This song is pretty nice... It reminds me a bit of Fire Bomber, the fictional band from the anime Macross 7 (7 is for the name, it's not like the 7th in the franchise... I think it's the third? Might be fourth... I think Macross Plus came out at vaguely around the same time)... Particularly songs like "Angel Voice", "Remember 16" and maybe "My Soul For You"... Although they do have a few more upbeat and/or heavier songs too... Some songs, particularly those sung by the female vocalist rather than the male one, trend a little towards the psychedelic in sound too... With some reversed sounds and such... Some of it reminds me a bit of some of the later Beatles stuff... If you check them out, make sure you're checking out the Japanese versions... They did make an album of some of the songs rewritten in English and sung by different vocalists... They're not bad as such, but I think the original vocalists sound better, especially the male vocalist.. By all means try both, but I think listening only to the English ones, you'd be missing out... It doesn't help that I don't think the English vocalists match the characters either, but that doesn't matter for the purpose of listening... Maybe as an anime music fan you may already be familiar... Macross has a big music focus usually, with it often being a plot point, but if you're into more recent stuff, it might be a little on the older and obscure side for the English speaking audience... Despite being around for some time and having a few series/OVAs/movies... Part of the issue being that I think only Macross, Macross 2 and Macross Plus got proper English releases and Macross 2 wasn't the most popular OVA... I think the Macross: Do you Remember Love movie got a small subtitled release at some point... I got it on VHS somewhere... The original Macross series is probably better known as the first part of Robotech too, which doesn't help lol... Robotech is weird because the company who bought the rights to Macross wanted more episodes to air as a season in the US or whatever, so they stuck two other different anime onto the end of it lol... Maybe you came across Macross Plus some time? That's one of the higher quality ones I think... If I remember correctly, the composer for the Macross Plus soundtrack was the one who did Cowboy Bebop... She did a bunch of cool soundtracks... Anyway, I recommend checking out Macross franchise soundtracks in general, if you haven't checked them out already... I don't know if they'd do well for reaction content, but it would be cool to see if you felt like it lol... There's a bit of a range, so maybe you wouldn't like everything... There have been releases once or twice a decade since maybe 1980... They're typically pop focused, with the singers being like Japanese style Idol type characters mostly (but this includes different decades of that kinda), but then Macross 7 is focused around a rock band... I think the composer for Cowboy Bebop worked on Macross Plus, though I may be mixed up on it... Either way, amazing soundtrack with a variety of cool music... Kinda parts electronic and trancelike, some parts kinda jazzy... Some almost tribal sounding maybe... I don't know how to describe it exactly, but it's great lol... In some ways it reminds me a bit of the Akira soundtrack in places... Akira has such a great, creative soundtrack too... Sorry >_
