You said you dig this song.... well, you arent alone. There was a Bee Gees backlash at one time, but still to this day, if you are at a wedding and the BeeGees are played, the floor fills up. There is something about this music that is just ... cool. Barry Gibb in this video with no beard is an absolute twin with his much younger brother Andy.

Fun fact, More Than A Woman has the unusual distinction of there being 2 "original" versions, since both were released at the exact same time. While Tavares' version is prominently played in the film, the Bee Gees version plays in the background in another scene. Both were released for the 1st time on the same day, on the soundtrack (& neither group released it as a single).

@@tvgator1 Bee Gees didn’t give it Tavaras 1st. Both versions were released at the exact same time. Bee Gees were in the studio, recording an album, when Robert Stigwood (their manager) asked for songs for a movie he was producing (Saturday Night Fever). Stigwood chose from a list, which included songs they were right then recording. It seems likely More Than A Woman was one the Bee Gees had already recorded, as that would explain the highly unusual, simultaneous use & release of 2 versions, namely; 1-both were used in the movie (Tavares’ is prominent in one scene, Bee Gees plays as background in another), 2-both were included on the soundtrack (Bee Gees on side 1, Tavaras side 2) & 3-neither group released it as a single.

The Bee Gees definitely gave it to them since The Bee Gees wrote the song.And yes they didn’t initially release it for the pop charts however the radio stations played the hell out of it (due to the movie’s success) and it did wind up on the adult contemporary charts in ‘78.

It IS a disco song. The movie Saturday Night Fever was about disco. This song is from the movie soundtrack and 1977 was the height of the disco era. You should just check out the WHOLE Saturday Night Fever album. Album Tracks: Stayin' Alive (Bee Gees); How Deep is Your Love (Bee Gees); Night Fever (Bee Gees); More Than a Woman (Bee Gees); If I Can't Have You (Yvonne Elliman sings it but the Bee Gees wrote it); A Fifth of Beethoven (Walter Murphy); More Than a Woman (Tavares); Open Sesame (Kool & the Gang); Jive Talkin (Bee Gees); You Should Be Dancing (Bee Gees); Boogie Shoes (KC & the Sunshine Band); Disco Inferno (The Trammps). Disco was huge1970s and was black and latino but when they decided to make a movie about Disco they told the story of Italian disco dancer called SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER the group The Bee Gees wrote the soundtrack and it starred John Travolta the movie was big hit and the soundtrack as you hear was great Disco was already big before this movie came out

When Disco started not everyone liked it. There were 3 main groups in school Jocks, Nerds, Heads. If u were a "Head" {smoked pot, tough guy..} disco wasnt cool, u didnt dance. Some Jocks did mostly girls and nerds. The only way u could get away with it was at the roller rink and u were borderline cool if u hung out there. it wasnt till years later when John played in "Saturday Night Fever" did the clubs pop up like "Studio 54" hit and famous people started hanging out doing MASS amounts of drugs was it kool!

Night fever is definitely a disco song along with staying alive you should be dancing More than a woman the whole soundtrack for Saturday night fever they should really watch that movie but the Bee gees have other music too they've been singing and writing songs since I think early 1960s they've also written songs for a lot of other people in fact the song More than a woman they originally wrote for Tavares and r&b group but they also recorded it in both cuts are on the Saturday night fever album
