I’m a 70’s child, Bread was & is my favorite band., man! That voice kills me! Yes it was a hit, it reached # 1. They dont make music or songs like that anymore .
Bread was an amazing band. Anything I Own, If, all great songs. David Gates would eventually go solo, and Goodbye Girl was great. I believe what he means by climbing rainbows was that he was taking a huge chance, thinking about the possibility of being with her, kinda like wishing upon a star. Well chosen, Greg!
Climbing on rainbows simply means taking things to a loving, hopeful place. You have to listen to “If” by Bread. It will bring a tear to your eyes. There will never be another decade like the ‘70s for music
@@myradevaney2518 I couldn't have said it better. However, if I may add, in some cultures it's customary to wish on a rainbow. Young girls would wish for the perfect partner..... Things like that. Silly of course, but it happened.
David Gates lead singer had a nice solo career after they parted ways. Great song writer too. He wrote and performed the title song for the movie The Goodbye girl and many many others. He is the only surviving member of Bread. I have all the Bread albums and all his solo stuff too. Last heard he has a ranch in the Pacific Northwest.
First of all I love you're reaction to this song. Guitar Man is one of my favorite song from these guys, and you won't go wrong with If, another great song. The list is endless. The Best of Bread l have it on CD, Cassette and 8-track. Still listening to these guys.
My brother gave me this record when I was 8. I wore it out! I of course didn't really understand it but it calmed me and made me feel at peace. Never apologize Greg. You're only hearing this music for the 1st time ❤
If I said to a friend of mine, back in September 1970, "hey, you just gotta hear this song," nothing would have made me happier than seeing the way Greg reacted here.
They are the epitome of easy listening music. I had several of their tapes back in the day. Must have worn them out. Everything they did was this good.

Bread was one of my all time favorite band. They still are. So many wonderful songs. Thank you for putting some amazing music on for us to remember (or hear for the first time)
Wow Greg haven’t heard this songs since MY 70’s. I was in high schools then. And I heard my music on the radio. Couldn’t afforded to buy a record let alone an album. Thx for bring back that great music!

There's a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow, climbing rainbow is possibly taking a chance on reaching the pot of gold. Make it with you, making a great relationship!
Climbing rainbows is very much like living your dream. I own the first three albums when the band was together. This song played on the radio long after its normal time.

David Gates is the lead singer who's still in the business at age 83! Bread was definitely the definition of Soft Rock. When it's 1973 in a dark living room listening to their album specifically Make It With You with your first boyfriend. 🪷 Nice lyrics and it was just Pretty. Oh ya and it was was to dance to. 🪷
