Great band. You should listen to "Never Been To Spain", "Mama Told Me (Not To Come)" or "Shambala" as all are classic examples of why these guys were on the radio so much back in the day.

Actually Laura Nyro sang this in 67. Of course Three Dog and company were astonishing in their way of presenting this track.

Their drummer back in the day was a dude named Floyd Sneed who passed away last year. He used to wear pants and suspenders onstage made out of Holiday Inn towels. No shirt. 😂😂😂

Went to one of their concerts in the 70s, loved most all their songs: Shambala, Into My Life, Singer Man, Let Me Serenade You, and Mama Told Me Not To Come were favorites of mine.

I grew up listening to TDN, but I had never heard this live version of "Eli's Coming", so thank you for presenting that. I agree with you that the introduction was outstanding. All three singers have real vocal chops. You don't sustain a note like the second guy did without having had some serious vocal training. You should also look up Laura Nyro, the song's composer, whose work has served as a major influence on many other great songwriters.

I'm 65 loved this group, loved my bell-bottoms and silk shirts. Oh and also platform shoes.

At 13 I received their double album for Christmas. Live at the Forum. I was blown away! That’s an album I wore out. 3 Dog Night was ridiculously talented on harmonizing. Almost up there with The Bee Gees ❤

Saw them live in 1996. They were just as good. Met them also. No bad songs. Great guys.

I grew up in that era, in fact I was 23 in 1975. In that time frame we didn’t get to see our favorite groups perform unless we had the money for tickets to a concert that might be in town. We got to see rare performances on tv which were few and far between and very controlled. I would have loved the internet back then. I didn’t realize how super talented 3 Dog Night was until I saw this live performance. Live performances definitely showcased how truly talented they were. I am obsessed with live performances now, because I rarely got to see them during that time.

Notice the audience are taking it all in, no one screaming or rushing the stage. When you hear and feel the music.

From 1969 yo 1974 no band sold more concert tickets or albums than 3DN. They were the first band to command and get 6 figures for a concert tickets. I'm a child of the 60s born in 1952 all the music you're listening to was the music of my life. I had an LP collection of over 500 albums all of them are my favorite and still I didn't have all the music I wanted from the 60s and 70s and early 80s

OK... I was lucky. I worked for a big tech company back in the 90's and for a great product release (a computer motherboard) that our 100+ people group knocked out of the park, the company put on a big dinner & dance to thank us. We all expected chicken or ribs for dinner and a DJ for the dance, but instead it was a sit down multi-course meal and surprised us with several hours of Three Dog Night live right beside the dance floor. My wife and I had one of the best times of our life! 'Listen to the Music', 'Mama Told Me not to Come', 'An Old Fashion Love Song', 'Never Been to Spain', 'Joy to the World', 'Try a Little Tenderness' and 'Black and White' are some of their best that we all got up and danced to on that very crowded dance floor. 😁🥰

Three Dog Night was the first concert I ever went to at 11 years old in 1969. As decent as this live version is, you owe it to yourself to spend the 2 minutes and 47 seconds it would take to listen to the original single. They were a singles machine from 69-74. One, Celebrate, One Man Band, Mama Told Me Not to Come, Joy To The World, Easy To Be Hard . It just went on and on.

This was taped in 1975, when I was still free and had the right moves!!! Even getting up on the stage with our local band when they played Wilson Pickett’s Land of 1,000 dances. I’m 78 now and have such wonderful memories of the music of my time of life.

People have mentioned that Laura Nyro wrote this song and have mentioned other Three Dog Night songs that were big hits. The other songs mentioned were written by Randy Newman, Paul Williams, and Hoyt Axton, to name a few. If you don't know those names, you should, and Laura Nyro originals would be great for reactions as well. They're all immensely talented songwriters and singers.

Three Dog Night were amazing 3 great singers ,they dominated the 70's. The name three dog night was taken from an Indian term for a very cold night ,so you had 3 dogs to sleep with you.

Three Dog Night and this song was one of my first time hearing Rock n' Roll on the radio and I absolutely fell in love with the song and the band in 1968. Still one of my all-time favorite Rock band and my No. 1 "Blue-Eyed Soul" band!!!! I have seen them in concert 4 times and they are AMAZING in concert!!!!

Oh, this was the Trippin' Version of this song! I saw Three Dog Night live twice in 1971 and 1972. Both times, the song started with the words "Eli's Coming"... the trippy intro came later, and they were just playing with the audience. They did put on a great show, without a doubt. They were my favorite band to see in concert. They have a boatload of great music.

I am in my 70s. I experience the most fantastic music in history. Saw Three Dog Night as well as many others in concert. An awesome time loved concert just have recently stopped going to mobility. Have experienced many wonderful times. First concert was Jimi Hendericks and the Animals open for him. Had Breakfast with Greg Almond and band after concert. And no I was not a "GROUPIE" . Seen all the Journey tours as well as the Eagles, Jefferson Airplane and Jefferson Starship. What memories. Enjoy the music!

Pay homage to the Woman who wrote this, Laura Nyro. Please listen to her. She was a super successful songwriter in the 1960s, writing many popular hits like Stoned Soul Picnic, Wedding Bell Blues, And When I Die, Save The Country and this one. She performed in the '60s but didn't like the fame; she was a millionaire at 21 from songwriting and continued to write. Unfortunately, Laura died much too young from breast cancer like her mother; she has an amazing voice, too; check her out. You will be amazed. Eli and the 13th Confession is one of her masterpieces.I named my firstborn child Elijah because of this song.

Hiya Polo Reacts. I saw Three Dog Night on Sept 29, 1970 at Notre Dame University's Athletic and Convocation Center. I invited my two younger brothers to the concert. It was a first for them to see a rock concert. We always talked about it over the years and how magnificent it was and how much fun we had. The eldest of the brothers joined the Navy and saw the end of Vietnam on an aircraft carrier. Sadly he died from cancer (due to unknown and unmarked substances in some of the metal drums he moved during his tour) on Sept 22, 2019...49 years after the concert. And here you introduce Three Dog Night to new generations over one half century later after the ND concert. Thank you SO much for the memories your reaction brought me. I will forward your reaction to my other two siblings. They'll get a kick out of it. Cheers!

In the late 60's Las Vegas finally started to let rock groups perform there. They would play at the Ice Palace, a ice skating rink. Three Dog Night was one of the first ones to play there. Saw them in 1967 or 68. I can't really remember exactly. LOL!!
