For a song sung by the greatest male singer to ever step on stage, a song that was done 40 years ago. It still has that Bam, It gets you right in the heart. Especially when he says, "Hush little baby, don't you cry, you know your daddy's about to die. It really makes you wonder if he knew that he didn't have many years left..
Before Elvis there was nothing ,The Icon the legend, untouchable. Elvis Aaron Presley is the King of music, Greatest of all time, 1935- until the end of time.
@@memphisrocks1 I love elvis but before him the very nice music lived let' s be serious . Sometimes lennon said anything and nothing in the same time
I know that is an old saying but I only wanted to be his daughter. The only 3 females he really loved were his mama, daughter, and grandma Dodger. Besides his female relatives.
Screw those Hall of fame Boys ....... As I do not need someone to tell me what I like or not ...... In my mind ..... Elvis won every trophy ..... Every anything that he did on stage ...... With Music ....... And he was great in his Movies ..... PERIOD ..... Elvis won it all ...... If it were really fair ..... However we know that their are still LOTS of people jealous of Elvis ..... That makes it so unfair ..... STILL ...... If you catch my drift ...... No Brag ..... Just Fact .....
Waking up that morning all those years ago to my mother , auntie and 5 teenage girl cousins crying their eyes out in the kitchen is a morning this guy has never forgotten , it truly sent Australia into mourning when the King died.
Not every single person on the planet knows about Elvis. #1 - they are young, they did not grow up "in his time" #2 - they may have been involved in other types of music & did not venture to different formats #3 - maybe no one in the house where they grew up played Elvis or had any interest in Elvis. If the parent of a young child listens to Elvis that child will be exposed to him & have knowledge of him, otherwise, all they may know is what they & their friends are involved in that does not include Elvis in any way.
I think Elvis Presley would have succeeded at one or a gospel singer or a rock and roll singer the Lord knew exactly what he was doing when he created Elvis 👍💯
He excelled at everything he did! Created a revolution in music, promoted to Sgt. with only 2 years in the Army, all of his movies made money, historic television specials, sold out every live performance up until the end..oh, by the way. How many records did he sell?
The story behind this song is amazing. It was originally written with a confederate song at the beginning, slave lullaby in the middle and union song at the end, Elvis added the extra union portion at the end to highlight the union’s win over the south and the newfound freedom of all American slaves
When my mother passed away in 2019 I had this played at her funeral. Like many women of her generation she loved Elvis. She talked about this song like it was her favorite. I felt very proud that on her send off to heaven I had this played for her. I think of her whenever I hear it. Thank you all for listening to it.
Two pretty ladies, you should see his duet, where his daughter injects her voice into some of his songs. Obviously she was 9 when he died, but it is a seamless mix of their beautiful voices. She had a successful singing career of her own with 3 gold albums. Watch "In the Ghetto", with Lisa, also "Where No One Stands Alone", "Don't Cry Daddy".. Thanks for your wonderful reaction.
I enjoy watching people's reactions to this song, it is one of my favs of his. For years I have been saying if there is a heaven I would love to be EP's backup singer there and sing this song to the Lord with E. He has been gone for almost 50 years and he still holds the record for selling the most records of any rock and roll artist. I wish he was here to see how much he is still loved as one of his greatest fears that people would forget about him. I have been a fan for almost 60 years now. It was love at first sight, lol, truly.
Song was about end of slavery in U.S. In 1973 it was 1st concert broadcast around world by satellite. Reports estimated concert was seen by 1.5 billion people in 36 countries. Trilogy combines 3 songs together-“Dixie” (anthem of Confederate South during Civil War), "Battle Hymn Of The Republic" (anthem of Union North during Civil War to end slavery), & “All My Trials, Lord” (spiritual shows no matter how bleak situation seems, struggle will soon be over). All 3 songs have a lot of verses. “Battle Hymn Of The Republic” is American patriotic song written by abolitionist Julia Ward Howe in 1861 during Civil War. After she heard Union troops singing “John Brown's Body,” she was encouraged to rewrite lyrics for song & use original tune. One verse of hymn says “let us live to make men free”-fight to end slavery. Howe's words angered southerners & Northern Union troops were frequently heard singing it.
I can remember as a teenager this song being played when the the television station signed off at midnight in Shreveport. Of course everything is 24 hours now
You have just witnessed THE GREATEST ENTERTAINER OF ALL TIME!!!!!! The smooth powerful angelic voice the heart and soul in every word and movement the passion, emotion and charisma like no other. Elvis had it all best looking man to walk the earth, his magic filled the air and his smile was hypnotizing like a God among men. NO AUTO TUNE NO PITCH CORRECTION just pure PERFECTION!! When Elvis sang you could feel it he touched you deep in your soul. Elvis gave his all to his fans as he truly loved his fans, Elvis could sing the phone book and make it great. Elvis was a gift to us all from God Himself. The KING will LIVE ON FOREVER!!!!!!!!!!!!
Don't loose hope he migth be still alive fake his death to get far far away from Hollywood thank guys for good reactions, comeback soon Elvis Bob Joyce Presley we❤ n miss all this years😭😭🇺🇲🇺🇲
...his 3 grammy awards WERE FOR gospel music...several multi-million selling gospel albums. want to see his 1968 Comeback special...watch TRYING TO GET TO YOU...or, MEMORIES....plenty to choose from as he recorded over 700 songs!
There are two versions of this song from this concert. The other is from the rehearsal. Both are fine but I think I like the rehearsal version a little better.
Those songs are Civil War era songs (1860 - 1865) so I think it still resonates mainly with former Confederate states in the southern USA. When Elvis sings, "You know your daddy's bound to die..." He was just singing about how a lot of southern men would most likely die once they went to war against the northern troops. It was just a fact that it was a bloody war with a lot of death on both sides but the south had a smaller population and so they felt it more.
I love the gospel side of Elvis Presley. My favourite songs of Elvis Presley are. “Without Him” “I’ve Got Confidence” “He is My Everything” “Stand By Me” written by Rev. Charles Albert Tindley “His Hand In Mine” and “Known Only to Him”.
@@ROYALTEHILLAHTVREACT That is something I don’t understand. But it doesn’t mean you can’t hold of these soul soaking songs. Whenever is hear Elvis Presley or Johnny Cash sing gospel my soul gets a drenching through His Holy Spirit. Elvis Presley singing “Without Him” exemplifies my life. That song is my personal mission statement. My favourite song of Johnny Cash is “Man in White”.
Jesus was and always will be king. Elvis was and will always be my favorite singer. Younger Elvis my favorite. I don't believe there will ever be a person who exemplifies the singing to the world like he could. Drugs took his light away quickly. I wish I could have saved him.
He was my friend of 10 years. up until his death. How we met is a long story it only mattered to us no one else. I visit Graceland everyday they know me there. I get hey girl what's up i walk the grounds and visit with my friend it may be stupid to all of you that didn't know him on a personal level but i did. We will always have a connection death never kills love. i will love and miss my friend forever. We had a short conversation a few weeks before his death there were a lot of tears E. tried to comfort me he said kiddo everything will be okay but nothing will ever be okay again without my friend. If you ever get the chance to visit Graceland you should you will not be disappointed. Great reaction love to you and your family from the one and only Memphis Tn.
@@ROYALTEHILLAHTVREACT After Elvis Presley died on August 16, 1977, the African American newspaper, the Chicago Defender explained that: “When Elvis Presley breathed his last breath and the press hailed him as the ‘King of Rock,’ Ol’ Man River cried out, ‘Naw he ain’t! My friend Chuck Berry is the King of Rock. Presley was merely a Prince who profited from the royal talent of a sovereign ruler vested with tremendous creativity. Thank you for this, but your voice is very difficult to understand -- the sound is very muffled. The meaning of this song: a medley of three uniquely American pieces: “Dixie,” (dixie means the states down south in the U.S.); “Battle Hymn of the Republic,” a marching hymn of the Union Army during the American Civil War; and “All My Trials,” a Bahamian lullaby related to African American spirituals sung by protesting folksingers of the 1950s.
Such a classic song, I been an elvis fan since I can remember, I was 5 when he died & still remember my mum being upset as she was a huge fan..but can I just say that I didn’t like the fact that the elvis video you put up was transparent, I’d of liked to of seen it clearer

@@bwana-ma-coo-bah425 yes it was. Elvis is from the South. Elvis was born in Tupelo Mississippi, lived in Memphis Tennessee. He was very much a Southern man. He did grow up very very poor, and didn't seem to have the prejudices that came with being from the South though.
@@bwana-ma-coo-bah425 You can't lump all Southern born people into a prejudice group. The rich landowners were the ones who wanted to keep slavery. Not everyone owned slaves or even approved of it. You had to rich to own land and plantation.
@@sandyshoenberger2697 must have been difficult for his mother picking cotton with Elvis on her back. Being white poor is different to being black poor. so southern men leave girls they just plooked at a hospital to get a douche and then drive away leaving the girl there on her own?
