The reason they rap so slow is because this is real hip hop, their lyrics have meaning and they want you to hear what they are saying. There arent any fillers in their lines.
Dre left NWA to help start Death Row with Suge Knight. He signed Snoop. They made the album The Chronic where they dissed Eazy E especially on the sound Dre Day. Eazy E responded back with this song. It all happened before Tupac even joined Death Row.
I dont understand why everyone now thinks that Pac was on Death Row his whole rap career. And this dude asked if Easy was dissing 3pac just because he said Death Row, as if Pac is the only named associated with the label
2pac wanted to be signed to eazy e's ruthless records before eventually getting signed to death row they both respected each other which is why they never dissed each other
I LOVED the nineties … dudes acted like dudes, women acted like women and we all knew how to treat people or there were consequences. Great time to come up. I’m blessed
I’m sure there are diss tracks today but nobody knows because you can’t understand what they are saying thru all that mumbling and auto tune 😂hip hop has definitely taken a few steps back just the fact that the so called rappers he mentioned he actually thinks is good is just sad
I was SO excited for the new Easy E album to come out, i got it on the day it was released. I ended up liking about 2 songs on it, including this one.. but his whole album "Easy Duz It" ..100% legit
The west coast rappers had a slower flow because the beats were more laid back. There were still rappers in the 90's who had a fast flow like Busta Rhymes.
This will be long but I’m going to break it down for you. NWA was formed in Compton, California and was active from 1987 to 1991. The original members were Arabian Prince, Dr. Dre, Eazy-E, and Ice Cube, then a few months later DJ Yella and MC Ren joined. Group dynamics, Eazy had some cash from dealing dope and he joined forces with Jerry Heller the old white dude who became NWA's manager and Eazy's partner in the record label Ruthless Records. The music for NWA was mainly produced by Dr. Dre and DJ Yella, while The D.O.C., Ice Cube, and MC Ren wrote most of the group's lyrics. Lastly Eazy and Jerry "handled" the business side. So, NWA has an album or two out and is touring across the country to sold out crowds, but the guys are not seeing the money they thought they should. So, Jerry and Eazy present everybody a contract to sign. If they do, they will get a lump sum at signing, and I assume some amount on future sales, but they need to sign now. Cube feels that something is not right, so he gets a professional to review the contract and it turns out they were getting ripped off by Jerry and Eazy, so Cube quits. When he does that, he is instantly at odds with NWA and the disses start soon after. Cube goes on to make some of his best records, write and star in the Friday movies and get mainstream appeal and money. After Cube it only took a minute till Dre split. Dre becomes part of Death Row records makes two incredible albums The Chronic and Doggystyle and introduces the world to Snoop. Death Row is run by Shug Knight and before it self-destructs 2Pac one of Shug Knights artists is part of igniting the east coast west coast beef. Great Diss Track "Hit Em Up". When the smoke clears Pac is dead Biggie is dead half of Death Row is facing Jail. Dre leaves starts Aftermath Records joins forces with Jimmy Iovine at Interscope discovers Eminem, does the Beats by Dre deal with partner Jimmy Iovine. Dre is now a billionaire or very close. Forgot Eazy died of aids in 1996 or 1997, I think. This is not exact but its a fair outline answering most of your questions.
Also adding, when Dre leaves NWA for Death Row, he is still under contract with Ruthless Records/ NWA/Eazy-E. So, everything he put out, he paid a percentage to Eazy-E. That's why Eazy-E mentions that Dre Day, the diss track about Eazy-E, only meant Eazy's payday. So, not only did Death Row make a lot of money off the chronic album, so did Eazy-E.
€azy died March 26 bacc in 1995. 2Pac came around with Ruthless, €azy's label, bacc in 1991-92 on ATL album Black Mafia Life on Cal It What You Want. But €azy had BtNh on its way...so that was enough with 1 Thug Life style. But the real truth about money is not what you hear. JH was a business smart man and so was €azy but they did the whole math and figures was not all about what you see as a young Hungry rapper...there are lot of costs around the "gold" so my opinion is they greediness kill em... R.i.P €azy €
I think eazy died like March of 95. I remember reading it in Jet magazine at the time. Pac probably dropped all eyes on me on Deathrow like end of 95 or very beginning of 96. I know me against the world was still on the charts and murdered fall of 96. which technically you can say Pac had 4 albums on the charts in a 12 month time frame counting Me against the world,, All eyes on me as a double album and Makaveli from 95 to 96
Dre was in WORLD CLASS WRECKING CREW. To me a 1 hit wonder. Michelé sang backup on their one hit TURN OFF THE LIGHTS. That was him in those pix. I can't listen to today's rap. It died for me when Tupac passed.
@@tylerconnelly535 what else is there to say? That hasn't been said already? It's been said since the album was released. If you were around back then. You'd remember. You wouldn't have to bring it up. Like no one else knew.
You know what makes me feel so old now? Bruh said "How did y'all find out this was a big deal (without social media) back then?" Bro, cuz we had TELEVISION! Rap videos were played on TV. They had rap shows six days a week back then! We paid attention. Instagram wasn't even a thought back then. You watched TV, you heard all about these feuds if you were a hip hop fan.
This is indeed a diss track. Eazy went hard with this. You mentioned in your last video that Eazy was in Bone thugs and harmony , he was not in the group , he signed them to his record label and was promoting them. That was Dr Dre in his younger days lol And yea he is dissing snoop dogg in this also. He had no problems with any other NWA members. Reason why Compton is always mentioned is because it was a neighborhood in the LA area known for gang violence and poverty. Dresta is the big guy in the video , BG knockout is the other guy
Dude Easy was the only guy in NWA who was a rolling 60’s crip. Dr. Dre even said an an interview after his falling out with Suge that Easy could have ended Suge with a phone call.
This is a response to *(Dre Day)* featuring *Snoop* who *Eazy* is calling an anorexic rapper. Also says *(Dre Day)* only meant *Eazy* payday because when *Dre* left he was still under contract. So *Eazy* was still getting royalties from whatever *Dre* was producing
He’s talking about Dr Dre, Snoop & Ice Cube. Dre left Eazy’s label, released Dre Day dissing Eazy while Dre was still under contract with Eazy. That’s why Eazy said Dre Day only meant Eazy’s payday cause Eazy was getting paid for that song due to Dre’s contract. This was before 2pac came onto Death Row and before he was even a rapper. 2pac started as a backup dancer for Digital Underground.
Before Pac went to Death Row yeah but he was already rapping by this point. His first album had come out two years prior to this and second album the same year as this.
GenX here, word of mouth and yes mag's. It was a different time back then so when something happened it was printed. Eazy-E was a badass for his time and all the people in the back ground of this video was real G's not paid actors. The hip hop today is nothing compared to the 80's. That's why when someone like EM is showing love to the old school rappers in his songs it's for real.
You would hear on the radio that Icecube left NWA during the celebery gossip part of the morning radio show. They would quote one of them or both on the topic. Then Cube would come out with a solo album to confirm it. Then NWA would come out with 100 miles and running, with a diss on cube. Then cube would put out death certificate with No Vasaline. The Dre would leave the group etc.....
😂 I wouldn’t say that. What I would agree to is that all Gen Z knows is their reality. So more likely we’re not able to appreciate it to the degree you guys were. We grew up seeing different things then you guys and the same goes vice versa.
The character in the blue flannel is a guy *Dre* used in his song *(Dre Day)* to impersonate *Eazy.* So he flipped it on his head & hired the same guy for his video
I mean, as soon as dre day came out everybody knew eazy e was going to come back at him, so as soon as his album came out everybody was already on it… plus back then there was an entire underground mix tape thing going down. The west coast had straight up gangsta shit, the midwest had gangsta boogie etc…a lot of times these mix tapes kept everyone in the hood up to date about beefs and shit.
Back then more video shows on TV existed as well as magazines so you always got the story without social media. I think these days not many rappers have the ability lyrically to end another's career, so why waste time. Back then, a diss track could end your career literally, like nobody wanna rock with you anymore, sales down the whole circumstance.
This was a diss song to Dre & Snoop. Dre's diss song to Eazy had a look a like Eazy. So Eazy got the same dude to come out on this video. Check it out, it's pretty bad ass. Also, if you want a fast pace song, listen to Bone Thugs n Harmony. They are the only group to team with Big, Pac & Eazy.
NWA basically broke up because of how earnings were being shared between members (ie Eazy E, Dr Dre, Ice Cube, MC Ren, DJ Yella and the D.O.C.). Which first resulted in a beef between NWA and Ice Cube (went solo, No More Vaseline). After that Dr Dre and the D.O.C. left NWA (same reason as Ice Cube) and it basically was the end of NWA. He teamed up with Suge knight, the D.O.C. (and others) to form Death Row Records) and signed Snoop Dogg to the label. Dr Dre and Snoop dissed Eazy E (Dre Day). Eazy E teamed up with Dresta Gangsta (big dude in this clip) and BG Knocc Out (young dude in this clip), which resulted in this diss track Real Muthaph*kking Gs, dissing Dr Dre, Snoop Dogg and Death Row Records. Both Dresta and BG were members of the Nutty Blocc Compton Crips. Eazy E was affiliated with Kelly Park Compton Crips. Yes, those pics shown in the clip are Dr Dre when he was in the World Class Wrecking Crew, before NWA. This was all before 2Pac joined Death Row Records. Eazy E started Ruthless Records and was the CEO/owner, when he signed all the members for NWA back in the day. He also signed Bone Thugs N Harmony to Ruthless Records, but he wasn't a member of Bone. He did have some lyrics in Bone track: Foe Tha Love of Money. Eazy E sadly passed away in 1995 because of AIDS related illness. He was called the godfather of gangsta rap by many, because of signing some of the biggest names in the gangsta rap game, when it took of in the late 80s/early 90s. The slow rapping was the way hip hop was back in the day, delivering hard hitting lyrics to a hard beat. This sound and of course Death Row Records sound (and others) was typical West Coast gangsta rap.
If I’m not mistaken, Rhythm D made the beat. (The guy at 2:03) Fun Fact: The guy they chasing is the exact same guy that played Eazy-E in “Dre Day” which is Ezel from the movie “Friday”. And no, Eazy didn’t diss on Tupac. There’s a music video with Eazy and PAC during this time called “Call it what you want” by Above the Law and Digital Underground (2PAC and Money B)
Eazy E was dissing Dr. Dre because Dre made a diss song against Eazy E with Dre Day. Dre was mad at Eazy because of a financial dispute; these financial disputes are why Ice Cube left NWA and the group broke up over time. Eazy planned to make amends with Dre before he passed but never got the chance to. Ice Cube and Eazy squashed their beef before Eazy's passing. Tupac wasn't on Death Row at this time. Tupac and Eazy never had a beef; in fact, Eazy was in one of Tupac's music videos with Digital Underground.
You’d listen to one diss in a friends car smoking a joint. Then the next day you would be in another car listening to another diss. And we would actually definitely decide who to hang out with depending on who the rappers we liked better. It would be like nah I ain’t rolling in that bumpin that shit. KCMO East side.
Watch straight outta Compton it's a little not on point but also on point at the same time some situations but you do your research bro if you listen to old school man there's nothing like it there's nothing like it out there today and it hits you write in the spot dude you can relate to them if you live
As someone who has seen rap progress through it's inception till now I can say no one cares about this new generation of rap. Gen Z. It gets no love. So all the people you mentioned don't really matter. Eazy was replying to the diss track dre layed out. Pac wasn't even in the scene yet he was back up dancing to digital underground. Em, Joyner, Drake. None of them fools were even around yet when this dropped. Em was damn near a whole decade later just to put things in perspective
My generation was Rakim Public Enemy Mantronix Fat Boys Krs One Big Daddy Kane Ice T Run Dmc Dana Dane Slick Rick Doug E Fresh LL Cool J Kool G Rap Too Short NWA and a while later you had Snoop Nas E-40 Biggie 2pac and one of my favorites the OG West Coast Legend Spice 1
@@Falcun21 I forgot a lot of artists but I tried to remember as many as I could as I was writing the comment. I love Dj Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince!!! They brought a different type of style but so did all of the other rappers back in the 80's and early 90's. I loved it cause it was so diversed back in the day.
It was a big deal because Nwa was the voice of west coast rap and ice Cube left over contract disputes,, then Dre left over the same money disputes.. After Dre left Ruthless Records,, Co owned by Eazy E. This song was a response to Dr. Dre & snoop diss on Dre Day. The video had an Eazy E lookalike running around holding a sign like he was a starving artist working for free. That's why Eazy said Dre Day only equal Eazy pay day, because Ruthless records still had contractual rights to Dre and music he put out. when eazy said he Deathrow getting treated like food stamps and follow their sergeants directions. he was basically talking about sure knight. how sure had them scared and did everything sure told them to do. and of course stories floating around about artists getting their ass kicked at the studio. I discovered it being a big deal through the music. wasn't social media and it was at the verge of magazines such as The Source where it was hyped up then exploited in the media by djs. if you listened to The Chronic album by Dre and heard the diss, you pretty much knew who eazy was talking about in response. picture of Dre in sequins was from Dre in the group First class wrecking crew. they had a hit song featured Michelle' called Turn off the lights. cover had Dre in a sequined outfit and lipstick. that's where eazy was talking about going from wearing lipstick to smoking chronic (Dre solo album) at picnics which was a cameo on nothing but a g thang featuring snoop. Gangsta Dresta and BG Knoccout were featured on this song and were beefing with dog pound and had some physical run ins with them. think they jumped nate dog or something. also knocc out was from nutty bloc in Compton (Southside) where you see the dude holding a Southside sign on the cardboard, same set that murdered 2pac. they were calling Dre and snoop studio gangstas because they said they were using gangsta rap stories in the studio, but were nit really from the streets. and Dre claiming Compton, becauseof their notorious reputation, but he was actually from Long Beach
"Civil Court" and "Wild"!?!🤦🏽 They don’t go together at all. That’s what they rappin bout in this song, "studio gangstas". Like most of those rappers u named. People like that watered down what rap once stood for
