Industrial metal - whenever it sounds like stuff you would hear in a factory with bikers, robots, goths, crazy blast beat drums, sometimes with synths in there etc, you got Industrial Metal. Fear Factory is badass though. They aren't as cheesy as many others, they have some great clean singing parts, and lots of cool ideas and lyrics, lots of concept album / sci-fi stuff.

Sounds like stuff you hear in a factory with other people of types? No, that doesn't make industrial metal. That's not how it works. You got the genre right, but in all the wrong ways

a case where the band sounds exactly as you would expect based on their name Fear Factory is generally placed in the Industrial or Groove metal sub-genres, but the are their own sound. Very old band

I guess somebody already mentioned it. The drums are played by The Atomic Clock, Mr. Gene Hoglan. I talked to him and shook his hand in Amsterdam during the Mechanize tour. You should check out his work in Death esp. the song Overactive Imagination.

Fear Factory often gets labeled as Industrial Metal since they took elements of industrial music and applied them to the context of metal.

Gene Hoglan is the drummer and has to be seen to be believed. Got to see them live on the tour supporting the album in a small venue, could feel the double bass in my sinuses.

I just see it as metal, more precise, Industrial Metal. I've seen these guys at 2 Ozzfests'. Discovered them in the mid/late 90's.🤘

It’s very heavy but i would say closer to industrial, well, when they have more keyboard parts. This is like a dry version. But a good version of how they are without all the keys in the Background. Hard to say.

For me, this band is classified as Industrial Hybrid Metal which combines Groove Metal / Death Metal / Industrial Metal / Electronic ..... There was a remix album of Demanufacture rename Remanufacture which was more Techno, some was more like a Gabber track ( harder version ) .... Was kinda weird to hear but i did like 2 or 3 remixes but honestly the original always better

The air drumming show was way more overdone than the original performance by Gene "The Atomic Clock" Hoglan. But your air drumming was actually pretty decent in a strange way. I was enjoying the spirit. ;-)

This is a good song but newer Fear Factory lacks the style and substance of early Fear Factory; all power, no passion. Check out ANY song from Demanufacture or Obsolete, you CAN'T go wrong!
