I ain't even gonna cap, am scrolling and still dying laughing! The look on their faces...the way she hides her expression behind her hand...priceless... but as they like bars when the know what it means they will appreciate it.
The "mommy" part is supposed to make you uncomfortable. It is designed to make you feel angry, because anger is "the sickness." Also Draiman has said that this is not a real family situation, his family was very loving. It is a metaphor for negative societal and government organizations keeping you down through acts or threats of violence
The “What the hell was that!?!?” Look from people when they get past the mommy part always makes me smile. I’m sure I did the same my first time on that song
Sickness is a tough one to start Disturbed with if you haven't really heard them. If you are up for another try, I would suggest Stricken or Stupify or Prayer.
David has used the "mother" concept of society beating its children into compliance in a number of songs, so, the "mother society" idea in this song isn't just an attempt to be more socially acceptable. Check out "A Welcome Burden".
@@cindyshawver9986 In interviews he stated his mother was always a wonderful woman, he was a bad son, but his main issues were with any authority figure like his father teachers ect. He comes from a strict Jewish family and rebelled at a young age, but has returned to his faith and has a great relationship with his family now. Though he was clear there were quite a few years it was not good but that as he says was his rebelling and his drug use.
I LOVE watching reactions to this song!!! Everyone is just bobbing their heads and loving the song and suddenly that part about his mommy comes up and....silence. It's like a deer in the headlights. Everyone just stops and their jaws drop for the rest of the song...TOO FUNNY!!!
Love the girls reaction when it drops and she smiles at the camera! Always rocked to this tune absolute classic 🤘🤘 and the girl is absolutely gorgeous who ever she is.
You're reaction to the mother verse was epic. That part of this song actually hits me harder coming from a home with a physically abusive father, even though the lyrics are supposed to represent society, according to the artist.
I was so glad to see that your reacted to the unedited version...a lot of people have reacted to the version where they cut out the while "no mommy don't do it again" part where he goes off.
I remember when this first came out I played this song on repeat for like an hour to torment my co workers!!good times.I love seeing people enjoy metal 🤘🏻🤘🏻
This was a popular song back in the day without the "mommy" part (the radio edit), but when people react to the uncensored version their reaction is priceless
The Screaming part in question is a tribute to the 1980's Punk band "Suicidal Tendencies" and their song "Institutionalized". You should do a reaction to that song and you'll understand the tribute when you hear that song.
Holy crap that was hilarious. Your faces were priceless. I had to rewatch that part like a dozen times. LMAO It is a great song but some people can't handle that part and they have a censored version where they took only that part out.
...And now you've seen the extremes of Disturbed. The rest of their music fills all the space in between. Say what you will, but that band is not afraid to dig into serious topics. Try "The Vengeful One" and "The Light".
LOL. the look on her face.... FYI: In this song, the "Mother" is a metaphor for society pushing you to be something that you're not until you snap. Check out Liberate by Disturbed.
Priceless faces🤣Awesome! It makes me want to see you react to Korn 'Daddy'. Intense, sad, great song that everyone should hear at least once. A song you'll only want to hear once.
This song is really hard to take until you understand what the lyrics are representing. I would definitely go with Land of Confusion next.....ease you into them a little at a time. I love Disturbed if i am in a mood , or just want to get pumped up.
I loved this song so much, I made it my myspace theme song, as soon as I posted it. 10 minutes later my aunt called me to check if I was okay..😂 I lived in Cali she called me all the way from Seattle...😂 College Life..😂😂😂😂😂😂😊🤙💖🇵🇼.
Bacon buns! Lol! This song was very popular when I was in high school. Seemed like all the rock radio stations played it twelve times a day. One time I picked up my then gf from her soccer practice while listening to it. She got into my car right when the "mommy" part started. She was immediately offended and shouted "What the hell are you listening to?!" I spent the next 20 minutes explaining to her it's not something I usually listen to. She dumped me a week later. I moved on. Good times, good times. Lol
The crazy mommy part always takes people be surprise. So.etimes I forget it's in there because it's not in the single version and I'm like damn. Lol this song goes crazy though
The lead singer, David Draiman, says about the breakdown "I’m really talking about the conflict between the mother culture of society, who’s beating down the child yearning for independence and individuality, and the submission of the child. The tragic part is just how that little section ends up making my poor, sweet mother feel," he told Billboard in 2020. "It's not like my mom actually beat the hell out of me when I was a kid. The whole thing is an analogy, and a lot of people have used it as a direct interpretation for their own cathartic purposes, and so be it. I love that, but it's not what I wrote it as."
You might have preferred the other mv that is filmed live at a show and has lyrics (without the 'mommy' verse, even though it's NOT about his mom). My favorite is 'Stricken'....great guitar solo!!
there is an astonishing cover of this by two girls in which they do all of this including the growls and the abuse part. Violet Orlandi from Brazil and Ai Mori in Russia Cover Disturbed Down with the Sickness. Ai Mori plays the demon and Violet plays the normal person who is being corrupted by the abuse. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ei3IaJDgZGk.html Disturbed's official channel gave this cover a thumbs up!
You reacted to "pisces" by jinjer way back. You should both react to jinjer's "Teacher Teacher". Another great band that you haven't reacted to is Unleash the Archers. You should check out their full band playthrough of "Awakening". Both of these songs are fantastic. Keep up the good work !
The looks on your faces during the "rant"... priceless. Don't worry, he wasn't actually talking about his mother. It was a commentary on society as a whole.
"Thr game" and "Stupify" are other good songs of theirs. They also do a good cover of the song "Shout" by Tears for Fears, but I would check out the original first if you don't alreadyknow it.
Check out Fleetwood Mac’s “Then Play On” album, classic. Tool’s cover of Led Zeppelin’s song “No Quarter” on You Tube. The one with the psychedelic colors. Great cover.
Recklezz face - priceless!!!! Early in the song - you could see he was genuinely feeling it and loving the hard hitting beat. Then like everyone else - it slowly fades and replaced by genuine concern and bewilderment.
It is the way today's society is ,one's who don't see lives in a bubble!..😂👍😎 You two are probably wondering how he went from this song to the peaceful song Sound of silence!...🤣😂 Great review & reaction you two!..👍👍
*FALLING IN REVERSE - ZOMBIFIED* Not only will I guarantee you'll LOVE it but the song relates to so much that's happening in today's world. Please check it out. All of the main reactors have watched it.
The part of the song about his mother is actually not about his literal mother. It’s a metaphor for how society tries to make you conform and that force feels abusive. His rage is him trying to rebel against society trying to make him conform to what they want him to be instead of what he wants to be.
Inside the fire by disturbed is a bit of a tough one because it basically talks about suicide and depression and mental health. I think you should watch the music video. But I gotta warn you the music video may be a little shocking to some people but in the music video they will not shy away from showing some real shit.
This was a song about Abused Kids That don't have a Voice. If they could say something it would be just like this. You Really should watch Disturbed's Video " Hold onto Memories ".
