80's. Check out " Sweet Child O Mine " " Welcome to the Jungle " " Patience " " Don't Cry" " November Rain " " Civil War " " Estranged " " Mr. Brownstone " So many more ❤
Axl Rose: lead vocalist, & Slash: lead guitarist also led G'N'R in "Welcome to the Jungle" and "Sweet Child o' Mine" before this song, so please enjoy their many different styles, too! Rock on, dude!🤘
Paradise City is Los Angeles. The band went up to Seattle for some shows and on the way back to LA, they kept having car trouble. I think, Axl, wrote the line "Take me down the Paradise city where the grass is green and the girls are pretty" meaning he wanted to get back home.
This entire album is considered one of the best debut albums ever & one of the best rock albums ever. Appetite for Destruction. Any song from this album is great. I'm glad you started with Paradise City. 'Welcome to the Jungle' is their biggest one, 'Rocket Queen' is really rocking, too. They're still touring now!! Slash is one of the most famous guitarists & Axl Rose, the vocalist, has an incredible & very famous voice. Entire band is incredible.
GnR was Axle Rose on vocals, Slash on lead guitar, Izzy Sradler on rhythm guitar, Duff McKagen on bass guitar and Steven Adler on drums. I saw them back when they were the opening band for Aerosmith. This was 1988/89. This album was and still is amazing.
I was in college in the late 1980s at UCONN. There was a set of dorms called “The Jungle”. Every Friday night, windows opened in the dorms, and people blasted this song in preparation for the weekend.
I love watching these reactions from all you younger people. I was a teenager in the late 80’s and early 90’s. I was there in the crowd for these concert and I can say nothing has been the same since.
I'm a teenager from the 70s and probably to say that guns n' roses came out in the 80s till the 90s the lead singer is Axl Rose the lead guitarist is Slash and then the bass player stuff McKagan the drummer was Stephen I can't remember his last name and there's a couple other they are still playing and I just seen them again last year and if you can watch out for them because they are a great group to see absolutely great you will not sit in your seat for one second I love them absolutely love them Axl Rose he just writes the most wonderful lyrics to all the songs and if you can listen to the album appetite for destruction listen to a song it's called civil war it might be on one of the other albums and there's another one and it's long and it's called estranged I love these guys absolutely love them I'm glad you felt the feeling that I feel when I listen they really get me out of a bad mood I blast my stereo in my car
Bob Seger sang about that in Turn The Page - people casually wondering if someone (musicians) they just saw were men or women - "Sometimes you can hear em talk, other times you can't; all the same old cliches - 'is that a woman, or a man?' "
More GnR!!! 'Welcome to the Jungle', 'Coma', 'Civil War', 'It's So Easy', 'Sweet Child O Mine', 'Knocking on Heavens Door', Dont Cry', November Rain', Estranged'.
Iconic 🎸 Slash described hella Axl as having 8 unique vocal styles of upper & lower register singing, including his (studio-dubbed;) bass subline near the beginning of this "live" track.
How is that possible? Guns n' roses wasn't on the Monsters of Rock Tour in 1988. And I was there at The Meadowlands in late-June 1988, and I also saw the show down in tampa (early June of 1988. I got lucky because I lived by tampa, and my brother lived up in New York so we went up there for his graduation that summer and got to see it that second time). Monsters of Rock 88 consisted of Van halen, the Scorpions, Metallica, Dokken, and Kingdom Come. Of course it's now called Giants Stadium, Meadowlands stadium back then. The Jersey show was unforgettable because there was basically a riot at the stadium during the show. Fans breaking things, yanking up sprinklers, etc
I saw Guns N Roses in November 1987 opening for Motley Crue. They weren't even a thing yet. Right after that show they blew the hell up! Glad I got to see them before they got so big!
W. Axl Rose is the greatest singer (and songwriter) of all time. Paradise City is undoubtedly one of their greatest songs, although One in a Million from GNR Lies is also worth a listen to. Although it has been horribly chastised because of its lyrics (which were based on true events) it is an amazing song with an important message, and has an incredible vocal performance by the one and only W. Axl Rose. The true crime in relation to this song is the appalling (and false) criticism which has led to it being hidden from the galaxy which deserves to hear such beautiful music. The enemies of W. Axl Rose, Guns N' Roses & true music fans should never be allowed to "cancel" One in a Million.
Saw these guys in concert twice. First time they opened for Motley Crue and we didn’t even know who they were. 3 years later we saw them at a sold out Miami Dolphins stadium on New Years Eve and they were the biggest band in the world.
So many great GNR songs available to you: Welcome to the Jungle, Sweet Child of Mine, Patience, Knocking on Heaven's Door, Civil War, Don't Cry, Estranged, You Could Be Mine, Live and Let Die, November Rain, Mr. Brownstone.. etc. Paradise City was their go-crazy party song. Axl Rose's vocal were unlike anyone else, and their sound was heavily influenced by blues and jazz as well as hard rock. They are from the 80s btw. Paradise City is not based on any one location, rather just a feeling they get from being on tour and on stage. Funny enough, there is a location known as "Paradise City" aka. Northampton, MA.
Long hair boys looks and high pitch vocals will throw you off lol. When I was a kid and had long red hair some girls would walk up to me and asked me if I was a boy or a girl back then I was a little insulted but then I realized I was just cute as hell.
Appetite for Destruction was an amazing album, GNR is such a timeless band….their music will never die and that lead singer is the one and only Axl Rose and u should definitely check out “Welcome to the Jungle”
He said the 1970s & yelled at the screen 1980s. Lol. We had the best music! Welcome to the Jungle, & Sweet Child O Mine are great fast ones . Patience is a good slow song.
Check out Evanescence. Fantastic female rock singer. Start with Call Me When Your Sober or Lithium. Then check out My Immortal. You’ll see her amazing range
Dude I was 12 years old when Appetite for Destruction first landed and I was blown away by Paradise City first of all, as soon as I got the full album it opened my eyes and ears to another level!! I love the album as much to this day as I did back then and your reaction to this track was a f%#kin' genuine pleasure to watch - its sooo good to see younger people hearing music from what I consider as rock's heyday and watching them enjoy it as much as you did, keep the video's coming man!!!!
Axl Rose is the lead singer & that's Slash on lead guitar. Definitely 80's 😊 Make sure to check out more Guns N Roses. Here's a few to get you started; Welcome to the Jungle, Sweet child o mine, Mr Brownstone, It's so easy, Anything goes, November rain, Don't cry, Rocket queen, Patience, Knocking on heavens door, Live and let die, Night train, My Michele, & soooo many more😁
Great job with your reaction and thoughts on the video for Paradise City from Guns and Roses . The video clips are from there show at Giant Stadium in New Jersey home of The NY JETS & GIANTS . The sound is of the Album Appreciate For Destruction . I do believe they were opening up for The Rolling Stones at the time.
Super fun reaction. LA Guns has the same energy with "Electric Gypsy" I know you've been given the info on the correlation of both bands. Since Axl was once in it. Tracii Guns has the same tones.
Amazing song, especially the first time you hear it. So many unexpected, unpredictable transitions. Slash's guitar solo during the first minute is not something you normally get in a rock song. A masterpiece of a song, possibly the best rock song ever. Guns N Roses is far better than any modern rock, there is just no comparison. Axl Rose's voice is an instrument by itself, he is the best male rock singer ever.
Fun fact about this video. Live concert shots in color were from Giants Stadium in NJ & black & white concert footage was from London in 1988. Amazing live band! Loved your reaction & am now a new subscriber 😁
black n white is donington monsters of rock which is in the midlands of UK near derby and Nottingham not London. your point is correct but your geography is out by 100 or so miles lol
Their first album came out in July of 1987. My very first concert was Guns n' roses opening for Motley Crue in November 1987. At the time, no one knew who they were and they were actually at my dad's job to be interviewed because they were angling for publicity and his job was kind of a knockoff MTV at the time it was a video music channel. So somewhere in a box I have the original album, signed by slash Who is the guitarist, and Duff McKagan the bassist. The album was a promo release that was not for retail sale. I'm sure there was a time I could have sold it but I never wanted to. I was only 13 at that concert and my dad made me go with my brother since he was also going. I was so annoyed and trust me so was my brother having his little sister tag along haha
Many of us Sunset Strip clubbers knew G'N'R back in '86, rockin' their very first "Live like a Sui*ide" 6-track album recorded on their own Uzi Sui*ide Records, then rereleased in '88 as "G'N'R Lies", plus 4 new tracks.
Motley Crue can take you there too! Keep diving down the rabbit hole, please. GNR are amazing, so many good songs. Also, Falling in Reverse, another journey to experience.
Appetite for destruction is an amazing album, I'll recomend any guns n roses song, great band, paradise city is a brilliant song that opening is brilliant the riff is awesome but that end solo still gives me goose bumps and I've heard this song loads, one of the best solos ever recorded in my opinion, slash is one of my favourite guitarist a great player, it seems cool to knock axl these days yes his voice has gone but he had one of the widest vocal ranges back in the day hes one of a kind
The first time I heard this , I was in the desert waiting to liberate Kuwait , my girlfriend sent me Appetite for Destruction and Beastie Boys Licence to Ill . Been a fan ever since . 😎😎😎😎😎
