The last half of this album... The Stone, Crush, The Dreaming Tree, Pig, and Spoon is definitely "night music," if ya know what I mean. Spent many nights listening to this in the dark with a friend. Nailed it, BJ.
🙌 💜 This album is amazing from start to finish. This song has Bela Fleck playing the banjo. I am hoping you get introduce to him soon, along with the Flecktones. Definitely need more live music. So many bands that give you a completely different feel once you hear them live. This was the last album produced by Steve Lilywhite, which are my favorites. The subsequent producers were highly well known at the time, and it definitely influenced their sound.
Before These Crowded Streets is the DMB masterpiece.... the band at their best playing and Dave's lyrics soaring with the music. Been a fan of them for a long time and.. DMB will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2024. You could react the whole record and not go wrong.
I have been lucky enough to see 435 Dave Matthews shows in 38 States and four countries and the vibe that you get from a Dave Matthews show is unlike anything else I have ever seen.
What a marvelous reaction. For those of us who've been lucky enough to attend lots of concerts by geniuses like Dave, it was a real thrill getting to see you enjoy his show last year. I love a lot of DJs, but there is something to be said for the human interplay that's involved in numerous musicians cooperating on a great composition. When something has a form, but still has the space for the artists to be freely present, that makes each performance completely unique to that audience.
DMB bringing out the emotion in you. It’s what they do! As a fan it’s so awesome to see others find out about them and feel it too ❤ I’d love to see some more reactions to their songs. Keep em coming!
The finger picking banjo in this song is performed by Bela Fleck of Bela Fleck and the Flecktones. DMB's original saxophonist, LeRoi Moore, passed away in 2008 and the Flecktones' old saxophonist, Jeff Coffin, is with DMB now. There's a video on RU-vid of DMB and the Flecktones performing together. Search for "dmb flecktones 41 long version" and go for the first result.
This is my favorite band since 95’ . I’ve been to a ton of their shows. They’re excellent live. Their music is phenomenal though some don’t get it but the ones that do understand . You should react to more of their songs .
As big of a fan as I am for DMB, I've never heard this song before. I'm so digging this one. The type of sounds coming out of this song was crazy. Great reaction. "Watch the posters!" 😁
Bela Fleck plays the banjo, Him and his band the flecktones are some of the worlds best muscians. Totally check em out they do a sorta jazz fusion style.
Please keep doing more! I've watched so many reactors cry and jam to their songs one or two times, then it's over. Fan since I was a boy in 2001, 23 concerts, which is pitiful in the Davehead world. Explore every album one song at a time. They are going into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this year. The world needs to know DMB isn't just two songs from the radio! I'm not going to flood you with requests, but I'll pick two lol lie in our graves #41 Thanks for the hours of entertainment!
Still the white whale I've been chasing in the 26 years I've been seeing them live. They've played it maybe 50 times, mostly when a woman was around to sing Alanis's lines. Last year (2023), Dave played the whole thing by himself, so maybe a shot at it? Such a wonderful tune, it deserves more play,
