Dimash is a 29-year-old Kazakh vocalist and composer; He speaks Kasakh, Russian and English and is learning Mandarin Chinese. He sings in more than 14 languages, plays 7 musical instruments. He graduated from the Kazakhstan University of Arts with a master's degree in composition and would be completing a doctorate in musicology. He also dances, acts and is an advertising model (he is 6.3 feet tall). He has received countless awards and honors around the world. He was in Los Angeles, USA, working on his new material that his fans (he affectionately calls us "dears") . He is a kind, polite and compassionate person, proud of his culture and his country. He is known as the "best singer in the world."
He is so awesome, isn’t he? Stranger is one of my absolute favorite songs. I get goosebumps every time I hear it. I’m a real fan of movies that have such a mystical or oriental atmosphere. And it was such a great idea by Dimash to use the Qobyz for that. The Qobyz is a very old two stringed Kazakh folk instrument and it’s wide spread among Kazakhs. The man who often is playing the kobyz in Dimash’s performance (also here in Stranger) is the best on this instrument and a good friend of Dimash. His name is Olzhas Qurmanbek. You often can hear this instrument when Dimash sings in his native tongue like Samaltau, Qairan Elim or Òmir Òter. In the end of Stranger he introduced him to the audience and he thanked them. As a Kazakh he speaks Kazakh and Russian fluently. He sang Stranger for the first time at New Wave in Sochi, Russia in 2021. This is an international competition for young artists, founded in 2002 by Igor Krutoy. Dimash sang here as a guest and was also a member of the jury. Igor Krutoy, like so many other masterpieces, wrote this song specifically for Dimash and his incredible vocal range (in this song alone he sings 5 octaves F1-F6 I think). And the last note he held for 20 seconds. The way he switchs so affortlessly between the different registers and octaves in one song is so mesmerizing and unbelievable. As already mentioned, Stranger was written by the famous Russian/Ukrainian composer, producer and songwriter Igor Krutoy. His and Dimash's collaboration created true masterpieces. He writes songs that only Dimash could sing with his vocal range, such as Olimpico, Stranger or Ave Maria. You’ll often see him accompanying Dimash on the piano. If Igor Krutoy is there, the song was also written by him.The two have no contract. Their cooperation is based more on mutual trust. It’s more like a father/son relationship. Please react to Olimpico or also Ogni Pietra from his Arnau concert in 2019 next. In this song he sings in Italian. You can find it on Igor Krutoy‘s Channel. Olimpico is another masterpiece that Igor Krutoy wrote especially for Dimash’s vocal skills. It was written for the 2nd European Games in Minsk, Belarus 2019. And that’s why the lyrics are also very motivating. This song and this performance from this Arnau concert is my absolute favourite🥰 I think this version is the best, because his performance is so intense and breathtaking. The light show, the background dancers. Everything. With this song in this version I always get breathlessness. The way he represents himself on stage, the hand movements. I think he has incredibly beautiful hands🤭(and apparently many cameramen think so too, since many of the camera shots during his performances very often only show his hands. Sometimes it seems as if he is conducting himself. This is really fascinating). And the facial expression, the look. There he looks so commanding😱. In my opinion, this version of Olimpico is one of the most impressive performances ever. If you don't know what the song is about, you'd think he was going to war and is calling his army to a lost battle 😅! It’s absolutely stunning. He is the best singer ever, I’m 72 years old & I’ve listened to a lot of great singers. Dimash outdistanced them all. He’s the only vocalist that I listen to every night & that is after I heard him for the first time in 2017. The others, well, I listened to them once or twice but dont crave them. I love Stranger, not just for the highs and lows but also the fantastic vocal tapistry in the center of the song that so beautifully depicts foriegn men, woman and children as strangers in a new land. Even DIMASH's mother has to recognize when her son is on stage he is a beast of a performer and not the cute son he is at home. She says she often does not recognize him when performing. You will learn that there are many dears that have had their lives impacted greatly by DIMASH and his music. He is often credited for healing some from depression and other life ills, he is sometimes used in therapy sessions to improve moods of patients. Many "dears" have found a new life with DIMASH and his fans are the most loyal for good reasons.

I've been following him since he did SOS in China in 2016-2017 and I never thought I could have a favorite song by him...but, then he did Ikanaide in Japanese for the Tokyo Jazz Festival and it just does something to your soul ❤

Olzhas Qurmanbek plays the kobyz, magnificent performer!! Dimash had the great idea of including this ancient Kazakh instrument in the song composed by Igor Krutoy. (Another of his successes was including a sybyzgy in the cover of "Hello" by L Richie in "I am a Singer", China, 2018). Dimash is a vocal chameleon and a very good arranger. Bravo Dimash!! 💐💐💐💐💐💐💐

You may know this already, but Igor Krutoy is a wonderful retired composer who happened to see Dimash perform. He came out of retirement to write songs for Dimash and has created some amazing pieces for Dimash for which he plays the piano. Stranger, is one of the pieces he composed.
