i literally grew up on CoB, they were one of the pillars that built what music is for me. it's so great that so many years later people can still discover them and hear the genius they had
Finnish Thrash pioneers. Guitarist from the band, Roope Latvala, joined Children of Bodom. Also illustrated the Stone's album cover, from which this song is. Children of Bodom covered the song: "Stone - No Commands" and "Children of Bodom - No Commands". Couple of other Finnish bands: "Impaled Nazarene - Armageddon Death Squad ", "Reverend Bizarre - Doom Over the World", "Demilich - When the Sun Drank the Weight of Water", "Ensiferum - Little Dreamer" and "Wintersun - Loneliness".
Personally I always loved Alexis vocals. I hate the typical Cookie Monster vocals that most metal bands have. Alexi had more of a growl at first, and then he started incorporating more of his actual voice.
Fucken awesome band, but definitely an acquired taste. They are “melodic death metal” - they’ve got a death-ish vocal style, but their music is a little more melodic and the use of synths helps brighten their sound. The vocals might be a little too much, especially for someone just getting into metal.
