I was 17 when Appetite was released. I was 21 when Illusion 1&2 were released. GnR was such a significant part of my youth. They were the biggest band on earth. Part of me is glad that their dominance was short-lived. I liken them to The Doors. In a very short period of time, they were so important and impactful. This song is their masterpiece, IMO. 🤘🔥
9:13 This band is magic and to me, they’ve always been musical calculus. An abstract equation making multi-dimensional music from a 2d base. The rare occurrence in music when the sum becomes greater than the whole of the parts. Magnetism, engage.
The 9 minute Slash solo song... He plays a lot and things don't repeat all that much. This is about being left behind and the emptiness you feel when your significant other is suddenly no longer with you... All these emotions and feelings rush over you like wave after wave and it is easy to get lost in that ocean.
GNR Was The Biggest Rock Band in Late 80'S, GNR Won The MTV Video Music Award (VMA), Since 1989,1990,1992,1993. Beating U2 Albums, Metallica Albums, And Nirvana Albums in The MTV Music Video Award. Then GNR Vacuum in The Middle Of 1993, Then Came The Famous Alternative Bands, Such As: Nirvana, Pearl jam, And SmashingPumpkins. One of my favorite GNR songs, unfortunately never got to see them live in their rather short prime, when they were arguably the biggest band on the planet. Did get to see them years later in 2006 (well, Axl and another band....), and more recently saw a TV registration from Glastonbury, sadly they didn't age well. But looking at the raw energy of this performance, they just gave it all in those few years before everything started to fall apart.
Just my 2c, i've seen them 4 times since they got back together. Most recently about 2.5 years ago and it was a fucking incredible show. On a TV show doesn't remotely compare to the live energy of them as a band.
@@wildcat31772i agree, i've been to some shows and it's just a different sound live from what it gets to the youtube videos, can't understand why. Also they still make 3 hour long shows and it's normal to have some flaws specially because unlike majority of today's performers don't sing it raw like Axl
Estranged is Axl Rose coup de gras for the music and lyrics in other words it's his master peace & the only Why to end the the trilogy Starting with Don't Cry & November Rain ending with this one .
Hari-kari is stabbing oneself with a dagger or sword, preferably in the stomach region, which is a Japanese custom to punish oneself of guilt, shame and to be kept from being a prisoner. Possibly?!?
I was in to see one of the concerts on that tour.. it's one of my best concert experiences to date.. axl rose was a fireball.. seriously.. he's the only lead singer who can keep up that pace a whole concert.. and I still haven't experienced anyone who can surpass him.. and still be able to sing..
@thewolfhunterZ Axel says "commit Hara-kiri" is a Japanese ritual that mean "Suicide" "Japanese ritual suicide by disembowelment". Cutting [the] belly'), also called hara-kiri
I don't understand why should I subscribe to a channel where 2 people watch music videos that I can also watch myself and without meaningless comments and interruptions, I don't understand it?
Guns n' roses is the real deal I am very fortunate to say that I was a teenager in the 70s I was in my twenties when guns and roses came out and I've seen them they came to Chicago twice within the last couple years and Axl Rose all the guys I love him when I start my day blasting my radio in the car they just pick me up if you get a chance go see them in concert go see the real real rock and roll play from the seventies and eighties guns n' roses Axel had a really hard life and he puts a lot of emotion and his life experiences into the lyrics of his songs take the time to learn their life history especially axles he's a beautiful human being
Ankle- in 2016 the first show reunited its slash and duff they played a gig at I believe the Trubedour a sunset strip club they started in. Axl came on stage as they opened with Its So Easy and while bouncing around in cowboy boots he slipped a bit at some point snapped his ankle and at the end of the song made light of it knowing it was broke
There is footage if Axl faceplanting hehehe in Portugal 1991 he fall and then sang 1 or 2 songs on the ground because the audience was really being crap lol
What almost no one knows is that Guns Roses was not only a great Rock band, but also the best in the history of Rock. The rock scene before Guns Roses emerged was known as Hard rock full of bon jovi, poison, van halem, motlrey crue, when Guns Roses appeared with Apetite For Destruction they set a standard for Hard rock in a row, since then several bands, due to the efficiency of their managers, had to reinvent themselves in the case of Aeroismith, Bon Jovi, many others lost space like Montley Crue, Poison, Van Halen. Axl wanted to release 4 albums on Use your Ilusion, but Gef didn't accept. Axl is the greatest lyricist in the history of Rock, coming from a poor and suffering life, but his talents were hidden, what would slash be without Axl and Axl without slash? For example, Slash wrote songs like this and Axl wrote the lyrics, if they hadn't known each other this sound wouldn't exist. I'm Brazilian at 14 years old and I spent all day listening to pirated cassettes because I didn't have money to buy vinyl.
One of the greatest songs ever. it's almost a rebirth as you work your way through the song. My only suggestion: Give it the credit it deserves. Don't defer to the comments. Give the song it's credit if you like it.

Foo Fighters David Grohl broke his leg while performing (think he fell off the stage) and FINISHED the concert (like 1-2 hrs longer) from a a chair while a doctor held his leg in place...there's footage. Talk about an ultimate performer.
I believe he broke his ankle while covering for BJ on the AC/DC tour Still kicking myself for not going to a show But I did see GNR for the 5th time last weekend and it was the BEST yet YT videos don't do Axl justice folks
Here is my unpopular opinion. I think Axe is a lousy singer live. He might be a great screamer I will give him that but the times that I saw him live his singing was painful to listen too. Much like in this video.
It depends on the concert...there are instances where I agree with u. I don't like Sweet Child from this concert cuz it sounds like he gargled with gravel, but I definitely wouldn't cast a blanket statement like that cuz I think there are many more live performances where he slays. I recommend checking out their Chicago '92 concert if u haven't. Unfortunately Paradise gets cut off at the very end, assume they ran out of tape, but imo that entire concert is Axl's best vocal performance. Its my favorite Slash concert too cuz his energy level is the highest I've ever seen from him thru an entire concert. It's been remastered. Axl has a few rants but none that he carries past that moment. In all he was in a pretty great mood. It's by far my fave show of theirs from the Illusion tour. Paris would be 2nd. Just my opinion folks...we are all allowed them 😉
Slash is LOADED…at one point in this concert, his guitar tech has to come out and prop Slash ups so he doesn’t fall over, and his cigarette almost lit his chest hair on fire…must’ve been good dope
