Me too! The first time I heard Jimin's first verse it made me cry a lot and I didn't even know what the hell they were talking about exactly I could only feel... Their voices are too much
This song is also known to be a challenge to the vocalists, they and RM have all said (vlive June 2019) however they are very attached to it and often get emotional singing it. V has so has Jin, Jimin did too but that was because he couldn't sing it in a concert due to a sore throat and cough so Army sang his part which was soooo touching. JK comforted him on stage and then there is footage showing V and Jin coming over to him too as soon as the lights dimmed....then Jin walking backstage with him.....sooo supportive. 💜. RM has also said (Vlive June 2019) that he and JHope always watched the ending backstage during the LY tour as Jimin can change how he does that last sentence as he can end it in several ways...sad or on a brighter note....they are truly the most amazing artists.......💜💜
If I’m not mistaken, Jimin was sick for one of these performances and was so moved when Army was singing his lyrics with him that he cried. I believe it was their performance in Brazil.
It was Brazil and I still thank Brazil Armys for singing their beautiful voices for jimin. I’m sure bts and armys will never forget that moment. It was truly a beautiful moment for jimin to realize that he has army besides him no matter what. That’s why he cried. He was extremely heartbroken for getting sing and couldn’t perform at his 100% but when army’s started singing ALONG and FOR him… it basically reminded him that it’s alright jimin… we got you!!! You did your best in this tour alone and we would never blame or be upset. 💜💜💜
Some backstory about The Truth Untold. This song is from the "Love Yourself" era and kind of emphasises the importance of loving yourself. The boys and their company drew reference from the story of Smeraldo, a variation of the Beauty and the Beast story. However, there is not a happy ending to this story. It represents an entangled love story surrounding the Smeraldo which is estimated to have taken place around the 15th-16th centuries in the city of “La Citta di smeraldo”. According to various sources, the story supposedly has a tragic ending filled with yearning, sadness and sincerity that could not be delivered. According to the story, there once lived a man. He lived in a secluded castle in La Città di Smeraldo. There is not much information about the man except that he was the ‘love child’ of the duke of Florence who fell in love with a poor gardener’s daughter. She passed away at childbirth due to excessive bleeding leaving the man alone in the world. Being a child born out of wedlock, he was the source of misery to the wife and children of the duke, who tried to kill the poor boy. As a result, the duke sent him to a place further away. There were many rumours, but none was revealed. It is said the man alone hid in solitude at the old castle and wore a mask because he was very ‘ugly’. Probably because of all the hatred and jealousy he received as he lived, he didn’t open his heart to anyone. When anyone tried to approach him, he would hide away in anger and distrust. He shut himself from the world. Both his body and his heart. His only joy was to grow flowers in his garden. It made him happy and peaceful. But things took a beautiful turn. A turn which would be a moment of beauty within the memories at the corner of his head. A turn that would leave a sorrowful scar his heart forever and bring in tears to his eyes. Fate was playing on him. One day, a girl appeared in front of him near the vicinity of his castle. She was in ragged clothes. As he watched, the girl picked up the heels off the garden fence, climbed over it, and stole some flowers. The man was mad as a hornet at first. He was mad at her for stealing his precious flowers. He spent his whole night guarding the flowers. But in his brief moment of sleep, the girl picked up some flowers and ran away. Several nights continued to pass like that until the man pretended to be asleep and watched the girl go. He was curious. Who was she? Why does she steal my blooming pretty flowers every night? Without realising it, the man waited for the girl and followed her one night. He disguised himself with a cloak and followed her. After following her to a village, he realised why she stole flowers in his garden every night. He found out that the girl sells these flowers because she is very poor and has no other way to provide a living for herself. He felt very bad for her. Guilt filled him up. The man wanted to help the girl. He wanted to teach her every method of growing flowers he knew. He wanted to teach her how to grow beautiful flowers. He was slowly falling in love with her. The man started growing many flowers for her and made sure they were of the best quality. He wanted to show up in front of her. Tell her of his feelings towards her. But, he knew he could not show up in front of her. She would be scared of him. He must hide. Because he was ugly. She would not love his ugly appearance. So he never got the courage to confront her At the end, the only thing he could do was to grow and take care of the flowers so that she would keep coming to his garden. With time, he decided to himself that he would grow the most expensive flower (the Smeraldo) for her to sell. That was the only way he would unveil his sincerity to her. He locked himself in the castle. After many attempts, he succeeded in making the flower. The flower was very beautiful. It was something that never existed in the world. Afterward, he filled his garden with the flower and waited till nightfall for the girl to return. He waited and waited for the girl to come back to the garden to steal the flower. But the girl did not return. She was nowhere to be seen. No matter how much he waited, the girl wouldn’t return to his garden. It made him anxious. He later visited the village he had followed her to before. He was afraid. Afraid that she would leave him in the end. So he decided to wear a mask and go to see her. Unfortunately, he found out that the girl had died. Thus the flower language of the Smeraldo is as such: ‘non-potevo dire la verità’ or ‘the truth that could not be told’, which is also the title of the song. The story teaches us much more than just heartbreak. It teaches so much about being scared to show your true self. Because of his low self-esteem, the "Beast" didn't show himself to the girl and, instead, decided to try and create a new flower for her. If he hadn't been so convinced that she would reject him that he never actually approached her, then he might have been able to help her and prevented her death. It i the "truth untold" because he never told her how he felt about her. All of this, just to encourage people to love themselves. BTS along with Steve Aoki produced this song from the viewpoint of the “beast” in the story. The song touches various emotional components revealing the untold sincerity of the man. It taps into the sorrow in a vulnerable approach. “The Truth Untold” is the second collaboration between Aoki and the Korean boy band. It follows his remix of BTS’ “Mic Drop.”
So Smerldo is a story written by BigHit, not an actual Italian story. It is told as an old Italian folk tale that one of the character reads about in the BU storyline. It's not actually an old Italian story.
Truth Untold make me cry each time.😪 Vocal Line truly sounds amazing live but Jungkook's adlibs and harmonization is my favorite parts. He is definitely astounding like always👏💜
Jimin's certain vulnerability, rawness and unique singing in each of the live performances of this song and his high notes make my hair stand on end, there is a performance where he did a super improvised mega high note I think it's at the concert from Bangkok, his voice is really beautiful and amazing.
I've never been into metal so it would be interesting to know what songs you think would suit Jin's voice. Because I think that would be pretty rad. And I'd like to get a better understanding of what your vision of him would be. I think his voice and storytelling capability really suits 1970's Southern Californian Folk/Rock ballads. When there were real songwriters creating lyrics. Like Carole King and Simon & Garfunkel. I would love to hear him singing a duet of IF - with Bread. His voice has a touch of nostalgia and longing to it which makes people teary eyed when he sings. He is such a great balladeer.
You described Jins voice perfectly and I also agree regarding the 1970s vibe. People forget that Rock is not Metal and confuse the two. Jin singing Bridge Over Troubled Water would be divine.
The Truth Untold is such a beautiful, powerful, emotional song.💜🥺 They just reach into your chest, rip your heart out, throw it on the ground, stomp on it, then present it back to you all wrapped up in a pretty bow.💜💝💖 The emotion they put into the song is incredible. You can see it in your mind, watch the heartbreaking scenes play out before you. It's a song that doesn't need an MV, because your mind supplies it's own.💜👌🏻 It's songs like these, and the emotion - the loneliness, the pain and sorrow, the heartbreak and despair - that Jimin can breathe into his performance, that had J-Hope and Namjoon dub him The Forlorn King.💜😍 But all of them are amazing. All bringing their unique tones and feelings to the song. It must have been insane hearing it live.💜👌🏻🙏
This song is just soooooo beautiful, absolutely love it! Jin, Jimin, Jungkook and V sing with so much passion and emotion, it gives my goosebumps! love them very much!!!
This song is so beautiful and emotional. I cry every time. Their voices are awesome. They express the vulnerability and the sadness so well. It’s my favorite song for the vocal line. I like your reaction. Thanks. 💜💜💜
Thank you for this reaction I knew that you would be surprised with Jimin's high note at the end. Jimin sometimes surprises us with high notes during live performances. If you enjoy Jimin's high notes, then I would recommend Jimin Best Live High Notes and Raspy Vocals Compilation and Jimin Killing Voice. Thank you!
If there is something that I love about Jimin, it is that on many occasions he changes his original notes, this not only gives a different touch to the presentation, but also proves to his haters that he sings live, without playback. He has changed his notes in Fire, boy with luv, idol and even on one occasion he changed notes in Lie, simply great.
His vocal is that much clear live that some idiots think he isn't singing live. I would say his vocal is the most stable one compared to his hard and complicated dance. I will never forget he got the lead vocalist position without any professional vocal training like others, u can understand this guy is full of talents and hard work.
BTS really went all out with the promotion centered around this song. They created a blog on Naver that was supposedly the blog of a florist with a name that is Italian for "yourself. He met a woman named Amare, "love", at a lecture that he went to. He meant to go to a lecture about the Smeraldo flower, a fictional flower that Big Hit created, but he had gotten the date wrong, so he went to another lecture where he met Amare. She told him a variation of a Beauty and the Beast story, which explains the origin of the flower. That's the story told by the song. A deformed/ugly man lived alone in a castle. He loved the flowers in the garden and became angry when they were stolen. They were being stolen by a very poor girl who was selling them to make a living. He fell in love with her but, because he was ugly, he didn't approach her. Instead, he spent time trying to create a unique flower so that she could sell it for more money. However, by the time the flower was ready, the girl had stopped coming to his garden and he found out that she had gotten sick and died. The point of the story is the question asked in the song. If he had approached the girl when he first saw her, would things have turned out differently? BTS uses the flower in the BU videos. I'm not sure which flower they use, but they painted it pink and blue. The name of the flower comes from the name of the fictional town where it was created, supposedly in Italy in the 15th or 16th century. I don't have the link to the Insta blog for the florist, but before Covid, Big Hit was using it to announce BTS comebacks. The blog would be updated with the opening date of the flower shop being the date that the next BTS album would drop. All of this to promote the Love Yourself series. Oh, and the idea is that maybe if the ugly man had loved himself enough to have the courage to approach the girl, maybe their story would have had a happy ending. It's a beautiful, powerful message, but even without all of that, it's a beautiful song. One of my favorite BTS songs.
That Jungkook and Jimin belt at the end is so full of emotion it almost breaks your heart. This is by far one of their best live ballads, in my opinion. The raw emotion from all of them…🥺
Cried buckets when I heard this song for the first time. The song itself is so powerful combined with their voices...just WOW. Thanks for a great reaction!!
This was the song I heard my daughter listening to when I heard Vs voice singing "I'm so afraid" it captivated me a drew me into listening to the song again. That was Sept 2020 and I am still totally captivated by them all.
Beautiful song sung beautifully by 4 superb vocalists. Their talent is showcased so effectively in songs like this, where there is no choreo and you can just concentrate on how amazing they are. Another contender for your playlist is "House of Cards" - their performance is just exquisite.
You are right about Jin he needs to do metal or rock album since his voice is really powerful. Even a famous musical director James oreseo* said that about it . He even said Jin can do good in musical theatre also . * I don't clearly remember his surname you can check it out .
This is such a beautiful song that shakes my emotions every time. V’s emotional voice JK’s voice and his ad libs are awesome, Jimin’s soulful voice and then skin’s belting voice amazing. The arrangement of this song is awesome. JK’s ad libs connects it all. Thank you for reacting this song. 💜💜
I really love Jungkook's voice in this song, specially every adlib during whole song. Of course every member brings the emotion in the live performance. But in this one I really like how JK sounds so emotional, similar to Stay Alive
Beautiful, grief stricken song of yearning. All those emotions of inadequasy, shyness, shame, desperation, fearful hoping, all those emotions that have been felt by all of us at some low time in our lives.
This is not just one of my favourite BTS songs, it's one of my favourite songs period. The live version kills me every time - V's emotion, the harmonies, JK's adlibs, Jin's belt, Jimin's high note. It's all perfection.
Jungkook really sang with emotions. They all did, but it just hits different. His covers of other songs also show that he really can deliver the emotions through singing with a perfect tone and pitch, ofcourse. Also his ad-lib in this song is insane. Thank you for this! 💜
@@DestructiveMediaYT if I remember correctly it’s from my Memories 2019 set. It has 6 dvds so don’t remember exactly which one. I did find the one below so you get an idea. As always thank you for your reactions. House of Cards is a must. First song I learned in Korean lol ru-vid.comIrOfzPoq7fw?feature=share
Perfect choice of song to react to for a calm and reflective Sunday afternoon. The song is heart piercing… 😌 my favorite (next to House of Cards) because you can appreciate the amazing vocal line ranges and the heartfelt and emotional message behind it. Absolutely beautiful.🥹 Thank you. 🫶
I feel that The sand castle was a metaphor for something wonderful that we built and lived in our whole life, but it is a castle made of sand. It will be wiped away soon as the sea wave comes.... those beautiful things are gone.. but.. "I still want you".
I love all BTS songs, but this is my no 2 song, so beautiful and I went to 3 BTS concerts (O2 Arena, Wembley and Singapore) and hear them live to sing this song.... harmony and so good vocals... so so beautiful
This song has a special place in my heart. An It really showcases their beautiful voices. I was lucky to see them performing it live in Amsterdam.... ahh sweet memories. Thank you for reacting to it. 💜💜💜💜
@@DestructiveMediaYT you are right about Jin, he must do a metal or rock album since his voice is really powerful. Number of vocal coaches said that Jin has 80s rock vibe to his vocals . There is a famous musical theatre director James oreseo said that Jin should go along the lines of rock or metal because of his powerful vocals . He even said Jin would do good in musical theatre also as his voice is really emotional.
The Truth Untold - BTS vocal line is overwhelming, powerful, moving. The best no doubt!! 🤩🫶🏻 The vocal build up through their harmonies then Jimin going for the high notes & emotional singing gets me everytime I watch the live.
You are good! You hit the mail on the head with your comments. I agree to them all. Thank you for listening to this song with me. Such a a beautiful song
This song is so beautiful and emotional. I saw you also reacted to Jin’s Epiphany. Awesome reactions. Some time you need to watch the live versions of both. The emotions on their faces makes the songs so much better.
Sweet Jimin… they all have amazing voices that are so soulful … each one of them bring out such emotion… it makes it so much more believable even as a song. Truly a miraculous grouping of voices w BTS. The chemistry doesn’t happen like that often with groups. BTS has it. ❤
Sad one, but definitely a favorite along with House of Cards (also only vocal line). Glad you enjoyed it. They are almost always better live. They sing with passion and emotion and it's so much better than just a lyric video in my opinion.
Jimin has always catched my attention with his high notes and emotions that i realized was tearing already and give me goosebumps everytime he hits high notes. 😭😭😭 this song i love it so much esp the live versions.
Todos cantan hermosos, pero cuando entra JIMIN te deja una magia increíble distintas a los demás.. cualquiera de sus canciones pasa lo mismo. Es mágico JIMIN!!
Such a beautiful song, gives me chills the first time. I still remember the first time I heard it was a few weeks after finding them and I was driving home late at night and I had to replay it because I just felt it
Oh, the joy and the pain of being a metalhead who loves pop music and wishing all our pop faves do a metal album. I can relate to that all too much, especially when I hear Jin belt it out in a rock ballad or when I listen to Taylor Swift's more rock-influenced moments (Eyes Open, Haunted, All Too Well). You're not alone. And this song is indeed a masterpiece. Another favorite singer of mine who evokes a similar feeling is Sandy. She usually sings a soft pop or pop-rock heavily influenced by jazz, but her VOICE is up there with Floor Jansen and other symphonic metal vocalists. It reminds me a little of Sharon from Within Temptation, but with more power. A few moments that had me dreaming of a metal album: when she was featured in Angra's "Black Widow's Web" alongside Alissa White-Gluz, and when she sang "Coração Triste" live with Família Lima and they gave me what I never knew I needed lol
The line "I hung myself in the sand castle" is so devastating. Because you can't hang yourself in a sand castle, it will collabs. My interpretation is: living in a situation/head space you constantly want to escape from but can't, no matter how often you try. ... Must be so agonizing 😭
"The Truth Untold" is a song from the album "Love Yourself: Tear" which is inspired by the book "La Citta Di Smerado" which tells the story of an ugly man who kept himself inside a castle afraid that people would speak ill of him, they judged him by his appearance, and the only thing that made him happy was tending his garden. One day, he saw a woman stealing flowers from his beloved garden, and he tried to see who it was. She stole his flowers and sold them to survive, so when he found out about this, he was desperate to help her, but he was afraid to leave his house, and frighten her with his appearance. So he created a flower that didn't even exist for her to steal and sell for a very high price. He spent a lot of time trying to create the flower, and when he finally finished, he received word that the woman had passed away. "If I hadn't hidden my face, being who I really was, would everything be different now?"
So there is no real book called 'La Citta Di Smerado". It is a made-up legend by BigHit, as it plays an important part in the BU storyline. Not a real book or Italian story though.
This was THEEE song that got me intrigued… I had no idea what they were saying but I could feel it…. I had to look up the lyrics and that’s all it took. Down the deeep deep rabbit whole. It’s been 4 years and I’m just a whole different person going into my late 30s. 💜
