There is a very dark, disturbing but brilliant animated video that goes with this song that will make your hair stand on end. If it doesn't move you emotionally, you are not human. Check it out.

This song is basically about the trauma left on society after a war. Specifically the bombing of Britain in World War 2. A lot of The Wall is Roger Waters working through the loss of his father who died in World War 2 while Waters was still a baby. Remember the lyrics from Another Brick in the Wall pt. 1. "Daddy's flown across the ocean. Leaving just a memory."

It begins with birdsong and blue skies ... the innocence of a child. It is an intense song. Those aeroplanes are there to kill her.

That's the problem with concept albums. If you don't listen to them all the time - without a break - you lose continuity and you don't understand them. That's why it's essential to listen to The Wall (and also The Dark Side Of The Moon, Wish You Were Here and Animals) from start to finish to fully understand them. Yes, "Goodbye Blue Sky" is an anti-war song in which Pink (Roger Waters) recalls the death of his father in WWII, which by the way Waters did very often in his lyrics, and the anti-war theme was also the main theme of Pink Floyd's last album together, 1983's "The Final Cut" (which I consider his solo album).

So glad your doing these reaction, but listening to you private life at the beginning so tough, please don't burn yourself out. That song is so lovely but the lyrics are really 😔 sad. I especially find it hard now listening to this song with everything going on in Ukraine. The lyrics are way too close for comfort for me great reaction from you though and really nice to catch one 9f you vids so early. Take car man!!!

Clearly an anti-war song. It represents the main character's horrifying experience of the bombing by the Germans of Great Britain. The Battle of Britain (the movie) will play a part a little later in the album and war is a recurring theme through the album, e.g., Bring The Boys Back Home, references to Gomer Pyle USMC, the above movie as well as that whole nazi thing. On its surface this another brick in Pink's wall that he uses to isolate himself. Of the 13 songs on the first half of the double album, fully 11 of them are "bricks". The first two are better seen as narrative. The second half is the consequences of isolation and where the mind trip takes off.

wait until you hear the minute and a half long bass solo with the drum interplay and moog synthesizer in the background in the beginning of HEART OF THE SUNRISE its an 11 minute plus progressive epic journey through 1970's English geography at the intersection of pink floyd and Beethoven
