As a guy from Texas, Cody Johnson is more of a traditional country artist. His inspirations come from the great 80’s, 90’s country artists and even further back. The pop country sound your hearing is the Nashville production. His Texas old school country sound with Nashville production is what artist like him are striving for these days. This is s great song, so is “Human”. You should listen to Cold live by Chris Stapleton on the 2021 CMA awards. Even his performance of the Star Spangled Banner at the Super Bowl can make you choke up a bit. It’s gotten rave reviews, even from many reactors from other countries. Pink did an interview stating she thought no one else should sing it again, even her, ever. I’ve heard reaction videos from people of color call him a “generational talent.” It’s a rabbit worthy of going down.
