The Humpty Dance is "let the music possess you and flail around doing anything without caring what you look like". It was the direct opposite of the highly sychronized band and audience-participation dances of the 80's, such as shown in Prince and Morris Day music video's of the time. Although they were kind of parodying the movement in the Purple Rain movie as well.

So glad to see you enjoy this. Alternative rap group from Oakland,led by Shock G. Their rap and music was innovative, fun and funky. Fun fact....launched the career of the one and only, Tupac. Tupac later joined up with Digital Underground for his hit "I Get Around ". Check out "DO WAT YOU LIKE" and "Same Song". Good work guys👏👏👏👏

The Way We Swing is the BEST Digital Underground do not over look this song if I remember correctly full version is like 6 minutes so it did not get heavy radio airplay at least not in Houston.

This song was off the chain back in ‘89. It was everywhere. They were my favorite rap group for about three years. This was pre-2Pac. It was HUGE! Shock G had several alias: Humpty Hump, The Piano Man, MC Blowfish.

The video shows it more. The side to side cultures. I've been to these parties like I said much different from the metal/rock scene but we were friends,and enjoyed all of it. Seen it all the underground from Thrash to Punk Headbangers and your black and Hispanic friends played this stuff, two worlds that occasionally bumped into each other in amazement, I'm we shock them to. We still talk once in a bit. But those were the 80"s and early 90"s. Whole different world back then.

Asia & BJ thank you for all the work you put into your channel, two late 80s and early 90 raps I’d highly recommend are “We’re All in the Same Gang” by .W.A., King Tee, Ice-T, MC Hammer, Tone-Loc, etc. AND “Self Destruction” by BDP, Stetsasonic, Kool Moe Dee, MC Lyte, Doug Fresh, Just-Ice, Heavy D, Chuck D

This is one of those old school hip hop songs that is just infectious! I was not a big hip hop kid, but I was obsessed with this video. It was catchy, funny, and you could tell they were HAVING FUN, which makes you want to sing along and dance, no matter what music you were into! Love the Humpty Dance!

There was a commercial a couple of years ago where the actual Humpty Dumpty was in the hospital after falling. He asked one of the nurses "I hear there's a song using my name. Maybe I should take legal action. Do you know it?" The nurse replies "EVERYBODY knows that song!" The commercial ends with the song coming on over the PA & everyone in the hospital starting to dance. GREAT commercial...lol

Ok, I was like 13 when this came out. I was into Public Enemy and NWA, 2 Live Crew (lol). But this was the first "fun time" rap group that I can remember. Although, they were dirty. This is also the group that put Tupac on the scene. RIP. Shock G, the lead (Humpty). 2 years gone now.

This is the rap music that brought us all together as kid's. This is the shit we grew up with. No one gave a Fuck about anything except for dancing and having a good time. I used to sing this at karaoke up until about 4 years ago, stopped goin. But everytime I did. Guess what, it brought everyone together. One of my favorite song's.

Man this song is my jam back in the days when digital underground came out with this they even had there own dance move to this song and people here in NYC were doin it every time this song was being played ...... way back when hip-hop was just making party dance music like lost Boyz , black sheep , Pharcyde , fugees , brand Nubians , digable planets , Pete rock and cl smooth , das efx , Pharoahe monch , naughty by Nature just to name a few ......i would write down how to do the humpty dance but i think it's better to just watch the actual vid of it to get the visuals of it there's a vid on RU-vid that shows how the humpty dance is done

This is just fun Digital Underground. They are actually about Islam and Equal rights. Check out their track "Heartbeat Props" This group is also were 2Pac got his start. You can see him in the video "All around the World Same song" By Digital Underground it's from the movie sound track "Nothing but trouble"

Reminds me of a good times in 1990's... I was in grade 10 I started listening to digital underground music. Check out Da La Soul 3 ft and rising is a great album.
