Yeah, a 4 out of 10 maybe. I was thinking a 2. As usual, Em&Em messed up the entire song with those wack af hook versus. This entire song is wack af and even the Dre beat is wack af. Who requested this?
Em wrote this when he was suicidal. It was way before he was successful. You can feel the anger in his voice. A legendary song written by an angry young man who didn't know how he was going to feed his daughter. Now look at what he became.
Ive been listening to eminem for 18 years, since i was about 10 so i can see how someone might put this at 4 and not afraid at 20. Its not that not afraid isnt gold its that em has put out so much that there's plenty even better. Crazy thing about this track is that if im not mistaken, em was working at a fast food place and on his first day got fired. He went home that night and wrote this banger. This was back when eminem was literally HUNGRY and you can hear it
exactly 100 % we brazilian can relate to him because he was as poor as we are... we are not rich like you americans are... Eminem has most hits of all time from all musicians that ever lived... his list of hits is really infinite... i mean you can listen to him your whole life and you will NEVER know all his super hits he wrote. the guy is different. but we know he did the contract with the devil and will never get the respect he deserves. i mean he is not human as a rapper, he is like an alien and i think the devil helps him to be so good. it is not possible for a human to rap like he does. i mean did you ever listen to the song with joyner lucas!? i speaking Eminem feat Joyner Lucas - lucky you (video is shit but the song is unnormal)
The first 3 albums are all better than the rest but if u weren't around and just had Eminem's whole 20 year catalog of music dropped on u it probably seems like the old stuff ain't as good, it's like kids that played their first Mario game on the Switch, they probably aren't gonna like the NES and SNES Mario as much
@@michaelb3581 I've been an Eminem fan since the first time I heard HI My Name is on the Radio and I don't think Not Afraid is lame, I get what ur saying tho
@Ross Robertson my first em song was without me back in 04. I agree. I loved not afraid. But i also love everything from the beginning to the new. Its important to not fall into that mess of old em vs new em. Different times, different styles, different state of mind.
Terrific example of multisyllabic rhyme scheming with using inner syllables as well. It’s almost like ASMR how precise it’s put together and how good it sounds.
This is one of his tracks that is highly praised not only for the emotion but the impact of Eminem to the mainstream world at the time. You guys were probably pretty young but his first few mainstream projects were just giant magnets for all types of attention. But yeah, this is early rough and raw Eminem. Banger. Shout out from Alexandria
This song hits different when you've been struggling financially, when there are no jobs and you can't afford food ...I sometimes thing this is the song of my generation.. we millennials have it hard and can relate.. maybe that's why we rank it so high.. it's definitely in my top 5 eminem songs out there.
I dont think people could actually name 15 better Em songs than this. This song is for sure top 5. His flow, the beat, the meaning, the hook is crazy. Everything on this song is GOLD. This not being top 15 is crazy.
LP = “Long Play” It’s synonymous with album, the “long” being the opposite of a single, which traditionally had two songs, i.e. short. Anyway, this is one of Em’s greatest deeper cuts. He was truly at his wits’ end and strongly considering giving up around this point, then was signed by Dre shortly after recording it.
Its semantics, but sp is standard play. Lp is long play and ep is extended play. It is from the old album rotation and "45" records. But sp is, like ya said, usually the 1 or 2 songs, singles were released like this. I Remember when I was a kid and bought a busta rhymes single, was so hyped cause I only had a few bucks and found this CD at sam goody and it was so cheap. Didnt read it all, never had seen an SP cd, and man I was disappointed. But I wore that disc out
This is my All Time favorite Eminem song. I was listening to this when I was about 10yrs old(I'm 33 now). It's the only CD I've ever bought in my life. It reminds me that it's not so bad. Makes me laugh sometimes, and makes me cry sometimes.
I've commented a few times cause you young men for real give me hope for the next generation. This is from 1999. That's before the 9-11. Things was different. This is what broke people rocked to cause it hit us in the feels. This, Tupac, Big, that late 90s early 2000s was different. Ok this is long enough, thank yall for what you do it keeps my PTSD from 21 years in the military at bay. Keep doing it and congrats in your success
Easily my favorite Eminem song as a father of 4 beautiful girls that was homeless when my first daughter was born and doing anything I could to provide(many of which I'm not proud of) for my now wife and family it just hits at a level no other song or artist had/has. The emotion and hunger in his voice and the rawness and honesty in this song 🤌
Waiting on yall to do a two parter for Kim followed by 97 Bonnie and Clyde. One of the best rhyme schemes he's ever done is Business ft Dre. Absolutely eats the beat with such fluidity and smoothness. As far as inspirational music he's done like Not Afraid, Till I Collapse and others I'd have to put Sing For The Moment up there with them.
Eminem has a song called You're Never Over on the end of Recovery. It's a song about his friend proof who was shot and killed, and Em explains a bit about his personal life around that time. Great song. VERY emotional.
Sooo many awesome tracks from this album that I can still sing word for word. You’ll def want to check out a lot more, and remember, this album was what launched his career
As a 42 yo I’ve been listening to Eminem since 1998 when I was in high school…the Slim Shady LP always hits different because that’s where I started with Em. Doesn’t matter what songs anyone thinks are his best, as long as they are appreciating this man’s intellect and creativity. On a less serious note, would love to see y’all react to “Berzerk”. Pretty sure it’s the one and only time you’ll see Rick Rubin in a music video…he only did it because Em asked him to 👍
This is number one for me. So many Em tracks are strictly about lyrics. This is so relatable for people from the struggle. That is not a common thread in his music. This song is a little more simple lyrically but, the content is through the roof. Love this song to death.
This song hit hard when I was at my lowest , fresh out of jail a kid on the way , no job living in a homeless shelter with my pregnant gf ! I still get goosebumps 17 years later
This song will always be a top 3 Em song to me. You have to look at a musical track record that long through the lens of time. Taking this song back to 99 when it was released and I was a senior in HS...as a white dude with no "real" major white rapper and being a life-long hip hop fan this was AMAZING to me. Finally a rapper that I could relate to and not feel like I'm fronting when I'm vibing and relating to his lyrics.
Fav song of all time and one of the songs I relate to. Everyone can. Its a struggle song and I appreciate it. Struggled with my mental condition. Struggled on the streets. Been there, done a lot. So listening to this song again makes me appreciate my life more and Em is winning for himself and his daughter
You can’t put this man in a list of best songs. 95% of his material is top 10 Em material. And this song might not be his hardest or most skilled lyricism, but you can feel the emotion so strong in this song.
There are so many sides of Em…you’d have to do a top 10 slim shady, top 10 Emenim, top 10 Marshall…. Recovery is when he really started with all the doubles and triple entendres… all albums before that were just raw emotion and story telling
This song will always have a special place in my heart so many sad sleepless nights, and just put on the song on helps see life in a different perspective when you are in rock bottom
Brandon coming through with the almost knowledge again. LP stands for Long Play. Which is an album. As opposed to Extended Play, which was traditionally a smaller record with fewer tracks on it. The Slim Shady LP is a legendary record. Not a playlist or a mixtape.
been listening to Em since slim shady lp, which was jr high days for me, and Rock Bottom has been my number one Eminem song since then and still is. This song has gotten me through some really bad times and really shitty nights. God bless Eminem, his music has always been medicine to me.
This is definitely a Top 5 Em song for me. It’s too real. These are issues that faced by thousands every day. I’m lucky with the situation I was born into but that doesn’t make this song hit any less. Em was spitting nothing but facts on this track
Easily Top 5 Eminem song. I got his top 5. This is a banger on every level. Especially if you ever felt the magnitude of that type of pressure. It’s an anthem for people at their lowest moment because we all have those dark thoughts when things get tough. So for the sheer relatability it’s easily top 5 most impactful songs he’s ever done.
This is my favorite eminem song ever. This is what hip hop is about, putting your emotions, what you're going through, and he says it in ways other's can't. His flow insane.
This song isn't as crazy fast and complex as his newer stuff. It's great because it's off his first album before he blew up and you can feel his struggle trying to survive. The whole album is awesome, especially because it introduced the world to Shady back in 99. Love your reaction vids, doing a great job, not just bar hunting but all around!
Born in '81...42 years old...been listening to Em since he first dropped and this is absolutely in my Top 5 Em songs FOR SURE. I have this on my workout playlist...this song is so raw and relatable and taking it out on the weights is better than "...runnin up on someone lawn with guuuns drawnnn..." 😂
When I was young, living on my own in the Bronx, there were those days when I woke up needing to make a choice: go to work that day, or eat. Some days I chose to go to work. Other days I chose to eat. That's why this is in my personal Top 5 Eminem songs, and I won't object to it being listed at #4. Dreams and aspirations are fuel to the soul. But sometimes the future, even a potential one, must take a backseat to the reality of the moment and the basic needs of survival. I was lucky to find a small but tightknit group who lifted each other up, who have remained my life long friends to this day.
Thinking Not Afraid should be ranked higher than Rock Bottom is insane lol. Not Afraid was basically a dumbed down song that Em did to try win favor in the mainstream. The rhyme scheme was simple, he was doing these terrible Young Money style punchlines and why was he singing
This is my favorite song from Em. You can tell he was hungry and oretty muc down and out. If he never made it and this was the last we heard from him, oh man. No cartoony imagery, celebrity disses or corny wordplay, just straight to the point frustration and real talk.
I think its old people like me who grew up when this came out. The song blew us away back then snd that feeling doesnt just go away because he makes more shit later. This song will always be top 4 to me
Been listening to this since i was 14, I’m 42 now 😂… when I tell you when Eminem came out- he put ALL OF HIP HOP ON NOTICE!!! Consistently dropped lyrical masterpieces since then. Imo the only folks who come close to his talent are from his era.
Imagine if Marshall had tha same hunger and idgaf attitude like EMINEM or SLIM SHADY They made him tha G.O.A.T. he is today 🤘🏼 legendary!!!! Untouchable in too many ways 💯
y0 do me ( and y’all ) a huge favor. Peep out “tell you like this” by Snow tha product. It will be tha beginning of a whole new view of incredible ! No one Except a few ( obvious )goats that will also agree this GOAT’d artist stands alone Just like Marshall. You won’t be disappointed. They Underrated and low key but trust me literally not a single artist goes like this… get them extinguishers ready!
One of the best things that make eminem one of a kind. everyone has their own top 10 & they usually are very different but it depends on how that song hits for that person. Some like a story, some like a beat, some like a rhyme scheme, etc. . . He can do it all, a true master of the art
I worked in radio when Eminem show came out. I definitely listen to his first couple of albums on the low from my parents 😆 you guys definitely need to hear his first two from start to finish. They are crazy. From some of the best lyrics to some of the darkest parts of his life, his emotions in his songs are on display. I really think that's what hit home for most of us youngster back them. He came out and said things with no filter. Dark, cool, collective, dangerous, an Einstein of rap, hip hop, poetry, and no fucks given.
what I love about this channel is you guys mostly reacted to middle career eminem ... where he fell off disappeared and came back. The beginning Eminem was what put him on the map, and all the radio freestyles he did before Dre signed him. It shows how good his career went when people can debate which song was better after 20 years of recording music +
This is the song that truly made me a Em fan. In 99 when he hit "my name is" didn't do it for me.."guilty conscience " was dope...but still wasn't fully sold...went ahead and listened to the whole album and shit was fire...but this track was a def stand out.. the rest is history from there..
I like this song because he wrote this before Dre even knew who he was. This was the struggling version of Em and it hits with many people including me
I’ve been waiting for u guys to get to this song!! Love ur Eminem reactions & u gotta check out Harry Mack Omegle Bars 79 & his new video that’s out w/BeardyMan u guys will love it ❤❤
This is one my personal faves, in high school my uncle passed and he had a life that was somewhat like this song, this helped a bit getting through that time
This came out my senior year in HS, bumped this album constantly out my Acura Integra back then. Early Em is by far my favorite, i even had all his freestyles on an MP3 that i could hook up to my car stereo. This is why NOBODY wanted to battle Em, he is devastating
I just found you guys tonight and have been watching for an hour. You guys do a lot of Eminem songs, but you haven't done "As the world turns" off his first album. His rhymes are insane. You guys should do that next, possibly better than Rock Bottom
Probably top 3 for me. But this was raw uncensored em and what he was feeling then before he made it big. I think at the time it came out it was more relatable to people then. His first two albums with a couple exceptions would probably be my top 20 em songs.
Y’all became one of my favorite reaction channels for Eminem songs along with Shaq. Can you guys please react to Legacy by Eminem? I don’t want to ruin how fire the last verse is but the song is really inspirational and he raps about overcoming his problems when he was young
Wish you could do an album review because he was making a musical experience with each new one coming out. There are bangers that outshine, but each was set up so great to line up in order for more of a story
Em first 3 albums are classic. So yes you going to see Not Afraid and a lot of the singles that come from his 4 album on lower in most best of Em list.
Been through the whole em discography and this my top 10. 1. Lose yourself 2. Sing for the moment 3. 8 mile road 4. Stan 5. The way I am 6. Rock bottom 7. Till I collapse 8. Hailie's song 9. Say goodbye to hollywood 10. No love
