Sukwinder Singh became a legend after this song (rightly so) but why didn't the female vocalist receive the same acclaim? Have watched this song so many times since childhood and today is the day i actually truly appreciated how brilliant she sounds. The way her voice harmonizes with Sukwinder's is stunning.

@@astikkumar2962 Not true. Even Malayalam makes masala movies but they are almost never good and Tamil has a ton of good Masala movies. Telugu has both good and bad movies like any other Industry. It's what each Industry is famous for. Telugu regularly pulls of movies that are not grounded in reality and with a lot of exaggeration but is fun to watch. Malayalam is naturally good at grounded realistic movies. Tamil has all kinds of movies and they're good at all genres. I'm a Malayali and our attempts at grand MASS Masala movies were usually pathetic before Lucifer and all.

"Dil se" - I love that movie. One of the best soundtracks. The music and songs are amazing, completely different, beyond time ... Especially "Satrangi re" - so poetic, so captivating ..., unforgettable... You absolutely must watch this video. Maybe there is a version with subtitles. But before that, learn about the 7 stages of love :)

I love this song Chaiyya Chaiyya it's ICONIC it's a classic from this classic film Dil Se. SRK is king of the 90s with this song. I love it. They actually danced on a moving train and shot this. I love the dancer actress MALAIKA ARORA. She's so good too. It's awesome that they could dance on a moving train and not fall off. One of my favorite songs ever! It is one of SRK'S best. I love the singers voices

Yes actually the name of the movie is Not Uyire , its actually "Dil se", this movie is awesome...Director is Mani Ratnam sir one of the finest..it also has Manisha Koirala....its a great movie...

AR Rahman created this magic decades ago and we are discussing as now in 21st century. By the way there were some many oscar matching compositions by ARR before Slumdog. Only thing is the day came in 2009. One suggestion is please don't stop music in the middle. Many fans don't like ARR music sopped in the middle. 😀😀😀😀

Thought I heard this song before but didn't know from what film it came from. In fact where I did hear it is from a musical produced by Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber called Bombay Dreams in London's West end in from 2002 then went to Broadway in 2004 which is based on the slums of India and tells the story of a young slum dweller who's dreams of becoming a huge movie star.Never seen the film version but did see the stage version which I went to see many many years ago.With a BRILLIANT SOUND TRACK smash hit after hit which I still have on CD and DVD of behind the scenes making of the stage show from rehearsal and opening night with a visit by Her Majesty the Queen. Unfortunately the show is not on any more hopefully will come back on stage soon 👍❤️. It was a really good show.

Hey NJ, I can see you loved the video and spoken so fondly of it. If I'm not wrong it was the first song from Sukhwinder singh sir in a movie and he won Best male playback singer that year in almost all the award shows and when he announced winner on Filmfare Award Ceremony & after his award acceptance speech, people made him sing this song 5 times in a row and they were still shouting once more-once more, which was surely a magical moment to witness to watch this Legendary singer delivering the awesomeness each time. One of A.R. Rahman's bests. I hope you cover more of his music. Can see you have already done a couple (Muqabala). The movie is called Dil Se in Hindi (there are both Hindi and Tamil versions, this one is Hindi. And it's the Hindi version that became a world hit. Was also used in Denzel Washington's movie Inside Man in opening credits.
