Absolutely!!! Homogenic changed the game, Thom York and Radiohead were inspired by this album and did Kid A, and Thom York said the song Unravel is the most beautiful Love song ever written. But also there is an interview with Missy Elliot going crazy over Bjork and Homogenic!!

Hey, welcome to Bjork's World (The J sounds like a Y ) Bee-Yerk 😉. She's from Iceland and was a Child Prodigy in Classical music. She writes, composes, arranges, produces the Majority of all Her Work . She basically started the Art-Pop/ Glitch-pop/ industrial/electronica soundscape that Has Influenced a ton of todays artists (Gaga, FKA Twigs , Radiohead etc ....) This is her 2md solo album , Her Debut is titled Debut (1993) . It's Oh So Quiet is a Cover . Her Biggest Hit from this and 1 of Times and Rolling Stones most important/influential songs ever is track 2 (Hyperballad) . The Yom Yorke reference and inspiration comes thru on her next Album , HOMOGENIC(1997) That album was the album That inspired Radioheads (2001) album especially track 3 (Unravel) . I will suggest a few things , def Listen with Headphones . 2ndly sometimes she incorporates Icelandic in her verses. Listen to her discography in Chronological Order (it truly shows her Growth as an Artist and how Her Creativity just Skyrocketed) Lastly and probably 1 of the most important aspects of her music are the Music Videos🤯🤯🤯. They're like an extra piece of a Puzzle you didn't realize was even missing & you see how visually creative and Out Of the Box her Brain Works. 🥂💯

Man, I was already having a good day, but seeing you react to this album made it even better! So excited when I saw the thumbnail, lol! "It's Oh So Quiet" is in fact a cover of a cover! It was originally a German song that was covered in English by singer Betty Hutton in the 1950s. But after Bjork covered the song, it became her biggest hit and hers is the version most people have probably heard before. As for Thom Yorke and Bjork's collaboration, apparently they were both fans of each other for awhile before working together on "I've Seen It All." In an interview about the song, Bjork said, "We’ve known about each other for a while. [We were] always just about to do something together, and we were just waiting for the right situation. I was really excited about this song ; I thought that I finally had a song that deserved his voice, ’cause he’s definitely my favorite male singer in the world. I asked him, and he being the kind of guy he is, full of integrity - there’s not a grain of artificial, show-business behavior in him - he kind of insisted that he would turn up [in the studio] and be there for quite a while, so the communication in the song, the recording, was real and genuine." Thom Yorke also provided the backing vocals for her 2008 Icelandic song "Nattura." I wish they collaborated more because they're definitely two of my favorite artists!

it's crazy seeing us people not knowing who bjork (bee-york) is lol. in the 90s she sold millions of records and saw huge success in europe and especially uk. She dominated the charts. she released many other albums, many concept albums etc. She hasn't passed her ,,prime''. She's one of the most critically acclaimed artists of the last 50 years, check out her other albums ,,Debut" ,,Homogenic" and ,,Vespertine"

“It’s Oh So Quiet” is actually a cover of a much older song. The original version, titled “Und jetzt ist es still,” was performed by Horst Winter in 1948, with music by Hans Lang and German lyrics by Erich Meder1. The English version, “It’s Oh So Quiet,” was recorded by Betty Hutton in 1951/2 (not certain). You probably already know all this by now, though.

It’s Oh So Quiet was originally done by Betty Hutton in 1951. Björk said she was touring the US and she found a cassette tape at a truck stop called Divas and the song was on it. She said they would play it right before going on stage to get hyped up. She decided to record as a joke and also a gift to the crew. The music video by Spike Jonze is 🔥. Also her live performance of the song on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno is legendary. Both are on RU-vid. And dang, can’t believe you skipped Isobel. That’s my favorite Björk song! The strings are beautiful as is her singing. I will say it often takes me several listens for a lot of her songs to finally “click” for me. Great reaction!

@@JaKarTV when you watch the live Leno performance you will know the reason it’s iconic when you see it 😂. Also, fun fact about the music video, when Spike Jonze asked her if there was anything in particular she wanted to do in the video she said she didn’t care as long as she could wear an orange dress. So yep she’s in an orange dress in the music video.

Yes!!! I love Björk (to aid in pronunciation her name rhymes with “jerk”), I highly recommend moving forward in her discography. Her next album Homogenic is a beautiful combination of electronic beats, lush strings, and her stunning vocals. A more consistent and in my opinion superior album to Post. Vespertine is the album that follows after Homogenic and it’s even better. Very beautiful, icy, and luscious album. It’s a little less accessible than her 90s output but still a gorgeous album (a top 15 album ever imo). Her Debut album “Debut” is very similar to this, very eclectic and all over the place sonically. Really enjoyable listen but I do think Post is an improvement. Her material afterwards is generally more left-field and experimental. I really like a lot of it but it’s something you might need to have a more open mind with.
@dedrick7949
@dedrick7949 5 месяцев назад
Also, for some context: her first two albums she described as more of a “greatest hits” collection where she’s not as focused on being aesthetically consistent. Homogenic was her first album where she wrote all new material for an album.

@storageheater

i think "i miss you" is not really a good song to send someone you love to say you miss them, it's much more insane, about loving the idea of love, the itchy irritation of desperately waiting, bouncing off the walls lol. i don't really love it tbh but it has a hilarious music video in which bjork's breasts are replaced by dancing condoms containing mini bjorks, and a piranha bites clean through her neck It's a reeeally uneven album IMO, I get why people rate it so high but I just think it feels like a collection of projects, which it secretly is - at the time, singles would have up to a dozen new tracks on them, and she would get the people she toured with to reinterpret all of the songs, so you get some really interesting variations of these tracks - "Cover Me (Dillinja Mix)" perks it up so hard it becomes drum'n'bass, there's *two* versions of "I Miss You" that get a rap section, and Possibly Maybe gets a remix by Dallas Austin, who produced everyone from Michael Jackson and TLC to Madonna (it makes it a little more easy listening, I prefer the weirder versions from Talvin Singh.) There's at least 18 official remixes of Hyperballad and a heavy metal remake of Army of Me that has her absolutely screaming wildly. It's a lot. lol.
