You’re so right about their versatility. They grew and expanded their sound and challenged themselves album after album. Sure, there’s some overlap, but they always pushed their soundscapes. Sampling sounds, working on melodies, adding harmonies. Martin Gore is a totally underrated songwriter. Like no one talks about him like they’ll talk about say the Gallagher brothers or Johnny Marr or people they think are great songwriters. Just listen to his variety. Amazing.

Depeche Mode has a very broad catalogue of great songs. Many to choose from especially from the Black Celebration, Music for the Masses and Violator albums

I loved this song very much for 30 years, right now I still listen to DM songs when driving.

I've been a fan of Depeche Mode for over 30 years. You can thank that versatility in sound to Alan Wilder. He worked tirelessly to create an ambience in Depeche Mode's sound that has not been there since he left. Nowadays, their sound is watered down and nothing like it was when Everything Counts came out in 1983. They are one of the greatest bands ever but they have changed drastically in their sound.
