The lady in the gold ensemble is known as 'Carleen The Dancehall Queen'. She was the first internationally recognized Dancehall Queen. 🇯🇲🇯🇲 Putting my lighter up.🔥 Big up to Sly & Robbie who created that iconic riddim! Chaka Demus and Pliers also did an iconic remake/cover version of a Toots and The Maytals song called "Bam Bam". If you love this (Santa Barbara) riddim You should check out another Sly & Robbie production, "Pull Up To My Bumper" by Grace Jones.
Most people never saw the original video of this song it was very low budget but was put together pretty well and I saw it on a show in the 90s called Caribbean rhythms.
I met them in 1992 or 93 along with Shabba Ranks, Cutty Ranks, Supercat and others at the Notting Hill carnival. My mate lived next door to David Rodigan and he invited us along to carnival to hang on the Kiss float, then various after parties. I was 16 and will never forget it.
6:26 that dance you pointed out BJ is what we call the butterfly. Nuh worry Asia, you can learn lol. Big up goldie, Carlene the Dancehall Queen. "Murder She Wrote" peaked at #5 on the Hot Rap Songs chart back in 1993. Please react to Super Cat - "Dolly My Baby", Buju Banton - "Wanna Be Loved," Wayne Wonder - "No Letting Go," and Maxi Priest - "That Girl (feat Shaggy)."
OMFG its been 30 years since this?!?!?!? I feel old now 😭😂 Remember listening to this in high school here in Spain, at the time *NOBODY* was listening to dancehall/ragga.
Look up the lyrics to this song. It's about a woman who is just rachet and eventually gets an abortion. Chaka Demus and Pliers to me are the greatest Dancehall Reggae duo in the world.
"A pretty face and bad character Dem the kinda livin' can't hold Chaka, follow me! A pretty face and bad character Dem the kinda livin' can't hold Chaka"
Please react "Remember When" by Color me Badd. Color Me Badd was formed in 1985 and awarded as "Best RNB/Soul boyband" during early 90s. They are one of the most underrated boyband but one of the greatest! "Remember When" was already their last song album before they were disbanded in 1998
That hip replacement at 40 years old is all them childhood sports bro. Same thing here 40 years old and had total hip reconstruction, for playing every sport every year, never would I take it back though.
I had to look in on this one. I haven't even thought of Chaka Demus & Pliers in so many years. Someone in my past told me about them but I have too many songs in my playlist (in the thousands) that, sometimes, great new music gets squeezed out. I did recognize the song and love the video so I'm going to have to re-insert CD&P back into the playlist and look into more content from them. Thanks for posting your reaction.
Loved it, never heard it before, hey Asia go for it, it more organic, just roll with it. I lived in Nigeria for a while as a child, and they had a dance party televised once a week, and people just dance how they wanted. I also hung out with the Caribbeans in London as a young woman, went to Notting Hill Carnival fantastic. Love my time there love the music. There was alot of their musical influence in music around 1980 in England.
You have to remember back in the 70s and 80s youth in the UK, Reggae was bigger than soul or the beginning of hip hop generation. I was brought up in 60s and 70s inner city Manchester UK,my family are Irish, my neighbours either side of me were West Indian. So iam a bit surprised that more people from your side of the POND don't react to more Reggae. Thanks for cool reaction.
Shabba ranks, Petra, super cat, Wayne Wonder, Sean Paul, sister Nancy, Barrington Levy, Junior Reid. Any of these artists would be great choices to go down a reggae rabbit hole. Happy hunting and as always keep up the good work 💯🔥
Love this song while in school. The dance BJ speaking about is called the butterfly. Chakademus and Pliers are Dancehall Legand. Since you into Caribbean Music right now can I interest you to some Soca music from Trinidad and Tobago 🇹🇹 . For a little taste check out Nessa Preppy "Issa Snack" WARNING ⚠️ Asia you might loose BJ on this one. Or Patrice Roberts "Tender"

Yuh pretty face an' bad character Dem the kinda livin' can't hold Chaka, follow me! Yuh pretty face an' bad character Dem the kinda livin' can't hold Chaka ❤️❤️
Try Buju Banton Untold Stories, Champion for a stranger sound Ataklan - Naked Walk - Some of these are real social commentary not the plastic party stuff nowadays
Hi! You two beautiful people : thank You for all Your videos an all Your work! I know I am only a subsciber.. but : would You , please , do a reaction to Bjørk : "Play dead" ? ..I know many people find Her and Her music "weird" ..but in this song You can clearly identify Her unique music style and voice abilities ..with a charming Icelandic accent. : if You will , I believe You will be the first one on Y.T. : )
Please react to the new version of My Funny Valentine by Angelina Jordan, at 16 years old, released February 14. This is perhaps her best vocal perfomance to date, in my opinión ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-bWiLOnHJYxg.html
