines live. Not just because of her obvious talent, but because of the emotions she puts into her performances. The added plus is her personality shining thought when she talks in between songs. I've heard more than one person saying they use her music to fall asleep 😊 .
One of my hobbies is watching people fall in love with Aurora. When you said you wanted to hear high notes, I just kept thinking "wait until you get to soft universe." She hits those high notes at the end live too. subscribing for the Aurora journey.
That one part in "Forgotten Love" you were confused by is a verse written in an imaginary language AURORA created when she was a child! I have seen her twice live and she is stunning to watch! I wish you the best of luck on this journey you are about to embark on!
I think you will have a fabulous time exploring Aurora's catalogue. Something I find interesting about her music is that she seems to be completely at ease adapting and arranging songs to different venues or environments. So for any given song there may be a studio recording, a live recording with her band, an acoustic version for VEVO, a version from a concert with a full orchestral accompaniment, and a live version with just a guitarist who also does backup vocals. And they're all perfect. I am looking forward to seeing more of your reactions.
I actually saw aurora perform in march in the Sydney opera house and she is even more amazing in person! Infections of a different kind is about how she believes that it is up to us to make a heaven on Earth.
Hi love! subbed! ❤ you mentioned some of her music sounding like a movie soundtrack - She sings on the Assassin's Creed soundtrack and it's MAGNIFICENT. The song is called Hunting Shadows. Looking forward to the next video, be well! 🙃
I really hope you're going to listen to her first album "All My Demons Greeting Me As a Friend"! It's my favorite album from her and it's really unique ❤
Great reaction. Aurora is a special artist for sure. Here are some other artists that will get you lots of views and subs: Dimash Kudaibergen Angelina Jordan Forestella Nightwish Ez Mil (if you're in to rap) Daneliya Tuleshova Ren Very strong fan bases who search the internet up and down for any new reactions. Just thought I'd help you out. Keep it going, you doing great. Love your reactions. 🙂🥒
@@ashlenamusic there are many KEXP performances, make sure it is the 2018 show, she is on fire with energy in that one, her band is really awesome too.
Watching Aurora reactions is a bit of a hobby for me, and this was one of the best ones I've seen in a long time! Most people are introduced to Aurora through her music videos or live (where she's at her best), so it was interesting watching you react to a whole album, especially when you expected to only react to one song. I loved watching you become more and more enchanted by her, as the album went on. Queendom is a bit of an anthem, and perhaps you'll like it more when you watch the music video and/or some of her live performances of it. I would agree that there are better songs on the album than it, but I still think it's a great song. The music video is really good too. As I said, Aurora is at her best when performing live, and "It Happened Quiet" seemed to stick out for you, so I would recommend a live version of that song next. The stripped back version at The Current is easily the most popular (and one of her most popular live performances, period), so that's what I suggest: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-9U-N6LqzdIM.html
Love that you watch reaction videos of Aurora! I will definitely check out the live performance of it happen, quiet first, and then maybe go from there. I’ll make sure to react to it.
AURORA first burst on the scene here in the US in New York playing a couple of small clubs … NPR picked her up for a Tiny Desk Concert (here on YT) It’s hard to get into her performances without seeing any video of her because she is quite captivating live and, imho, often sounds better live than from a sterile studio session. That said her personality really comes through live as well so it’s an added bonus … don’t deprive yourself 🙂
One thing about being a fan of Aurora's music is: every single time you listen to it, it'll be a different experience. Every time it'll be a different understanding of the meaning of the songs. It's unreal. Aurora really is a gift. I get really emotional talking about her, she makes me want to be a better artist and person.
😊👍 Lovely reaction! Aurora's music has been used in many tv series and movies. She was the voice calling out to Elsa in disneys Frozen 2. Both in the movie and in the song "Into the unknown". The creators of Oscar nominated animation movie "Woolfwalkers" asked Aurora to make a special version of her song "Running with the woolves" to be used in the movie. Her songs has also been in several series like: The 100, Girls, The blacklist, Hanna, Teen woolf , the flash, Reign, Grey's Anatomy and more.
@@ashlenamusic She also recently did a soundtrack piece for the game Assassin's Creed and was featured on the soundtrack for BBC nature documentary series "Frozen Planet II"
Love your reaction to Aurora! I love pretty much all of her songs but she has a special one, black water lilies live in like Texas I think? That is one of my top favorites. There is a bird that tweets and she gets distracted for a moment... Your bird guests reminded me haha. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-osboayoBjOk.html
She is so good. I'm jealous watching you hear her for the first time. Eventually you should watch her concert in the nidarosdomen cathedral. It gives me goosebumps so hard it almost hurts 😂
Aurora is a pure artist, she writes and produces/co-produces all her music, and has final artistic say in all that she does. very unique artist, with the most beautiful voice my old ears have ever heard. her music does not stick to one genre, and her live performances are the best you will ever see. i would suggest Murder song 54321, live at the 2015 Nobel peace prize concert, one of the best performances ever . she becomes her music while performing. great reactions, new sub.
I was lucky enough to see her live! I honestly don't believe she's human. She has to be some ethereal, celestial being just wandering through earth spreading love. ❤ Loved your reaction, can't wait for more!
funny you spoke of the show Vikings, the band Wardruna has actually done music for that show, and there is a live performance of their song Helvegan that features Aurora. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-FnkTuHP9q3o.html this is an amazingly powerful performance.
This album came out in 2018, so Aurora was 22 at that time, she is turning 27 in june. You should react and listen to A Different Kind of Human step 2 next. They kind of go together. Loved your reaction.
Im so so happy you liked it! :)) From here you could check out "A different kind of human (step 2)" which is an album instead of an EP ,and the second part to the infections of a different kind story. And its a really beautiful album overall. :)
Sit down off camera and listen with headphones...good headphones. You will be amazed at the complexity of her compositions. Aurora is closer to Prog than pop. Thanks for the reaction :)
Hey hey, I loved your reaction to Infections of a Different Kind, here's something you should take a look at...and i mean a good one.....and lend your ears as well pay attention to Aurora live, this was back in 2022 live in Norway, half the venue but good enough. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-IGIVyPB2sls.html And most important.....anything, any concert you can lay your hands on by Aurora since 2015 is just as good Aurora was born already good, too good , she's the Best of the best , young, talented.........and so fucking insanely cute. I wasn't able to comment when I watched it couple days ago? yesterday? don't matter don't speak Norwegian? it doesn't fucking matter Aurora's Love and Magic is enough to touch you!
Definitely dive into her discography, her music spans different genres, from indie folk to folk pop to art pop to synth pop... And her songwriting and producing is top notch.
I really enjoyed this reaction🤗 I love it when people listen to the lyrics, because Aurora is a storyteller🤗 AURORA (Aurora Aksnes) is a Norwegian singer/songwriter/dancer and music producer born on the 15 of June 1997, so she was 22 when this album was released😊 She started writing music at the age of 6 when she found an old electric piano in the attic, and when she was 9 years old she added English lyrics. So she’s self taught when it comes to singing and playing piano, and her family didn’t know about her talent until she was about 14 years old She wrote her breakthrough song “Runaway” when she was 11 years old 😳 1. Queendom In an interview with Clash she said: "Queendom is about celebrating all the differences in us. It's about celebrating the women and the children and animals and the men also. The quiet ones and the introverts, where they can sing and be seen. It's about the shy people and the lonely people and I hope it can be a place where we can come and be lonely together and then not be lonely anymore. Queendom is a place for all of us." 2. Forgotten Love "Forgotten Love is a song I wrote about how when we choose to fall in love with someone, either a partner or even just the love you have for a friend, we know the risk it takes. How much it would hurt if we would lose this person who we love this much." The parts you didn’t understand was her singing her own made up language 👍 3. Gentle Earthquakes This song is possibly about the LGBT community and sex itself, but this depends on the person who listens to the song since Aurora has stated that the songs on this album can have different meanings to everyone depending on how deep you dive into them.(This goes for most of her songs) 4. All is Soft Inside Aurora often introduces the song as one "for emotional people" 5. It Happened Quiet And 6. Churchyard Both “It Happened Quiet” and “Churchyard” are inspired by domestic violence, and in the end she comes back to haunt the one that hurt/killed her. Aurora rarely write songs about herself, it’s more about things happening in and with this world💕 7. Soft Universe In a response to a Q&A question, Aurora said about the song: "It actually has to do with love... or the fight for love, amongst other things. I was thinking about people fighting for what they believe in, [people] going in protest together to fight for a better world." 8. Infections of a Different Kind "One night I wrote a song in my dreams. It was the title track from my album Infections of a Different Kind - Step 1. I woke up in the middle of the night and went down to my piano. I pushed the record button on my phone and played the melody. And then I went to bed again." Now you just have to react to the rest of this album “A Different Kind of Human step 2”👍😍 Her live performances are👌😍😍
@@lillm6874 Don't you just love when you are there for the very first reaction and it is an awesome reaction like this one? I can't wait for her next Aurora reaction, see you there my Warrior friend, have a great week.
@@Oldperson-wt3ui Yes, it’s awesome😍 We’ll definitely see each other on the next one👍 Have a great week you too fellow warrior 🥰 Tomorrow it’s Norway’s constitution day🇳🇴🇳🇴🥳 Then we dress up in our finest clothes, many in “bunad”👍 You should check out how norway celebrates the 17 of may🥰
@@ashlenamusic She always looked younger than she is, when she was 19 she looked ~14 in some performances. This Step 1 is only an EP, she also has 3 full albums and another short EP with 4 songs, as well as 25+ cover songs and 25+ unreleased songs which are on youtube.
@@ashlenamusic I forgot to post this short beautiful story Aurora told about the song "Infections Of A Different Kind" in an Oct 2018 interview, and you can see she already had the idea for "The Gods We Can Touch" album here 3 years and 3 months before it was released (Jan 2022): "On track eight you say ‘Be god in the shape of a girl’ - what does that line mean to you?" "I was at an airport, it was late, I was alone and my plane was the last one to leave. It was the year before I wrote the song, so 2016, which was a hard year for me because it was quite busy and I was sick all the time - I was in the hospital many many times. So yeah, at the airport… I was on my way home again, I felt a bit out of place, out of my own body, and then I looked at this family. I saw two very tired parents, and then this little girl - she was maybe 3 years old - and she seemed to give them so much joy, even though they were very tired. And she gave me a lot of joy. And then I saw an old couple, leaning over to look at the little girl who was smiling back at them. She seemed to interact with almost everyone at the gate, and make everyone happy. Without even knowing it. And I loved the way happiness and love can be so… simple? Don’t underestimate the power of a child. It was just very magical to see how much it affected everyone and everything. If I was to choose a religion, I would love it if god would be something that you can touch. Something like a little girl, on this earth, and not something that is far away or judges from above, you know?"
I enjoyed your reaction a lot. And she is my favorite artist from the time I discovered her on YT by a chance. And as you see she has a lot of great songs (great song after great) on all her albums. Plus great music outside albums too and even incredible covers (often made as a challenge within a hour). For sure it is worth to check more her incredible music. Also it worth to note that she is not only a singer but she write her music, play piano (and in lower extend some other instruments), co-produce her songs and generally she is involved in every artistic step. And she is natural, self taught Artist. Great talent for me. She started to make melodies all by herself when was 6 and started to add English lyrics from 9 years old (and even her parents did not know about it for first years). She wrote some some song from first album when was 9-11 years old. She become artist by a chance when she bought short time and recorded song for her parents (as did not wanted to perform before them) and someone leaked it on internet without her knowledge. And then her manager contacted with her and asked if she would like to be an artist. She said no at first but mother convinced her that she should share her music as it would be selfish otherwise :). Interesting story, is it?
Aurora is quite the artist. She made me feel again after a painful period and for that she means everything to me, which is what she's done to countless others as well. She has an uncanny ability to project emotions, but you have to check her out live. The studio recordings usually, even if still very very good, are far from what you get when you also see her, because it's not just her voice, it's her whole being.
Fantastic album, but I personally think there are much better versions of each and every song from live performances. Improved instrumentation, tempo, etc. With very few exceptions, no need to listen to album versions with Aurora.
OMG! Aurora is fantastic, her music is special and it’s not an understanding. She’s a little fairy with the most beautiful voice ever. And she’s a very beautiful human with a heart full of love 💜
May I follow you down the Aurora rabbit hole? Subscribing!! Love your reaction. I enjoyed seeing you hear her for the first time. Thank you for doing the whole album. I highly recommend the concert at Nidarosdommen. Complete perfection.
Great fun listening with you experience Aurora for the first time. My favourite artist! You will get lots of recommendations … I suggest you try some of auroras live performances next. It adds another 100% to the experience :-).
loved the reaction! "A potion for love" is the song to listen to to hear her belt out high notes for sure. I know you're very busy but whether you listen to it on your own time or react, I highly recommend the Vevo live performance of it!
Originally a b-side (do we still call it that? 😄) to one of her singles I believe. Not on any album. The Spotify version is fine and all, but I agree the acoustic Vevo version is something else. She's great with just a guitar and/or piano.
I feel as tho you would appreciate the albums: Collxion I & II by Allie X, and Electra Heart by Marina and the Diamonds… both of their discographies are amazing as well but definitley those are great first taste!💜💜
Love your reaction i really enjoyed your commentary in my opinion auroras storytelling is so amazing also shes an incredible vocalist hopefully you check out more of her work shes really something special ♡♡♡♡♡ I would recommend listening to her album "All my demons greeting me as a friend" it was her first music release and she is incredible in it the production and lyrical content is so creative and beautiful hopefully you can give it a listen!!!!
Aurora Aksnes... I'm mainly metal, with sometimes a bit blues/rock/folk, and I can tell that without internet, I would not enjoy her so much. She's creative, has a beautiful voice indeed, writes her lyrics and her music too, that she produces herself (even if not alone, of course), and stays true to herself. That in itself is, in my opinion, worth to respect. But to be honest, if I rather like most of her songs, I can't say I absolutely love her albums. Thanks to internet, we have access to a lot of things, like her live performances (and there are many). I tell you, she's mind blowing live. Especially (because of my own tastes) with just her raw voice, one or two people playing instruments and eventually doing some backing vocals, and her huge musical talent... but she is great live in all settings and with all instrumentation. She's talented enough to make me love the songs that are really not for me in their studio version, thanks to her ability to completely reinterpret her songs depending on the setting and her mood or mind state at that moment. And I know I'm far to be an exception. Do yourself a favour, check out some of her live stuff, or react to it if you wish, it's really worth, in exemple the first song you've listened to, Queendom: Aurora - Queendom - Loustic Sessions, Paris 2018: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-uM8Wqfv5Jw8.html Anyway, nice and interesting reaction to this astonishing, amazing Artist.🙂👍
Nice reaction!. She is a true artiste. I appreciate that you prefer reacting with lyrics ,(and especially with her songs that our deep), but you must see her live. It's a different experience. My favorite is It Happened Quiet live at the curent.
Welcome to the Aurora rabbit hole. You have stumbled into a truely magical place. I hope your journey here is long and beautifully strange. Aurora and her backing vocalist Silja Sol harmonize so beautifully. And Magnus, her producer and drummer, smashes the beat in all of her songs. Infection of a different kind is one of my favourite Aurora songs. It always makes me cry. You should take a look at her HAIK concert and her Nidarosdomen Live concert. they are pure magic.
@21:00 She worked on Frozen I think? I see that you’ve already been carpet bombed in the comments, I’m piling on. I will pretend that I am the first person to tell you to watch the Haik video…the forest concert.🧚🏻
I'm so happy witnessing your start on Aurora discovery journey. Yeah, the whole discovery of her is a journey that never ends.... So I'm also happy knowing all that may waits for you :) Thanj you for sharing that time with us
this entire album is perfection!! love and light lets follow her journey and listen and be the words and music like she does. iff it makes you move and smile, we need to have her in our lives. hugs 🤗 💜💜💜💜💜
Thank you for geat reaction, it is nice to see how people like AURORA. I love her studio album but highly recommend you to check her live performance because she expresses the world of song using her entire body, face, eyes, hands, legs in addition to her voice. And rearrange ment of the song for wach occasion is really creative. So please check it. You must love her much more. For example The nobel Peace Prize concert 2015 or concert at the Nidarostodomen 2017. From one of warriors and weirdos.
Hey , you were wondering if AURORA sung any Viking type music . Yes she has , check out Wardruna & Aurora ( Helvegen ) live . A captivating and magical performance .
She was 21 at the time of this album, and as im sure youve gotten plenty of comments about already her live performances are something definitely worth checking out next. Anything from the nobel peace prize one or KEXP, as well as her US tv debut of conqueror on Jimmy Fallon are all great.
be careful with the Jimmy Fallon, another reactor got a strike for it, Aurora doesn't normally have any copy right strikes, pretty sure that was all because of the Jimmy Fallon show. I have never heard any problems with any of her other reactions, it's generally not an issue with any Aurora or Norway for that matter. But, I know I have been hearing a lot of comments from reactors, mostly big names, Eagles and etc
I've recently upgraded my microphone and started using headphone instead of a speaker. Can't really do much about past reactions when I had no money to put into it.
i agree, the song endings are so important. magnus, the drummer and coproducer of aurora is a good help for her in this particular part. your reaction was a really nice suprise because you to listened to the whole album after the first song. i appreciated this a lot. watch your reaction a second time now.

Thanks ! - Music she makes, the way she channel the music she makes - fantastic voice - AND HER LYRICKS !!! ( and her videos are also fantastic)- She is one of a kind.
