Eminem is kind of a genius for having three different characters/personalities to portray/rap as (Marshall Mathers, Eminem, and slim Shady). That way he can try/get away with some crazy shit and just be like, "nah that's Slim Shady not me.". I've seen so many rappers who get locked into one sound or style of rap so when they try something new there is backlash, next thing you know they are has beens because they were stuck doing the same thing but at the same time you can't really stay popular unless you do new shit or innovate. Its like they get pigeon holed into it by their own fans then slowly fade away because they aren't attracting new fans and the old fans eventually get bored of them.

Eminem had an ongoing beef with Reeves and mentions him a lot on records (mostly making fun of him for being in a wheelchair)- "Slim for pete sakes, put down Christopher Reeves legs"! 😂

My personal favorite song by him. It wasn't the comically violent Slim. It wasn't Eminem, the diehard hip hop head with something to prove. It was Marshall, just Marshall, speaking on some personal shit. I'm not sure, but I think it was the first serious introspection on his fame and the backlash that came with it that was publicized. He'd dropped lines about it before, sure, but never in this context. It was sort of a "sit down, let me talk with you" moment. Amazing flow and instrumental to boot.

This is the Eminem I was such a huge fan of. Not in the fact of him dissing people.
