This song is several years old, but it has taken on additional meaning since I lost my dad. He and my mom were married 65 years when he passed, but she's been late for everything her whole life and he always waited so patiently for her. I know he's sitting on a bench in Heaven, just waiting for my mom. When she gets there, he'll placidly stand up, hold out his hand and say, "Where ya' been?" And then he'll sing the song, "Slowpoke," as they walk away together. ❤ Btw, this was the last project Andy Griffith (the old man in the video) did before he passed away. What an American treasure he is!
The old man who sat down beside him to say, "Get used to it. I've been doing it since '52" turns out to have come from Heaven where he hopes his live takes her Tim but he is still wsitin' on his woman. So cool!
The old man was married in 1952 and he always waited for his wife when she got ready to go somewhere, like here his wife was shopping in the mall and he was waiting for her to come when she was done and he told the young fellow that he didn't mind waiting. He didn't get mad at her he just waited till she came and that he was use to it. And he told the young man it will be the same for him so he better get use to waiting and not make a fuss. At the end he was was in heaven and he told his wife to take her time coming to heaven because he didn't mind waiting on a woman. He would wait till she came.
What else can you do as a man? Might be annoying when you’re young, but you get used to it. Hurrying up my wife is only going to make her mad and it’s not going to work anyways. So I wait.
