Asia, BJ… They’re the famous Pearson siblings (all 5) & the group was formed in the early 80’s in the UK… Stedman (the oldest), Doris, Lorraine, Deniece & Delroy (the youngest) from Essex.

Loved FiveStar in the 80's , fantastic band, they were very popular here in the UK, their song "Slightest Touch" is a total banger Denise's voice is great on that track & you WILL want to dance, "system Addict" & "can't wait another minute" too great songs, such nostalgia listening to them, i still play them myself , man the 80's was the decade to be in , our very own jackson 5 type group, great memories.

I lived in the UK in 1985-86 (and returned briefly in the spring of ‘87), and Five Star were EVERYWHERE - massively popular. They just barely missed the top 40 here in the US, but were pretty popular on the R&B charts. Fun group. Their album “Silk & Steel” (which has this song) is a real winner - every track on there is a gem.

So glad you did 5star their silk and steel album was the first album I bought with my own pocket money on vinyl (the only vinyl album I bought) Their siblings from Romford essex london.the Pearsons.with 5star you get costumes, choreography,harmonies and story/well thought out videos. I was lucky to grow up in the 80’s and witness this beautiful pop family. They had so many hits from 84 to early 90’s. They were massive in the UK. We used to learn their dance routines and dance on our shed roof to their songs. This was their biggest hit in the UK reaching number 2 on the top 40. Glad to see people today appreciating great pop music at its finest. ❤

love love love this group. janet jackson loved this group back in the late 80's. one of my most beloved groups and i am surprised that you reacted to them. system addict, stay out of my life, the slightest touch, find the time, let me be the one, can't wait another minute, don't you know i love it, if i say yes, live giving love and the brilliant (strong as steel from the movie ghost dad by bill cosby) these are few of their wonderful songs. this band is awesome. they were called the british jacksons. by the way they were one family sisters and brothers. their lead singer deniece pearson sang with tito jackson live. thank you so much for reacting to rain or shine. you just made my day.

reached number 2 in the uk charts. kept from being at number 1 by true blue by madonna and don't leave me this way by the communards (a cover of thelma houston's 70's song). i suggest you react to true blue by madonna. i love this song so so much.

Let me be the one was the jam from them!! Their earlier stuff was produced by loose ends producer. Became more poppier later on. They moved to the US and had a more New Jack and R&B sound which faired better out there as their success went downhill in the UK.

I still love them. Whenever you are ready is also my favorite. in the term of dancing, they are also great. one of the members, Doris, does the choreography. It is very sophisticated and the synchronized dancing of the five of them is one of their specialties!

To me, I felt like Five Star were a huge group when I was a kid back in the 80s. For me, they had hit after hit after hit. I see that someone said that the song was not released in the US, but I heard it when I was a kid. Not sure how if that was the case, but I did. Maybe some video music program aired the music video and that's how I heard it. But, they were part of the second/R&B/Pop British Invasion in the US which included groups/artist like them as well as Sade, Loose Ends, Musical Youth, Billy Ocean, Junior and others. It will definitely be worth it to listen to their other songs that have been listed in other comments. There is a song that they recorded called "Hide and Seek" which is a favorite of mine that New Edition also released the same year as Five Star's version. Both versions of the song are good. You all should take a listen to both versions of the song.
