2pac was a roadie and dancer for Digital Underground, when he was first coming up. Sex Packets was the name of the album this song came from...was a decent album.. In the 90s, you had your Gangsta Rap (NWA, 2Pac, Biggie Ice T etc) Conscious Rap ( Common, Latifah, Boogie Down Productions..even Arrested Development) The Jazz infused..(Tribe Called Quest, Gangstarr,Jungle Brothers etc) Hippie ( De La Soul), Pop rap ( Will Smith, Kid and Play, Salt N Pepa, PM Dawn etc) and your classics rap Big Daddy Kane, Kool Moe Dee and LL Cool J...then there was the underground scene.....Man, it was a good time....
He noticed the difference in 90s rap styles. This is what Special Ed was talking about. Once gangster rap took over this type of Hip Hop died out commercially. Digital Underground was the rap version of Parliament Funkadelic.
Late Eighty's early ninety's Hip Hop was about Fun, dance, attention, Creativity. And difference, no one sounded like the other. Every artist was independent from the other. This is Hip Hop. Only thing from the culture they do now is Rap which isn't the same. Rap is just a part of Hip Hop.
Oh you brought back memories! I love this song. This song was everywhere and people were quoting/singing this song like crazy. If you find them, check out 2 Live Crew. They were raunchy dirty rap. We are talking a lot of edits. Music became stale and useless in the late 90s and worst in the 2000’s. Ugh! I still can’t listen to music of today. I find myself drifting over to the UK and Ireland for music or going back to the classic stuff. I’ve rediscovered the Doobie Brothers (Black Water) and the Eagles (Hotel Cali). Even older stuff like Nat King Cole, Cab Calloway (Minnie the Moocher), and Dean Martin. Then I’ve dived deeper into my music library with Tori Amos (Raspberry Swirl and Tahula), Fiona Apple (Fast If You Can), Nine Inch Nails (Trent is my hero… Into the Void, Survivalism, Only), Recoil (Alan Wilder from Depeche Mode is a GOD… Stalker, Faith Healer, Strange Hours, Want, Missing Piece, Luscious Apparatus), and the mother of goth - Siouxsie and the Banshees (Spellbound, Slow Dive, Dazzle, Cities in Dust, Dear Prudence, Peekaboo, Killing Jar, Face to Face, Sick Child, Rapture). Music just sucks right now. We need to get rid of auto tune, digitally made artists, put money back into school music programs, and don’t get me started on sexism in music. I can’t stand seeing women being degraded in skimpy clothes and wearing no clothes in videos. It’s gross and unacceptable. I can’t stand it.
This is 1990 the late rapper is Shock G he past away back in 4/22/2021 his alter ego Mr. Humpty Hump he has twin brother that was part of his group. If you didn’t notice him he was on the stage funny you mention Tupac shock g put pac on part of his crew. R&B and Rap.combination started back in the 80s. By the time 2000’s I feel Rap music became so saturated with featured artists on songs. 70s 80s 90s was the most diverse in rap music because back then it was a crime to bite others rappers. You had to come with your own style now these days with mumble & trap rappers you can’t tell Who is who. They’re all sound the same like any genre of music no style
This is what a great creative rapper style is about. Beauty boys are similar as they tried different styles and had fun with it. This is the rap that is fun and can stand the test of time.
The song is hype, but it's a video. It's not live. It's the studio track. The crowd is what you call extras. The song did make you move. Before 2 Pac went solo, he toured with this group. He's in this video.
During the early days of " hip hop" or " rap," the genre was still fresh and the major labels have yet to destroy the creativity. One of the funnier rappers Biz Markie, check his video just a friend! It was so funny, even MTV broke from their regular program to play it!
