Billy Joel is such a great singer-songwriter from the 70's-90's. He is one of the best-selling music artists of all time. This song "Uptown Girl" is from his "An Innocent Man" album. It features his then model wife Christie Brinkley. Lots of great songs on it "Tell Her About It", "The Longest Time", "Leave A Tender Moment Alone", "Keeping The Faith", "This Night" etc. My favorite album is "The Stranger" album. All the songs are great including "Just The Way You Are", "Movin' Out (Anthony's Song)", "Only The Good Die Young", "She's Always A Woman", "Vienna", "Scenes From An Italian Restaurant" etc.
Please go down the Billy Joel rabbit hole. He easily boats one of the most impressive catalogues of music. If you get a chance, please react to New York State of Mind live from Old Grey Whistle Test. It's musical mastery from beginning to end.
Full band engaged, including piano. You just didn't pick up on it this first time around ❤ for an acapella Billy Joel, please check out "The Longest Time". Thanks!
... that was an incredible and underrated performance by Billy Joel. The song had between 10-14 different music pitches/ tones/ (whatever) and Billy did them all !!!
They come to see his "Uptown Girl" who was "Supermodel" Christie Brinkley. They were married for a while and had a beautiful daughter. I'm pretty sure they were married when they filmed this. Fun video! May I also recommend "The Longest Time" and "Allentown" for your enjoyment?
Billy was dating Elle Mcferrson (sp?) Another super model when he met and fell for Cristi Brinkly. They were married about ten yrs and have a daughter Alexa who is also a performer. Billy wrote this in the. 80"s as a tribute to Frankie Valley and the Four Seasons. Fun fact Billy has two more daughters under ten yrs with current wife.. in mid 80"s it had non stop radio play and yep it's still played on radio. Try Only the good die young or You May Be Right original video is best. Also Honesty, all for Leyna. Can't miss with Billy. Saw him at Notre Dame in 22 and he rocked an almost 3. hr show at 73 yrs young! An American treasure. Scenes From an Italian Restaurant,Live in Long Island is legendary. River of Dreams is from 93 and a classic with gospel feel. Go down this rabbit hole. You won't regret it. 😊
Now you must see his live performance of New York State of Mind from the UK TV show, The Old Grey Whistle Test. His piano skills will blow you away, and he has a saxophonist who is just about as good.
This song is from the 80’s, but I started listening to Billy Joel on my brothers’ album, The Stranger, which was from the 70’s. I think one of the two guys popping was from this classic Breakdance movie called, Breakin’. It’s pretty cool if you want to see early 80’s hiphop culture and what all us Long Island suburban kids, where Joel is from, aspired to. We were all in breakin crews. But I digress. Here are just some of Billy Joel’s greats, since you asked. Listen to all of these, you'll be happy: You're My Home Captain Jack The Entertainer New York State Of Mind She's Always A Woman Movin' Out (Anthony's Song) Only The Good Die Young Just The Way You Are Honesty My Life It's Still Rock And Roll To Me Scenes from an Italian Restaurant You May Be Right Don't Ask Me Why She's Got A Way Allentown You May Be Right Always a Woman All for Leyna Vienna I have seen your great review of Piano Man. Thanks. He's a true poet, a painter with words, and a great storyteller. Enjoy the journey. Love your enthusiasm and that you always get it.
Apparently, it was originally called, Uptown Girls, and he dated Elle McPherson first. You probably do not know her, but she was another big supermodel, but from Australia.
🎉 This was before piano man. That girl is Christie Brinkley, Which was a supermodel. And. was married to Billy Joel and they both collaborated together on this song.
Billy was dating model Christie Brinkley when she agreed to make this video with him. He wrote this song as a nod to Frankie Valli and The Four Season. I have watched the video of Frankie Valli performing this very song for Billy Joel who was in the audience with Christie. It's awsome!
As others have said, this song was from 1983, and it was a big hit. The songs on Joel's album "Innocent Man" were mostly done in the styles of music that influenced Billy Joel... or that he simply liked. For example, the song "Tell Her About It" was done in Motown style, and "Longest Time" was doo-wop (mostly acapella). "Uptown Girl" was in the style of a 1960s group called the Four Seasons, and Joel absolutely nails the style. If you had heard "Uptown Girl" in 1966, you would have been sure it was a Four Seasons song. Just to give you an example, here is "Big Girls Don't Cry" by the Four Seasons: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-zRZpaxBMJRU.htmlsi=ujA4BN5y2-rkzXfg
I haven't checked, but in case you haven't watched it, check out Billy Joel's We didn't start the fire. Then check out the Marvel Comics spoof of the same song.
B J : We Didn't start The Fire. Someone you have probably never heard of before is 80 year old Brian Hyland. He's been at it for 63 years. Some of his wonderful songs are : Gypsy Woman Sealed With A Kiss I'm Afraid To Go Home Ginny Come Lately
Christie Brinkley also made a cameo in the movie "National Lampoons Vacation ". She was the lady in the car that was flirting with Chevy Chase and later was swimming with him. When this video came out she was huge, so that was the funny thing about this video. Everyone was like , hey Its Christie! LoL.
40 years 🎂 Written by Billy Joel. He originally named Uptown Girls because he was dating Elle Macpherson, the late Whitney Houston, RIP, and Christie Brinkley. Later, he dumped Macpherson and Houston! 🤯🤯 Hence, Joel dropped the title to Uptown Girl. As for he music, Joel was inspired by Frankie and the Four Seasons. The liner notes 📝 lists this sing as a tribute to them. The Backstreet Boys 👦 sang this as a tribute to Joel. He was in the audience and approved. 👍 The term "backstreet guy " gets me giddy! L 🤣 L Suggested videos 📹: 1 Billy Joel sings I Go to Extremes. 2 Billy Joel sings Honesty.
Billy never actually dated Whitney Houston but he met all three when he went to the Caribbean island of St. Barts after his divorce, in order to get away for a while on the advice of Paul Simon. All three women were there for a modelling photoshoot but Whitney was only 16 at the time and was telling Billy that she wanted to be a singer as he was playing piano in the hotel bar area while they all were singing a few songs.
Okay time for a little schooling that was the supermodel Christie Brinkley this video was done in the 80s 90s Christie Brinkley and Billy Joel were married they had a little girl and Christie Brinkley and the little girl got in a plane crash but they survived and helped others learn about the history of rock and roll😅😅🎉🎉❤❤
You obviously do not do any research on the artist you listen to. This song was from 1983. Christie Brinkley was one of the hottest models at that time. They married and had a daughter, Alexis.
Christie is still beautiful, Billy was married to her for 8 or 9 years and has a daughter with her. Billy wanted to make this sound like Frankie Valli and the 4 Seasons, he succeded on both fronts...
